Totally none MLS related but the pro/celeb charity game (Soccer aid 2012) was played last Sunday.
American celebs playing were, Will Ferrel, Woody Harrelson and Edward Norton while Canadian Mike Myers was also playing.
Other celebs included Robbie Williams and Gordon Ramsay who was stretchered off after a tackle from Teddy Sherringham :ROFLMAO:
Highlights and full match can be found on youtube.

I get the upsets. I can't speak for all teams, and I know coach Kreis said otherwise in the presser, but RSL really didn't care. Yes I know they hosted it. Yes I know MLSsoccer is trying to paint it as a "costliest loss". But with 17,000+ in attendance, the only thing hurt was pride. Ownership was certainly happy with the butts in the seats.

And now RSL can focus on league and CCL. Which is what they really care about anyways.

    The biggest thing is P R I D E

It should never be okay losing in this tournament, i dont care what anyone says...
but at the same time, I'm glad those upsets have happened. This means the lower division are closing the gap and capitalizing on the American MLS teams arrogance, and ignorance.

But at the end of the day, for teams that havent been in the CCL, this tournament should be of high importance.

This about sums up how most MLS staff treat the USOC. If you can make it to the semi finals with your draft picks and reserves, fine, but I have always had the impression most vary from not caring to relief in losing. MLS rosters are just not deep enough to focus on SS, MLS playoffs, CCL, and USOC and by nature of less prestige, the USOC loses that battle.

As I pointed out elsewhere, while not direct proof, 7 teams loss (all CCL teams that have played by the way) and 4 more only won by a goal. All teams started the bottom of the roster where possible.

I'm so used to MLS playing on international dates, I assumed they wouldn't ever take off for them , lol.

you really could have been paying better attention to the last 4-5 years worth of MLS league schedules. the 2008, 2009 and 2010 MLS schedules all had some reverence paid to the FIFA international match calendar.

    This year's announcement:

MLS has to fix their schedule like Wynalda pointed out. You would never see EPL or bundesliga with so many sporadic long breaks for all the teams.i know bundesliga have a winter break but no other 3 or 2 week sporadic breaks for teams in other parts of the season.

You mean other than when the EPL skips a weekend for international play, resulting in a 2 week break for the whole league?

Foreign leagues also take breaks from time to time (and on certain weekends) to allow for domestic cup competition/matches.

EPL still has games maybe not league games but other cup games and what not, they don't take so man long breaks like MLS has this year due to an unbalanced schedule.

    *sigh*

    Well, you asked for it:

Blackburn Rovers - No games between Aug. 27th and Sept. 11 of 2011, a space of 2 weeks. No game between Oct. 1st and Oct. 15th, a space of two weeks. No game between Nov. 5th and Nov. 19th, a space of two weeks. No games between Feb. 11th and Feb. 25th 2012, a space of 2 weeks. Not surprisingly these gaps correspond to the international dates on the FIFA match calendar.

Now how about you go do some research before popping off like you have a clue.

So you are saying that the EPL does take a break?

I think this break seems so long because it's two weekends off, not just 2 weeks off.

But if Cup games count, well, there's May 29/30 and then June 5...plenty of MLS teams were supposed to have been in action on the 5th.

Still not sure what TS is trying to explain or defend here.

USOC and WCQ are all during the same time so he thinks that MLS should schedule even more games in that period?

Does he know that a bulk of MLS players are CONCACAF based and many teams will have skeleton lineups

And why is he mentioning Wynalda twice in this thread ? . . . does he think that it gives him some form of e-cred or something because "Whine-alda said so"?

    February isn't midseason?

    Face it, you were wrong.
