Did she sleep with organizers of last night's event? Cause clearly there is no other logical reason she trotted out to sing our beloved anthem.

That was Rosanne Barr/Carl Lewis bad.

And I had the same thought about her sleeping with someone to get to sing. She was bloody awful, and I don't mean bloody like the Brits do, but blood in that she made my ears bleed.

I'm surprised this hasn't gone viral on Deadspin and other sports-and-snark related websites.

It was pretty bad... It's strange, because even when it's bad, everyone will be respectful until it's over, but where I was this wasn't the case...

I liked the bagpipes... (and I know I'm probably alone in this)

"All I want is to be able to move people through music and sing rhythms of my soul for those who love to listen."

I would love to listen but my ears are still recovering from the last time I was moved.

She was awful. I was embarrassed for her, she didn't even seem to notice just how bad she was.

I give her props for the mea culpa, but her excuse is lame.

    It's called "rehearsal."

Meanwhile, her performance continues to go viral.

Apparently her stage daddy is trying to threaten bloggers from going after her or showing clips of her torturing the anthem. While I get the desire to protect your kid, you gotta be willing to take the heat if you, or your kid, is going to be in the public eye.

Even the Scots think she sucked.

It's an anthem not an aria!

I wish organizers of all sporting events in this country would remember this simple fact, and stop hiring self indulgent, self absorbed soloist to sign at us, instead of singing with us.

It all started with Marvin Gaye at the 1983 NBA All-Star Game. It's been all down hill ever since.

But that was a legendary performance by Gaye.

OK at this point I feel bad for her... I appreciate that she's falling on her sword... That being said, I don't need her to sing the anthem again for a while.

I prefer choirs. Solo artists are always silly, and it seems like whatever 'arrangement' they go with is just to bring themselves attention, rather than instill pride in our nation.

Sure, the anthem sucked, but if it pissed Landon Donovan off enough that he went out and scored three goals, I want this talentless sack to sing the anthem at every USMNT game from here on out.

The bagpipes for the Scottish anthem were great.

This is known on youtube to be one the best American Anthem moments of all-time ( And its by us USA soccer fans in Germany during 06 WC). Why because it was us singing together making it rock........... not some pop star.

That is the way it should be done at all sporting events. Some sort of military band while the whole stadium sings along.

I love this. Why don't we do this anymore? I mean, why is this the exception and not the rule? It's better, more meaningful, and (I imagine) cheaper.

Chills. Every time I hear that song. Chills. Not to stray too far afield of the topic, but shouldn't everyone who suits up for the USMNT feel the same way?

I agree, we should make a point of requesting this of US Soccer, and make it our thing, like God Save the Queen in England, etc. All of us, belting out the national anthem at the game. Talk about chills!

What I think is crazy is that this poor girl actually holds out her Florida national anthem as proof that she can sing. She has no range. Some people can sing, their vocal cords and diaphragm were made to sing. Others just cannot. She clearly has some talent, but should really not be in this for a living. Personally, I think she has a nice look and could probably make some $ on TV or modeling. I am not being mean honestly, it is just plain that she is not going to make it as a singer.

I also have to wonder why some people get themselves into positions where they are picked for things like this without having the chops to deliver.

You can't really blame her. The blame for this travesty needs to fall squarely at the feet of whoever hired her for the job. I've been a professional singer/actor for the last four years. As an aspiring singer, all you can do is put yourself out there and audition. If people don't cast you, you eventually get the hint and move on. She got booked for this gig, so clearly someone heard her and thought she had enough talent to perform at this venue.

    She didn't.

Even if we're going by her UF gig, her tone quality is woefully inconsistant and she goes flat often. That performance was passable at best for a college basketball game, not a nationally televised event at an outdoor stadium. I can't fathom how she was chosen for this job, maybe her mom's maiden name is Bradley... (I kid, I kid :D)

Not even. Every college at every level in this country has at least one student who can actually hit the notes in the national anthem.

In Jacksonville, she simply couldn't hit the notes. Could. Not. Hit. Them. This isn't about her interpretation of the national anthem, nor about whether the national anthem should be interpreted; this is about her voice going flat, obviously and repeatedly.
