Moving on to the next game..

Should the U.S bring a mix of new players or bring in the same old players to Azteca, IMO if we mix new with old, we can gel the new.

I definitely do not like the midfield of Bradley, Edu, Jones.

Jones and Edu are attack killers (turnover machines)

Its worth mentioning that Mix isnt an out and out creator. Yes he has great vision for the game, but he is another Bradley type player, who plays behind the 10. At least that is where he was used in Olympic qualifying. Scatch that I guess he was either the LCM or RCM with the deep 6 sitting back in the 4-3-3. Anyway I still think Mix brings a lot to the table, but I personally feel that Adu is out and out our best 10 with Clint being our best finisher.

I'd really like to see him hand a chance to some of the young players who aren't contributing right now, but have the upside to be big players for us in the future. We could especially use some new blood at wide midfielder and CAM, so I'd be open to exploring options there.

That means some old names like Adu and some new names like Gatt and Gyau. I understand they might not be ready, but what would it hurt to throw them into the mix? I'm not saying they need to start the game or even play. Just bring them to camp and see if they can give you something.

The team I want to see is....

    ---------------------------------Altidore---------------------------------
    Johnson-----------------------Dempsey----------------------Donovan
    ---------------Bradley-----------------------Jones----------------------
    Lichaj------Bocanegra---------------------Goodson---------Chandler
    -------------------------------Howard----------------------------------

If Gyau or Gatt shows anything in camp, give them some sub minutes for Landon.

If Chandler declines, start Dolo there.

Freddy as the backup #10 behind Dempsey.

And yea, Jozy is still my guy at striker. Easily our best and most accomplished player there. Not even close. Do I like his work rate and demeanor? No. In simple terms, the guy seems like a p*ssy. But he's talented, and we don't have a lot of talented forwards. I think he's getting too much of the blame for tonight considering that he came on deep into the game when everyone around him had already started playing like garbage. He still might have scored the winner if not for that odd advantage call.

Anyways, #1 mission for me with the USMNT is identifying young attacking players who can contribute at the international level.

#2 priority is determining who's going to succeed Boca at CB. Gooch is a shell. We need to see what guys like Cameron, Ream, Whitbread, and John can give us.

For the love of God, please Kljestan. Feilhaber would be nice too. We need some CMs that aren't just north-south. I'd like to see DeLeon in there too I rate him VERY highly. For now I am okay with the Boca-Goodson pairing, and I think at this moment our biggest weakness has been the central midfield trio. Personally I'd like an Edu-Bradley-Kljestan or a Jones-Bradley-Kljestan trio.

It's clear this team is missing something. It's up to Juergen and co. to find it.

Gonzalez is still recovering from his ACL but hopefully he is healthy enough to get called in for Camp Cupcake in January

This, and honestly if we are going to start 2 young CB's in the Azteca we will be torn apart. However, if it has to be that way I would start Ream in place of Gonzo because he won't be recovered in time.

How did Diskerud play against South Africa? Behind or as the #10?

    For two games? Hardly permanent.

Gomez hustles, but he's a mediocrity with little upside to be anything more.

Jozy is a talented player coming off a strong season in a respected league. He really has no competition for that #1 striker spot at the moment. Boyd? You kidding me. Maybe eventually, but he's proven nothing at this point and has yet to even play in a professional first division. Gomez is a journeyman excelling in a weak league. He doesn't have the difference-maker qualities that you need at the international level. Neither does Wondo.

I see this as Jozy's spot for the foreseeable future, simply because there's no one there to push him. The up-and-comers like Agudelo, Boyd, and Sapong aren't any better. They're just newer and not as reviled by the fan base.

I am actually not sure. I know he subbed in for Bedoya, but I don't remember if he was playing as a winger at the time or in the center of the pitch as a creator. It seems like he was lined up as a type of 10 in that game though. Not sure....

The pass to Agudelo looked to me he like was playing a hybrid CM/CAM.

Jurgen doesn't like lazy players so if Jozy want's to win back his old job he needs to start hustling.

I agree! He drifted in from the center, but he was pretty advanced at the same time. I just remember that for the U23's he was playing a bit deeper role with all real creating differed to Adu. Mix is also one hell of a creative player, so either would be more than useful right now...

Seems very attacking oriented, but defensively, it's a risk.

Defensively I think its pretty sound. Its pretty much the exact formation and player selection I used. You have Bradley screening the back line, probably dropping back as the deep six with Mix playing 2 way box to box helping with defense and creating. The backline would be somewhat shielded, but is also youthful and quick enough to recover. It would certainly be an experiment.

Bradley seemed comfortable sitting deep against the Mexico game in August and Diskerud likes to attack, much like a pulley, sort of.
Tactically speaking, it would be more like a 4-1-1-3-1 at times, and Defensively, a 4-2-1-2-1.

Exactly! That's how I was thinking of it. With Bradley is a deep position to guard the defense, but also envoke a Pirlo-esque role, and then Mix free to be the pully, switch play, create, help out, etc...
