Somebody in N&A figured this out, but using the Guaranteed number the Rapids have the lowest paid midfield per player and the 4th highest paid defense.

Another attraction of MLS is the guaranteed pay ... there are issues in Eastern Europe, South America and even lower leagues in Spain of players not getting paid on time and even for months on end. BBC has down some good stories on the problems.

I'm not so thrilled to see players getting "normal" salaries... there's a decent chance at a career-ending injury for them in any given season, and I think they should be compensated for that risk. Also, if we were able to raise salaries for our players, I really think we'd be able to attract some better all-around athletes to the sport, which would help us as far as international competetiveness. With that said, I don't think we need to be reaching for NFL/NBA/MLB salaries because that does (I think) erode the integrity of the game.

Anyone know what kind of post-soccer career help these guys get, or health benefits, retirement, etc? That kind of info would actually help quite a bit as far as situating their living in terms of the rest of society.

COL Smith Jamie M $ 148,992.00 $ 158,992.00 old has been injury ridden. for 150 k with our scouts i belive we can find someone whose impacted our team like rivero...... shit could even use 70 k of it finding a poper center back

    COL Joyce Ian GK $ 44,004.00 $ 44,004.00
    wow really? waste.
    COL Ceus Steward GK $ 44,100.00 $ 44,100.00
hate this guy. we could spend 30 k and find someone better.

    COL Ababio Eddie D $ 44,000.00 $ 44,000.00
fast young but can he learn to be a great center back? maybe dont mind this one but he could be a center defensive mid.

i all in all think if we cut down or got rid of some those guys we could get VERY VERY GOOD REPLACEMENTS with the things we done with the players we gotten i know this is a fact.

Except that minimum salary is 44K for most players, 34K for specific exceptions.

Congratulations, you misspelled intelligence while qestioning someone's intelligence. I struggle with using irony correctly but I think it may be applicable here.

So Dis... you want to trade or otherwise get rid of 11 players and replace them with... whom? Can you name 11 players we could bring in who would be as good or better? If so, could you have a chat with them and have them get in contact with the team? If so and we brought them on board, could you spell their names right when you make posts about them? If so, I will find you, wherever you may be, and kiss your feet.

The supposed cap is at 2.8 mil. But I seen a info graphic on NBC that suggested most MLS clubs pay about 5.1 million to their players. Where teams like TFC, LA, SEA and NYRB are paying more than that average.

I am sure that is team avg when you factor in the DPs salary, per league rules

I remember many of us were baffled that the Rapids didn't cut him loose based on his salary last year, but now we know why. I'm fine having him around at minimum. I'm guessing he is a good locker room guy and didn't realize until just now that he is just 24 (or 26 according to wikipedia). I thought he was closer to 34. At that age, he and Ceus are young guys who aren't cap hogs and with Joyce I imagine he is pretty happy to be a backup here for a long time. So unless some extremely talented youngster comes along I am fine with both of them being on the roster.

True enough. But as a former distance runner (1992 olympic trials, steeplechase), I would've given my left nut for a "normal" salary. Injuries and poverty forced a "career" change.

My impression is, and it could be wrong, that players from Columbia and Argentina do not get paid a lot. The same with most players from Brazil. And that's a large reason why we see so many of them willing to play in other leagues around the world. And why other leagues around the world are so interested in bringing them in.

i post on my ipod mostly thats why every is always jacked up but i really dont care for grammar or spelling on the internet. i know i should but i dont care.

i'm sure i could conjur up a list of players i feel the rapids could aford and that could come and make a impact on our team.

i'm sure most of if not all of those players will be gone in 2 years.
