This would be an interesting signing. The guy hasn't been the same since his knee injury... but Racing is just a terrible team. Saw a bit of the match against Boca and he was literally the only Racing player capable of controlling the ball. I think he'd do super well with Cavenaghi and Trezegol to pass the ball to instead of Caballero and Haucha

Gio would be an interesting signing indeed, and would probably be the best we could (realistically) get to replace Chori if he ends up leaving.

Its funny he wants to leave argentina for safety purposes but he goes to mexico? A place where Salvador Cabañas was nearly killed playing for America? Not to mention 5 of the worlds 10 most dangerous cities are there.

I don't blame him for leaving the country, i would too and the barras are a cancer, but going to mexico makes 0 sense if safety is what youre after

Enzo Perez exchange for Rogerlio Funes Mori??

Sounds intereseting, but I bet Mori wont get much playing time in Portugol coz even Saviola was warming the bench for benfica most of the time last season. And another argentinian Jara was loaned out.

I have been told that barras are starting to form there too, and the idea was brought in by some Argentinos. Thats at least what my girlfriends family always tells me. I would never mess with Mexico, especially for safety purposes.

    also I saw this yesterday
    Teófilo Gutierrez R.@TeoGolR
Bueno les voy a adelantar algo, mis derechos aun son de Racing, hay conversaciones con 5 equipos 2 colombianos 2 argentinos 1 mexicano

I dont know who the 2 Argentinos are, but I personally would take a chance on him. Even if its just for a year. His talent is still there in full, I think he's got alot to reprove and playing with River a team he loves and an organization where he may actually take things serious could produce good results. I have a feeling River wont take the risk but I wouldnt be the slightest bit unhappy, maybe uneasy, but not unhappy if River brought on Teo.

This could be an interesting signing. Really impressed by this guys ability to stop penalties and of course he also was the GK to take Peñarol to the Libertadores Final in 2011.

I don't like having Boca players in our club, but this guy is hardly a typical boca player... Played one year there and isn't identified with the club

If there is any truth to these rumors DAP needs to do all in his power to get this done.

Chori has had his ups and downs, but overall his class has come through. Not sure how many assists he's had this season, but he's got tone leading the nacional b by quite a margin

It's really my dream for Cavenaghi and Chori to stay at River... If we manage to ascend I think they will both find more success in the A than in the B...

I like both these players, but the big question is could Martinez play for a big club like River? Quite a bit of pressure for a player that arrives from a smaller club like Tigre to River.

Now that the tournament has ended, the talk of new players has started. A few that have been mentioned are Roman Martinez, Martin Rolle, Enzo Perez, and Gabriel Heinze. Though Martinez and Rolle played well with Tigre and Olimpo respectively, the big question is whether they could perform for a bigger club like River. We've already seen how that has turned out. I like Perez but bringing him in will be difficult. Heinze might be good for his experience and veteran leadership in the bac and I do think we need an experienced player or two in the back. I'd love to have both Lisandro Lopez and Guillermo Burdisso. That's a solid pairing right there.

Looks like Cirigliano is out. We will have to find a replacement there.
As for the names cited, none of them really convince me. For a offensive midfielder, why not looking at Nacho Piatti? I didnt follow much Estudiantes, but how wa sPerez since he returned from Benfica? Rolle and Martinez smell players for equipo chico.

A name that was mentioned earlier today via a River journalist on Twitter is Mauro Formica.

Rolle cannot come to river. He would be a disaster. Complete disaster. Have we learned nothing from the likes of ballon and Rojas and Arano? Basta de jugadores falopa

IMO the steps for river this winter are these:

    1. Resign Cavegol. Had a bad second second half but his 19 goals were huge. He carried us before trezeguet came. It would be impossible for River to find any player close to his ability in our price range, not to mention what he means to the hinchada and he knows what it takes to win titles in river, score in la bombonera, be top scorer of a torneo....

    2. Try to resign el Chori. For all the same reasons as Cavegol. There are few player in el futbol argentino with his skill set. Even though inconsistent, his class came through more often than not. Will not be easy to keep him, but we should try and offer Ocampos or FM6 or FM9

    3. Sign a goalie. Vega is going to Mexico, thank god. Barovero has his pass in his own hands and they just said on tyc sports he is close to river. I hope it's true- he is a big game player who knows how to win titles. Chichi is a good back up if barovero feels the pressure

    4. Go for a top CB. I was at the gym and they were talking about Lugano and Heinze on todo noticias, but the tv was on mute so I'm mnot sure if there's any truth. I know both cases would be hard but both guys are past 30 and probably near the end of their time in Europe. Both will be hard, but their leadership and huevos in the back are something we have lacked since celso ayala. Try and throw in Ocampos to the discussion if possible

    5. Don't sign people just for the sake of signing them. We have brought in so many crap players over the years. I'd rather give Cazares a shot than bring in someone like Rolle or Formica. I'd rather have Pezzella and G. Pirez play more than bring in some cb from all boys or Tigre or something. We don't want another ayales situation.

As for signing a 10, I don't think it's worth it unless its of seleccion quality- ie d'alessandro or aimar (both impossible)

As for signing an 8, I don't know about Enzo Perez. He was pretty bad at estudiantes this season from what I've read. He also completely failed at Benicia. I'd like to go for Carbonero from Arsenal, the guy looks really good I think he lead the primera in assists. I sure the investment group that owns his rights would look with good eyes at river because of the exposure it would give him before going to Europe, so it's possible

So far names I heard being linked to us are Yacob (free agent), Zapata  (free agent), Barovero (Velez), Videla (Instituto), Rolle (Olimpo), and some of the other ones you guys mentioned. Not really convinced by any of them, although Barovero could be an upgrade from what we currently have in goal and would arrive as a free agent if he doesn't sign a new contract with Velez.

I also hear Benfica are after Rogelio Funes Mori again and could include Enzo Perez in the negotiations (River needs a player in that position, he's out of favor in Portugal, and he is a huge River fan).

Lastly, for now it doesn't seem likely they'll use the transfer option for Cesar Gonzalez, so the game vs. Almirante Brown could have been el maestrico's last game with la banda.

Are you fucking serious? Although he had an impressive Libertadores this year, Alustiza is a straight-up fracasado who has never won anything and spent his entire career with equipos chicos. First Rolle linked to us, then Zapata, now Alustiza? I am not liking how this transfer market is kicking off.

Besides, we already have Trezeguet, Cavenaghi, Villalva, Rogelio Funes Mori, Ocampos and several promising youngsters like Vila, Pugh, Andrada, etc. in that position. How is he going to fit in?

From what I understand they don't consider him irreplaceable and are trying to liberate one of the four foreigner spots.

Now, I agree with you and everything, but this is precisely one of the things you complained about Passarella doing -- not bringing in players when it was "obvious" there was a problem that needed fixing.

I would certainly not in any circunstances sell Ocampos. The kids 17 hes a massive talent who mixed the wonderful and the woeful. He will massively improve. Some people wanted to sell Rogelio from the start but the pibe did the business and will be a massive center forward.Trezeguet will be a great help to him.In my view we have no problems up front Rogelio,Trezeguet,Cavenaghi and Ocampos in his natural position.
At center back Ramiro.Gonzalez Pirez and Pezzela will all be very good players.Maidana I would sell Lugano would be a terrific replacement or Otamendi.
Cirigliano and Ponzio are fine in the center of midfield and I am very happy with Maestrico when hes fit.
Sanchez is too inconsistent so we need a really good player in the Augusto mould not that Velez would sell.
Goalkeeper and left back are the real crisis points. If we are spending little Orban who is our player has been excellent in Tigres great run.
I like Barovero hes a good keeper and if he joins River he knows he will have areal crack at the seleccion.
At right back Abecasis i would keep but Vella should be replaced.
Unfortuantely unless the Falcao deal from Atleti to Chelsea goes thru we will probably need to sell one of the pibes so we have to wait and see but please Alustiza no Kaiser
