Press out; French and Lewandowski in. http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Womens...undhage-Names-Roster-for-New-Jersey-Camp.aspx
The training camp is listed as Princeton NJ. Does anyone know when they will be training and if it is open to the public?
Now until the 25th and I think there are a few open practices. Wednesday, Friday & next Monday I believe!
http://www.ussoccer.com/Community/Public-Training.aspx U.S. Women's National Team Public Training Saturday, May 26, 2012 from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM (ET) Chester, PA PPL Park
Went to the practice on Friday. I arrived shortly after 4:30 start and it ended before 6:30. Several hundred fans, including some Princeton students drifitng in. The next one is Monday I believe. Hope was not there, another fan told me she had not arrived in camp yet. Tobin Heath did not participate with the team, she clearly has an ankle injury and was exercising on her own along the sidelines with a trainer, then sat out the rest of the time. I counted 21 on the field plus 4 GKs. I think Abby's upper right thigh was wrapped. The players did about 4 different routines, the first with the GKs separately on their own. At the end, more for fun, was some players and Pia took a shot from top of box attempting to hit the crossbar. Arod , the first one, hit it and the rest missed but some were close.
Has anyone heard word from U.S. Soccer about broadcasting the China match next Sunday? The Olympic send off games have always been televised in the past. Even if they can't find room on TV, at the very least they could do a webcast like against Sweden and New Zealand, right? This new forum format is weird.
The send off game is June 30 the announcement said that kickoff is set for 12 p.m. MT and the match will be broadcast live on NBC.
These two have been hampered by injury since the last Olympics. Chalupny, to my knowledge, hasn't played for the USWNT since 2009 because of concussion problems. Strangely she played in all three WPS seasons, but the national team doctors would still not clear her to play. The U.S. team has missed her greatly. Tarpley has suffered two ACL injuries in the last three years, in 2009 and again in 2011 just before the World Cup. When it happens once, most players can come back. When it happens a second time, that's much tougher, both physically and psychologically. It's sad for those two and for the team, since they were among the more technical players. The U.S. central midfield, one of the glaring trouble spots, could really use their creativity. But at this point it seems unlikely they will return. Maybe Tarp will make a go of it again, but something tells me no. Both will be 31 in 2015, and I expect the new coach will want to revamp the squad and look to the future once he/she takes over.
Chalupny will never play for the NT again. She has concusion injury that USSF won't clear her to play, from what I've learned from otehrs. Clubs football have cleared her.
US beat China in a closed door match yesterday 3-0. Goals from Wambach (Rapinoe), O'Reilly (UA), and Morgan (O'Hara). Highlights here.
I'm glad highlights were posted, yet i'm rather bored. Looks like same starting lineup with Rapinoe on the left. 4-4-2. morgan, abby, hao, lloyd, boxx, bheuhler and ohara look to have played a full 90... Cheney came in for Rapinoe and I see Becky S on the back line towards the end... very little tinkering with formation or line up changes. Every offensive Chinese opportunity shown ironically has buehler chasing the ball/player.
And it should be noted that they did get some quality chances in this scrimmage from the looks of the highlight video.
This is what I don't understand about Pia and current selection process. We've heard Pia and other people on Bigsoccer and other boards say that there isn't really any time to change personnel or systems before the Olympics. Which I find totally absurd. If, we count the number of games the NT has played(friendlies, tournament, pratice matches the 45min games and 90min) and the matches NT could have participat in(PAN Games 3group games 2 medal rounds) is a total of 32 matches played or schedule from the end of the WWC to the begining of the Olympics. That's a season worth of matches. How is that not enough time to integrate new players into the 1st team from the WPS, overseas players, u23 or u20 players? How is that not enough time to implement a new formation or tactics? Not a new philosophy but tactics.
Glad to finally see Rapinoe start. But why not have Cheney start too...centrally? I just don't understand why Lloyd is the uncontested #10 now and forever.
