What's funny is if you've seen the US recently they aren't playing with their trademark stamina and work rate that they're known for. They actually have more skill now than they've ever had, especially since we've brought in the German-American reinforcements such as Jermaine Jones and Fabian Johnson (best player on team, better than Donovan or even Dempsey). Klinnsmann has brought a more attractive brand of soccer to the US national team but at the same time we haven't played with the same intensity or work rate since he took over and that is why we are in the 30's as far as national sides and not up there with Mexico in the top 15-20 range. Finally we are starting to play some skillful soccer and we forget what we are, who we are, sickening really.
Ireland is an embarrassment to the Euro's between them and Greece they are the turds of the tournament. I'd love to see Bosnia and Belgium in those two spots... teams that actually have skill.
I haven't seen USA play lately but last time i remember thinking that this team will once be as good as the French. You get all these players coming from different backgrounds and one thing is consistent just like in France (skill and speed). The problem will probably be the same and that's chemistry between players and not keeping things simpler at times when you should. That French team is so cocky to a point they literally want to drag the ball into the net instead of putting nice crosses for headers and shooting from outside the box (last game Nasri did it and it worked for them).
Tom, I watched Fabian play from time to time for Hoffenheim this season, he's excellent and can play any position. 8 assists for a guy that's played mostly in defense is nothing to mess with. 3 of his assists actually for Ibisevic's goals, who himself had American citizenship but decided to play for his home country (Bosnia).
