Is there really such a thing? :p

He'll probably never be Gigi, but general consensus is that he's the standout Italian 'keeper of his generation. We just have to wait and see if that turns out to be true.

Well, by the time Gigi was 19 he'd already been a starter in Serie A for two seasons with Parma, at the time a very good side. Age is just a number when it comes to that type of outstanding talent.

Yea, but how long has it been since youth got a real shot in Italy? Like i said it's still too early to tell and he's gonna get loaned out to get his shot at being a starter, after a couple more seasons we'll see what he's really made of

Nothing gets me more excited that seeing that mesh shirt, and the two cameo doctors behind the man wearing it.

15 million this summer, next summer another 15 million obligation to buy. total 30m for both Asamoah and Isla. I get half credit for this transfer, as I was the first one to report our interest in Asamoah here, back in January. damn, our midfield just got WAY scarier.

Leali, Asamoah, Isla... so far off to a great start.

However, I still don't understand the need for Isla besides as utility player as we already have Pepe, Caceres and Lichtsteiner for the RB/RWB/RM slots. But, at 15M, that's one expensive utility player.

You misquoted "excited". Excited as in excited for the season, not excited as in aroused.

Although getting Van Persie would probably give me a chubby.

For a soccer player, Asamoah's pretty ripped. Glad we got him, even if we did overpay for him. Hopefully, he can help us boss the midfield, and spell Vidal. I see him more as a foil for Vidal than Pirlo or Marchisio, although I think Vidal is the better player.

I see Isla as more of a Giaccherini type of player. Giaccherini is quite versatile, and can be placed in central midfield to replace Marchisio, or he can placed out wide on the left side. I think this will be true of Isla. He'll be placed on the right side of the central midfield, but slide out wide to the right. To be honest, I wouldn't be shocked if we didn't see a midfield in some Serie A matches that looked like this...
    Giaccherini - Isla
    Asamoah
They could also split, and play out wide in a 4-3-3, but I think Conte will stay consistent with the 5-3-2. Considering we would probably use this setup after a Champions League match, I don't think this is too bad.

Assuming Elia and Krasic are sold, right now our midfield consists of:

Marchisio, Vidal, Pepe, Padoin, Estigarribia, Giaccherini, Pepe, Asamoah, Marrone, Isla

As others have mentioned, Pogba is on the way. That's eleven midfielders.

Personally, I no longer see the need for Estigarribia or Padoin. Padoin's utility is no longer needed now that we have that of Isla. And, Estigarribia was okay but, IMO, isn't worth a spot on the team. Have we signed him outright? If not, when is our deadline to do so?

Also, this is already €15M spent just this summer. I think the midfield seems pretty sured up now. When are we going to look to other areas of the field and how much does it seem like we have to invest?

I think Isla will be used as the RW in a 4-3-3 and as a RWB in the 3-5-2. Will play LWB and CM when Conte is forced to(hopefully never). And LOL at someone saying we overpaid for Asamoah when Udine actually gave us a discount. Asamoah has the potential to be world class. theres no price on that.
