I'm loving our superior goal differential right now. I just wish Bolton didn't have 2 games in-hand. This should be a fun run to the finish line.
As I say on another thread, one point off Scum would be massive -- possible the difference in the whole season. There are lots of ifs and buts, of course. If Bolton lose or draw to Villa, things look a lot better. If Newcastle, who are playing well and chasing the Champions League spot, can beat Wigan, that's be huge. If Spurs can get their act together and win their next two, that'd help us out a lot. Bottom line is I dont see us getting anything on the last day of the season, which means we have to hope it is decided by then. One point at Scum and three points at home to Stoke and we might just squeak by.
Unfortunately, Bolton beat Villa. Villa 1-2 Bolton. Aston Villa keeps themselves in trouble, but boosts Bolton's chances of passing us and/or Wigan. Bolton still has one game in hand and is now just one point behind us and Wigan. 15 Aston Villa 35 -14 36 16 QPR 35 -18 34 17 Wigan 35 -26 34 ------ 18 Bolton 34 -28 33 19 Blackburn 35 -26 31 20 Wolves 35 -41 23
Check out the BBC predictions for this weekend: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17852284 Here are Mark Lawrenson's predictions for the key games: SATURDAY Stoke v Arsenal 1-1 Sunderland v Bolton 2-1 Swansea v Wolves 2-0 West Brom v Aston Villa 2-0 Wigan v Newcastle 1-2 SUNDAY Chelsea v QPR 1-1 Tottenham v Blackburn 2-0 I bloody hope he is right!!!
Spurs defeated Bolton yesterday, 4-1. Massive result for the R's. Our lead over Bolton in goal difference is now 8. We need Bolton to get no more than 3 points out of their final two games (vs. WBA, at Stoke). 15 Aston Villa 36 -14 37 16 Wigan 36 -22 37 17 QPR 36 -23 34 ------ 18 Bolton 36 -31 34 19 Blackburn 36 -28 31 20 Wolves 36 -41 24
Not looking good. Both games at halftime. We're 0-0 with Stoke. Bolton leads West Brom 1-0 after converting a PK. If these results stand, we're all but down. Need some goals from QPR and West Brom in the second half.
Bolton concede a last minute goal from James Morrison, 2-2. Heartbreak, it seems they're doomed and set for the Championship next season. QPR with a massive win over Stoke there while Villa look to be edging closer towards safety ahead of the final day.
Full time at Bolton, 2-2! Wow. We now have a 2-point lead (plus superior GD) over Bolton. If they win away at Stoke next weekend, we'll need to get a point from Man City to stay up. If they lose or draw at Stoke, QPR remain in the Premier League.
Bolton and Blackburn are gone, unfortunately. Their GD is far far too poor for them to have any hope of staying alive now. QPR aren't safe and a Wigan loss tomorrow could yet make things interesting, but it just seems inevitable that these two are going down this year. Villa are definetly safe now unless they lose by double figures at Norwich.
NEIL WARNOCK SIGNINGS Joey Barton (Free – £70,000-per-week) – The first of Tony Fernandes’ high-profile signings. The first of a number of mistakes in the transfer market. 2/10 Luke Young (Undisclosed – £45,000-per-week) – Added experience to QPR’s defence last season, but struggled with a painful hip injury this term and hasn’t played. 4/10 Armand Traore (£1.2m – £40,000-per-week) – Shown glimpses of why he was so highly-rated by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, but too inconsistent. 5/10 Shaun Wright-Phillips (£2m – £60,000-per-week) – One of the biggest disappointments of all of Fernandes’ signings. Not lived up to his reputation. 3/10 Anton Ferdinand (£2.5m – £45,000-per-week) – Some decent displays early in his QPR career but will be remembered for his race row with John Terry. 5/10 Jason Puncheon (loan) – A summer transfer deadline day signing. Made just two substitute appearances before returning to Southampton. 1/10
