Well, it sucks that LA lost. If you want any positives from it go read the LA forum meltdown. As much I hoped to see them win this game, reading their boards lifted my spirits a little.

I watched both games, thanks MLS Live!

What a bummer to watch LA totally give that game away. What was the LA defense waiting for on the last SJ goal? Omar? Their defense is atrocious. First to worst. Way to go Bruce!

Seattle is a soft group of hacking floppers. Alonso should have been sent off but dollars to donuts nothing will be done about that tackle. Their offense is anemic. They loft cross after cross to no one and hope for the best.

Almost a great night for RSL BUT still a pretty good outcome overall.

Now get a win against FCD and take advantage of these other teams now being on the same # of games played or float to.

You know it was an absolutely fantastic call on the hand ball for the penalty when all Beckham can do is half-heartedly flop his wrist at the ref afterwards.

San Jose and New York are riding the red-card fueled wave. I don't buy it as sustainable.

The Seattle result was bigger. Their dysfunction is appreciated.

East is even with the West this year. Two big clubs, LA and Dallas have gone completely to crap. NY, DC rising to join KC and Houston.

anybody see the goal Pappa scored for Chicago against Dallas?
wow, just wow. Apparently it's ok to have 2 guys act like they are taking the penalty (which was weak shit as Pappa went down and pulled a Sergio Busquets, looking at the ref while "hurt" until he got the call... then he was just fine)

Also, I'm becoming a David Beckham fan. His team is struggling, but he continues to be excellent and dangerous. Yes he whines, yes he'll take cheap shots, but he works hard and has great skill and you can tell he wants to win - he is incredibly professional.

and to be honest, I felt that hand ball call was way harsh. Beckham doesn't extend his arm out, he protects his body like any normal human being would in that situation.

His frustration with the call wasn't a passing "please" but more of a "what a ********ing joke, but were already down a man" to me

Really? I thought it was just, and he deserved a second yellow for putting his hand in Chavez's face.

I probably enjoyed seing LA give up those three goals more than I should have.
I know it would've been better for us if LA won, but come on, that was hilarious.

so was mine (via MLS Live actually), even with the settings forced to play the highest quality it could. it was a terrible feed, something i would expect to see via 2005 when all the feeds were AWFUL.

I couldn't believe that. How in the world do they give Pappa a three yard head start running in for the PK rebound and not call it? Note to referees, when a player goes down grabbing his leg and is looking up at you, more worried about your call then his leg, he isn't injured and (imo) deserves a yellow for embellishment, even if he was fouled. It gets frustrating watching games that the refs are directly impacting. It is almost a guarantee at least one a week wont have a fair result thanks to the refs.

BTW what is the rule on that encroachment? is the play ruled dead one Pappa gets it and it happened AFTER the PK and a kick given to FCD? Or is it considered during the PK and it needs to be retaken?

I believe the kick would have to be retaken as the offense occurred before the actual pk was taken.

Thanks, thats what I thought but wasn't sure. So really it may not have affected the game at all (but we'll never know).

Not sure where to put this, so feel free to move it. http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/...sted-for-drugs-fifa-medical-conference-052412

Apparently FIFA thinks the refs are doing too good of a job and are going to be testing them for performance enhancing drugs. Personally it seems a lot of these referees do a horrible job during the games and I would have thought FIFA would require refs to take performance enhancing drugs.;)

The Pappa goal is flat out embarrassing for the whole reffing crew, how in the world did not a single one of them see that? It was plain as day.

Isn't that the same center ref that did the RSL vs FCd game for us? The guy that has given 9 penalties in the 13 games he has reffed? He's ********ing awful.

he gave 2 more in that game alone.
Each of which were weak as shit with players knowing the ref gives out pk's like candy

ya, he's had a REALLY rough go of things in his recent MLS matches. players are obviously tuning their games to take advantage of his obvious weaknesses. he's been pretty awful in the matches i've seen him do, plus he just has no spine what so ever to stand up to the players. look how long it took him to hand out the yellow for diving, there were several instances earlier in the match where one should have been handed out in order to say to the players "enough with this embellishment bullshit."

it's funny to go to the ref forum and read about these guys and the games they do. it seems like there is a small sect of people who post in that forum who try and back/protect the refs at all costs (MassRef is the obvious one). There really is zero justification for this guys' shortcomings in this game, he just flat out failed.

That miss is completely on the center ref. The AR is watching the keeper and if the shot crosses the line. The other AR and the 4th are at midfield and probably can't get a good read on how far into the box Pappa was (There's encroachment by both teams on every PK ever taken, but usually its trifling and not worth calling). Its the CR's responsibility to watch for that and he just flat out missed it.

    which makes no sense
it would be one thing if Pappa was on the other side of the box, but he ran literally feet away from the center to fire it back home.

Did he just close his eyes on this sequence?

Also, where is the 4th or opposite AR yelling into his earpiece.
It was so bad I think people in the worst seats on the opposite end could have seen it.

ya, i mean it's common to see some encroachment on most pks, but we're talking several YARDS here, pappa was damn near behind grazzini when he shot the pk. it was just one of those awkward "did that just really happen moments?" And then for none of the refs to call it just added to the weirdness of the whole thing.
