Here's a little something for those that don't know Roma's love for Zeman.

Antonello Venditti, which as you all know, wrote/sings Roma's intro and outro hymns made this song about Zeman a few years back:

I think AVB and Bielsa even more, are better coaches, but Zeman is what this city needs.

Like LE, Zeman will nurture our younger players, but unlike him, Zeman will make men out of our boys, and is someone loved by Roma, the city: he built our scudetto team.

Towards the end of this year the project seemed for a few moments in risk of alienating the fans, and falling into an irrecoverable spin - The fat curva bastard screaming at Totti comes to mind - with Zeman this will be less likely.

I was too young to really remember anything during the Zemen era, but the more and more I read the more I really hope he's our next boss

I think it was Henchag who put it wonderfully, where we would become the ultimate anti-Juve team. And in a time where once again the serie is looking terrible to the rest of the world, having people like Zemen and Baldini at our club will only make it all the better. I think the best scenario for us right now is that Zemen takes over and establishes our youth, and then Spalletti takes over in four or five years when he realizes his bald head shouldn't be in Russia

It's not that at all. Your ignoring the fact that you still posted as to what seems to be, an ignorant comment. Not ignorant in the sense of stupidity, but there is no basis to it. This forum is great in the fact that the debates or discussions we have are factual and are not simply opinion but depend on the benefit of the club. We actually disagree quite often, and people still stick around. Henchag will explain this to you. And even so, it doesn't mean we don't like him.:inlove: lol

by the way, who is Pippo Marra... everyone repped this but I am lost here.

Pippo Marra is a leech. He was a known Lazio fan, hence the pictures, until he endeared himself to Franco Sensi. He somehow worked himself into the board of directors at Roma and have remained there since. He now pretends to be a lifelong Roma fan. Pippo runs a news agency in Rome, and during the Soros deal he famously wrote a public letter warning his dear "friends" (Roma fans) to be careful of sharks dressed as mermaids.

This made him a hated figure with more or less everyone, especially the huge faction that was ready to see Sensi move on back in 2007.

Even with the sale of the club Marra like a good leech has clung to his position. He sits on the board as a part of UniCredit's 40% ownership. Most recently Marra returned to speaking and criticized the American ownership, claiming he expected more and it was time to be clear and show more details. It feels very much like he still supports the old regime and tries to oppose Franco Baldini.

This latest outburst upset a lot of people. Carlo Zampa had a very long rant about Pippo, not the first. A petition to remove him from the board of directors was started but so far it hasn't helped.

I've seen some of Zeman's games to know a bit about him but no enough to know his tactics fully, why is it that his teams concede much goals? is it that he neglects the defence or is it that he always has poor defenders at his disposal ?

Zeman is somewhat of a legend. He believes in playing a beautiful game, in sportsmanship, and in giving fans their moneys worth. Where some coaches might see the final game of a season with nothing left to play for as a vacation, Zeman will send his team in with the orders to win at all costs.

He plays a very offensive 4-3-3 (and nothing else) and makes all his players run. Much like Luis Enrique he believes that every player needs to press and contribute defensively (also offensively). His training sessions are pretty well known. They are supposedly some of the most intense and hardest training session anywhere. Players are said to be in pieces from it, however once the training takes they can run twice as fast as their opponents.

Zeman first got big with Foggia when he brought them from Serie C into Serie A. Once in Serie A with a very weak team he obtain some rather big results and for many years Foggia was close to playing in Europe. After Foggia he passed on to coaching Lazio and then to coaching Roma. At Roma he had a young Totti and launched him playing wide in his 4-3-3. He did alright with Roma in my opinion, 4th and 5th place finishes in a time when Serie A was much more competitive.

Zeman they nearly committed suicide when he spoke out about Juventus' doping. The Moggi system moved to do him in, bad results arrived, he was fired and ended up in the minnows. It's worth noting that the Juventus doping trial came out mostly due to Zeman and an ambitious prosecutor who took up the cause. Out in the wilderness he has a lot of spells with different clubs. Time at Napoli. He coached Lecce with Mirko Vucinic and Marco Cassetti, and a ton of other reams.

With Moggi gone little by little Zeman has started to rise again. He was back a Foggia for a while. He got a huge turnout when they played Athletico Roma a few years back. Then this last year he preformed a miracle bringing Pescara into Serie A and also winning Serie B.

When Luis Enrique arrived last year I said it would be like Zeman coming. We would score a bunch and concede a bunch. Well that didn't really come through, we never really scored a bunch. This season we will see the real deal.

While always good practice to wait for the official news, I think Zeman is more or less a done deal. It makes sense:

    - A choice the fans like
    - Good a developing youngsters
    - Plays offensive football
    - Won't pretend champions

    He fits all the criteria.

I think for the now, we are all enthusiastic for the move. As usual, we are the fans ...we want to be biased our team to do well.

But I think tomorrow once games start, and we lead 3 - 0 then game ends 5 - 4 loss...lot of us will lose there heads..and possibly smack sthg .I think most important thing is we be patient, which is sthg all of us have but need to use.

    I remember the game between us & palermo under spalletti.we led 3 - 0 , it ended 3 - 3. I kicked a chair lol.

I think this will be much more better than Luis Enrique. With LE we saw so much boring steril possession. With Zeman we will see fantastic counterattacking games.

I believe that if he gets a solid defense from Saba, he can at least get us into CL. We have plenty of quality in attack, and they will score loads for him.
