Union Alum Christian Arrieta appeared as a member of New York Greek American Atlas in their USOC first round loss against Reading United. NY Greek American Atlas is a USASA team that plays in the New York Cosmopolitan league. http://thecup.us/2012-us-open-cup-f...-ny-greek-american-atlas-2-1-in-delayed-game/
Danny Califf is starting for Chivas against LA. It is on ESPN 2 for anybody with the heart to see our former captain in a different jersey. Nakazawa also playing in this match as well.
Knee wasn't good enough to start on our squad, but seemed perfect enough to stand up to Donovan. Trying to think that, at some point, this season HAS to hit bottom and start getting better.
Last night for the City Islanders Morgan Langley had a goal and JT Noone continued his excellent play this season with another assist. Tom Brandt played 45 minutes and has been very impressive for a rookie since joining HCI after his stint training with the Union in the preseason. From earlier in the week here is shot on goal by Langley off of a corner kick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=XUg1TyU4VmU
I'm curious what Naka said to DC before a Chivas corner that made the latter smile. "Finally got out of the Nowak regime it seems."
If you listen very, very closely, he said "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, free at last!"
In the City Islander's Open Cup match with Long Island Morgan Langley played excellent all night long. He recorded an assist on Yann Ekra's game winning goal. Tom Brandt also played well and continues to impress on the backline filling in for captain Dustin Bixler who is injured. JT Noone was his usual self and also played well. Langley cross to Andrew Welker who played a reserve league match for the Union.
No yellow/red cards in league play for his 3+ seasons in MLS. What had happened in last night's ACC against Toronto? Oof.
I was at the game, and I think Naka was promising to get Danny back for absolutely flattening him on a pick during a corner just a few minutes before.
LeToux's first card was for a late tackle and I'm guessing the second one must have been for excessive arguing. Which would be stupid on his part if it was knowing that he already had a card for a bad tackle.
Pseduo-alum (only because pre-draft he said he WANTED to play for the Union): Hertzog Loaned to Wilmington Hammerheads
"Guatemala got forward confidently early on, with Pappa slamming a shot wide from 25 yards in the 20th minute, before a set piece found the head of ex-MLSer Carlos Ruiz in the 26th minute for the match’s only tally. “We wanted to go out and look for the result, and we got it,” Pappa said. “Now there’s something more important coming up for us, which are the qualifiers.” The goal was Ruiz’s 49th for his country, and sent Guatemala on to a morale-boosting victory which has confidence at a high ebb in camp headed into their World Cup qualifying opener against Jamaica on June 8." http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/06/02/us-foes-guatemala-beat-costa-rica-final-wcq-tune Thank God we got rid of that slacker.
This is his goal from last night: Here are his two from last week: He's currently looking for a team btw
Shea Salinas seems to be almost ready to return after missing two months due to that f'ing hack Rafa Marquez. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/06/07/san-joses-salinas-set-make-return-reserve-league
... talking to Portlandia media folks: Hurts almost as bad as seeing Califf in the CDUSA shirt for the first time. Now, where are the Perlaza interview photos?
