Bob Bradley leads the Pharaohs in their first WC Qualfying game against Mozambique in Alexandria today. The game starts at 2 PM Eastern time and will be played in front of a crowd of Egyptian soldiers as far as I know. They were originally going to play with no fans, so I guess this is better for Egypt.

Egypt are in a qualifying group with Guinea, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. They will play at Guinea on June 10th. Only the group winners advance to the next round of qualifying, which is a two-leg knockout.

Good luck to Bob and the Pharaohs!

    Egypt VS Mozambique Match Preview
    At Borg El Arab Stadium | 1 Jun 2012 – 20:00 (Cairo Time) EET | 2PM ET (Canada/USA) Time
The match will be live on www.NileSports.tv and on NileSports.com

    More Info:
The match will be played behind closed doors upon the recommendation of FIFA and CAF, amid the political instability Egypt is witnessing.

Egypt met Mozambique three times, winning every game 2-0 en route to three Africa Cup of Nations triumphs in 1986, 1998 and 2010.

Egypt are unbeaten at home since June 2004 when a Didier-Drogba-inspired Ivory Coast won 2-1 in a 2006 World Cup qualifier in Alexandria.

Good luck for Egypt and Bob Bradley.

    My predictions Egypt 4-0 Mozambique

They look really good, and have had the lion's share of both possession and shot/chances. Does anyone know how strong of an opponent Mozambique is and how they compare to the other teams that Egypt will have to play to qualify for the nexy round of qualifying?

Mozambique is ranked 110 by FIFA and 127 by Elo. Ten teams make it to the third round to play a home and away series. The top ten teams in CAF are ranked by FIFA from 15 (Ivory Coast) to 60 (Morocco). In between are Ghana, Algeria, Mali, Zambia, Gabon, Libya, Tunisia, and Egypt.

Mozambique's keeper makes Zach Thorton look like Ryan Meara.

1-0 Egypt. Mahmoud Fathalla smashes the ball in from close range.

Up 2-0 in the 85th, but this game seems much too wide open. Where's the bunker?

    Bob Bradley winning start

Egypt open their World Cup qualifying campaign with an easy 2-0 victory over Mozambique on Friday.

Looking highly affected by lack of domestic action, a toothless Egypt side hardly troubled Mozambique in the first half.

Egypt notably improved after the interval, and were revitalized by the second-half introduction of Zidan, who is set to leave Bundesliga side Mainz in the summer.

Guinea just equalize as the right wing slices through the defense and crushes one on the ground to the far post. Not sure how much time is left.

Eqypt break out after a corner (I think), slice through the Guinea defense and score to take a 3-2 lead with the game seemingly in stoppage time. The web feed then switches to some highlights.

Such a fabulous game. In the future, how about we do individual game threads in the Africa forum? Any thoughts?
