Bojinov 's loan with Lecce expired and he wants to return to Alvalade . I , for one, would rather see him sold.

I the Italian press Bozinov said he wanted to stay in Italy. Who knows, who cares? I can't believe we gave him such a long contract. Terrible buy.

Seems to be an Adrien Silva backlash stemming from the Cup Final and his comments not directly kissing Sporting's ass. Sa Pinto is pissed off. Sounds petty to me. What do you guys think?

This brief statement perfectly summarizes my thoughts:

what did they expect him to do? Not play hard in a cup final for a team that finally gave him a chance to grow as a player by being on the field for significant minutes throughout the entire season? Not trying hard in front sportings directors and various other scouts to try and win a place on their squad next year?

He has no reason to kiss Sportings ass, he was representing Academica and just won a cup with them, he wasnt about to declare love to another team right after.

Adrien spoke when he shouldn't, Sá Pinto didn't like it and made it clear. Nothing more, nothing less. I hope.

Next season I expect him on the first team.

If by any chance this is another Moutinho kind of case (his manager this season was Pedro Emanuel...), send a complaint to FIFA for unauthorized contact with our player and leave him on the Academia practicing alone all season.

I don't believe he's pulling a Moutinho on us, but if he is it's certainly harsh but also necessary. We can't go around being coerced by our own players to sell them to our rivals.

Nothing. He just spoke of the final before the game although both Académica and Sporting forbade their own players of speaking to the press.
Sá Pinto didn't like that and said so on the pre match press conference, and because Adrien had a great game on the final many were led to think the he was hurt by Sá Pinto's words, and tried to upset Sporting for revenge. Like he didn't want to win the trophy for the sake of winning it...

Anyway, a lot of rumours started to appear that he was so hurt he wanted to leave. Him having only one more year on his contract, being coached by Pedro Emanuel on a FC Porto satellite, the Moutinho case, and spending half of last season on loan to some israeli team have all contributed to fuel this rumours.

Joao Perreira just got sold to Valencia for 3.7 millions Euros.

Whats more pressing is Sporting just sold Agostinho and Edgar to Inter Milan.... They really should have kept Agostinho...hes amazing. I thought for sure he was going to break into the first team this year for you guys.

I don't understand it either. Under 1 million for both...3 million if they reach their goals/targets.

Agostinho Ca has A LOT of potential, arguably Sporting CP best prospect in a while. Edgar haven't seen much off.

Perhaps Sporting offered both a contract and they rejected?

Granted I only saw Agostinho in the NextGen series, and although I can see he has potential when he gets physically stronger etc - I don't know if he's the biggest prospect in that Sporting youth team this year

I mean he's really active and lively as ud expect a short DMC, very mobile, pretty fast but moreso extremely quick and covers ground - and also really aggressive and can take care of the ball - but from the games I saw he's just so weak physicially, gets brushed off balance in almost any battle affecting his impact defensively - and although he can play on the ball he lost the ball loads under pressure in dangerous situations trying to dribble his way out.

I mean I don't know, Chaby, Betinho and Bruma seemed to me by far the best and most talented kids in that side - obviously it's a small sample size and it's still youth players - and i'm sure to try and catch a few more games to get a clearer picture.

but I didn't see anything really special in offense of defense in terms of skills regarding Agostinho besides that aggressiveness, mobility, energy and quickness(which he has at a very high level and is an important skill to any midfielder - and when he grows into his own physically it might be highlighted), but I failed to see any real offensive or defensive ability I can see him standout in or say he's above average at.

He did show at times the ability to really burst forward with a dribble which I liked, but that really a few cases in those games I saw.

Btw I don't know if you guys know him - but doesn't he really really reminds of Arouca from Santos in his game?

Ya a bit. But Arouca is taller and not as good with the ball. If he developed into an Arouca player that would be pretty good?

Is Chaby still under Sportings book? I though he was sold to Chelsea?

That is very, very arguable. I'm not too fussed about Agostinho being sold, doubt he ever would have made the first team. He's just another Zezinando. Edgar on the other hand has been amazing. He has a ton of potential. Shame to loase him.
Yes Chaby is still with Sporting. Joao Carlos is the one that was sold to Liverpool.

Seems like Rui Patricio signed an extension, wonder if that changes anything g regarding his likely sale?

With Polga gone and ARod a virtual no-show, we need some CB reinforcements badly.

Supposedly we have made a bid for Botafogo mid Jefferson, from what I've seen clip wise I don't see much yo be excited about.

Aguiar may actually still play for Sporting next season.

Guarda-Redes, do you know anything about some young CBs through your Freitas connection? Someone he liked when he went to the Netherlands a few months ago?

Sorry I haven't been around lately guys, I lost my job (fcuk the economy) and I've been looking 24-7 since April 16th.

    RE: Eredivisie/Dutch defenders.

Jeffrey Gouweleeuw and Jeffrey Bruma were the two Dutch defenders identified by Freitas. Alderweireld and Moisander were the two Eredivisie-based foreigners identified. The Dutch and Eredivisie are very lean at the moment on quality central defenders, after Jan Vertonghen and Douglas the drop off is substantial. Bruma would be capturing a younger CB who has some experience in bigger leagues, Gouweleeuw would be more of a long term project, however he has length, wheels and scores more often than other CB's.

However, I assume you've all read that Freitas is in Brazil now, dealing with Jeferson. There are a few really high quality ones available, but they come at a substantial price e.g. Leonel Galeano. There are several others, but last year I was ripped for even suggesting them due to their price. Flat out, if we want a high quality Brazilian/Argentine CB we are looking at 8-12 million, if our budget is 5 million (speculated) we are definitely looking at a 2nd tier or veteran CB from that part of the world.

Geromel and Bruno Alves are also back in the rumors. But Geromel rejected us last year and Alves I'd have to really consider as a short-term solution. Wages would also be an issue.

IMO a CB pair is made up of two types of players, (1) you have your "sweeper/stopper" a short(er) stout player who is very mobile and covers a lot of ground while being positionally sound (think Cannavaro/Puyol), he should also be able to play the ball forward with confidence; and (2) a tower/header/physical defender, we have that with Onyewu and Xandao and Rodriguez, the question is are they adequate? In my understanding we are looking for a pillar, that could be interpreted as a pinheiro (tall cb) or a very sound player who cleans up others mistakes.

    RE: Midfield
Our strength at the moment lies in our midfield, with Matias, Elias, Schaars, Fito, Izmailov and the potential addition of Adrien we're covered. Our wingers will receive an addition with Zakaria Labyad who will mix in nicely with the speed and flair of Carrillo and Capel. I left out Jeffren because I am unsure if we can count on him until he plays a full season. Jose Yordy Reynas should be purchased from Alianza and sent to Sporting B to play with Lucas Patinho, a solid loan signing. I read about Thorgan Hazard being a possibility but I just don't see it. I'd expect Lille to buy him as soon as the Eden Hazard money hits their bank account.

    RE: Attack
Attack is Van Wolfswinkel and the kid Rubio. We need a #2, someone to step up when Van Wolfswinkel is hurt or goes cold, although I'd argue he went cold because he wasn't being supplied. Ribas clearly is not that player. I have heard nothing about a potential new striker.

    RE: Ownership

I'm curious to see if this brother of Manchester City's owner actually has a legitimate interest in Sporting. It would be nice if he could teach our leaders how to do proper business. Yes I know Man City has consistently run a deficit, but that's due to over spending, I don't foresee this guy throwing around money the same way, rather he'd probably enable us to elevate our spending to that of Benfica or Porto, namely buying sound prospects for 5-8 million euros consistently, rather than our top end players in that same range.

I really, really hope Aguiar doesn't wear a Sporting shirt ever again. Not only is he not good enough, but he's a dick too.
