In all honesty, will Dortmund be able to cope with players "leaving" this summer.. All these interest talks, Dortmund are a team that's ripe for the picking by all the top teams.. Will Dortmund keep them at all cost or cash in big time and develop more in Europe?
Everybody other than Kagawa has just signed an extension or has a long-term contract. So, I think they are pretty safe for now. Their wage cost will go up however, but they will have no problem attracting good talent due to their success and their concept. Such as Reus, possibly Pizarro, etc ... They have also been pretty successful in signing talented German youngsters and their success up to now has been on giving them a chance. So, I really don't see much of an issue for the short term future.
Which players? Kagawa? I think this run, as magnificent as it is, is short lived. Their coach is brilliant, but a big fat offer from Chelsea or Barcelona ought to do the trick. Either way, can't wait to see Goetze and Reus together next season.
hearing lowendowski say he wants more and move onward? Kagawa? Plus every dortmund talent seems to be in the highest interest for the top clubs, like gotze, hummels, the ones mentioned above, etc.. Are they immune to barca/real/EPL money? Lets say they offer ridiculous amounts for hummels and gotze, would they not be able to until their contracts run out? or can they buy them outright..
I haven't posted in a week or so because of a superstitious belief before a big game but i just had to for this....this thread is too funny....nomination for thread of the year in my opinion lol
LOL...it's going to be a long offseason. Curious to see how this team looks come next season despite all the 'we're not selling' rhetoric.
http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/borussia-dortmund/personendaten/verein_16.html Everyone but Shinji is contracted for another 2-4 years. We'll take it one step at a time. The main players in our team are the system, Klopp's man management and harmony within the squad and Watzke's handling of the financial side of the club. Klopp is not going anywhere for any amount of money. Our scouting is good and we'll keep finding new talent. Koch, Sobiech and Bittencourt are major talents that have not played for us yet. Leitner and Löwe - you all know about. If we actually sell anyone within the next year, we'll be using that money to find new players to fit the system. Losing players is not the issue - the issue would be if we abandon the system and the scouting doesn't remain as good as it is. There are some players like Weidenfeller, Hummels, Kehl and Götze who are leaders and get everyone to buy into the system, but these guys aren't going anywhere at all. He hasn't said that he wants to go anywhere. His agent has tried to stir up interest. If he has a good Euro and we get a crazy amount for him, AND we've gotten Pizzaro, I can see us saying yes. But Watzke said they have found solid ground for further extension-talks. I thought you knew this stuff. We can always say no before the last year of the contract. If we get crazy-money and we say yes, we'll plug it into the system and keep going, although someone like Hummels would be harder to replace than most of the others. But I'm expecting Hummels to extend sometime in the next year anyway. He'll probably be made captain soon because he is the de-facto captain even when Kehl is there. Next season, the best German team in Europe too. I think we'll do better than you guys.
