Same with me. I think we need a strong tactician for this team to succeed like AVB. Lets be honest we don't have a team full of world class players. So we need a manager that can give us a tactical edge.

Enrique seems more of a motivator and less of a tactician. He lays down the formation and just lets the players roam freely.

media insisting on montella, but it doesnt make sense.
it would be a way of baldini saying the project failed, plus i was wrong on letting montella go..

Yeah Baldini will probably step down if they appoint Montella since he would feel he failed like LE. That reason alone I don't really want Montella.

Give him another year at Catania. I really am not convinced that he'd be that much better then LE.

Maybe im wrong.... but Baldini had nothing to do with Montella leaving Roma... he came later to the club.

What has Montella really proved ? That he can finish mid table with a team full of priming Argentinians and an awesome forward in Gomez?

Looks like Montella is coming. I would have rather just stuck with LE honestly.

I think Montella is just a smoke screen. Why are you asking? No way Baldini let him choose the old guard again to start like he did last year when he took over for Ranieri. Too many friends still.

The moment Luis Enrique leaves, Villas Boas will be announced. Baldini wanted him last year but the cost was too high. He met him back in March. Villas Boas is the man Baldini wants and he got him. He already gave his word so that is why Valencia couldn't get him. Deal be done already for a few weeks. That is just my 2 cents.

What old guard? Only Totti and DDR will be left of them after this summer, and possibly Perrotta. Cicinho, Cassetti, Pizzaro and Juan are all going away.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against AVB, but the all the rumours seem to be going in another direction.

I prefer MOntella to AVB, but montella is not top choice to me.

I like to remind you mihajlovic did so well with catania too. They are very underrated side, they are one of the best sides in the league technically with there argentinian base.

Anyway, this is same media which linked us to pastore, kameni, higuain... BS rumours..

probably the agent we met of montella, could be representative of another manager or player...media talks nonsense..

Under what certainty do you say that? I think Cicinho and Cassetti expire. However Pizarro is coming back from Manchester City and won't be an easy sell. Juan's agent has repeatedly said he wants to continue here. Besides players aside the biggest risk with Montella is he arrives and fields a 4-2-3-1 with Totti up top every game.

I liked Montella, but the fact he played Doni over Julio Sergio really left a foul taste in my mouth. Aside from that, he was OK, but the feeling of him preferring his friends remains.

One thing I was thinking about all this Montella news is that it could be completely false and started by the media looking to influence the decision in hopes of then criticizing the owners and Franco Baldini. If Montella is coach they can hammer on and on about how they were wrong and messed everything up last season.

It might seem far fetched to you but Baldini has a lot of enemies in and outside of Rome. He practically launched calciopoli and got Moggi banned for life. He even testified against him at his trial. But even in Rome a lot of radio stations are against him. The host of Centro Suono Sport (A Roma station not Lazio) along with a journalist tried to shop a fake document of telephone intercepts that claimed Baldini was a free manson a couple of months ago. The hope was other media would pick up the story and they could they use it to attack Baldini without it being linked back to them.

I think I do too, I want to like the idea of Montella and get behind it. But I just can't seem to bring myself to do it. Ultimately one year at Catania proves very little, and I just have a very big fear that him coming will be big step backwards. Especially in terms of trying to break our Totti dependence. It will be very easy for him to create a Totti dependent team, considering that's the reality he always lived in Rome.

I think Villa Boas, edges him slightly in experience. I know a lot of people are trashing over Chelsea, but when you have some many senators playing against you there is little to do. I think it's also worth noting Villas Boas has experience in Italy under Mourinho, where he was responsible for scouting opponents and preparing technical reports. So he wouldn't be coming into it with the naivety that Luis Enrique probably had.
