I love this save but I remember how pissed I was when we gave up a goal on the subsequent corner... way to say "thanks" to Nicky, boys
Anybody watched this video produced by RSL? I hate this video for two reasons: 1. It makes our fans look like idiots. Obviously we have idiots in our fanbase, by why does RSL send out a video crew to track them down? Our fanbase is actually pretty knowledgeable as a whole...why not look for some of them? 2. If this chick wants to lecture us about all things RSL, maybe she should learn how to correctly say the name of the team.
Really amazing that their is really so little knowledge of the game by so many fans, maybe if she can get some more people to watch her show and learn more about the game it would be a good thing.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have all of the responses and then actually have a complete, factual, explanation of the offside rule? All I got out of that was a few almost correct explanations. When it comes to the offside rule, most people need pictures for it to make any kind of sense. On another note, maybe we should just get rid of the offside rule. There would be so many more goals...
I was "that guy" and got pissed on fb about what the actual law says. Leone Cruz is not an articulate guy at all oh, and that chick? how many "how to ask a question" classes did she fail?
It's "Jaywalking ... starring Muffie McBlondy" Seriously, they're trolling for idiots and calling it a production. Too bad they didn't get someone clever enough to contrast his good side w his offside or to claim the rule applied to the border between the US & Mexico...
It is great to see so many points so far in the season with the team not playing that great. Especially since we've played about half on the road. Also last weekend was the first time we've had our full XI on the pitch (thanks Will for killing that). Once the team gets the defense figure out, with Beckerman playing home more or whatever it will be and we get our first team playing most games together, this team will be scary to play against. Honestly this weeks games I'm looking for a point in Chicago and I'll be happy with a loss in Seattle as long as Rimando doesn't end up paralyzed from Montero doing his usually jump into players while they're in the air, and Rimando landing on his neck wrong. It seems every time he does that it would be so easy for the keeper, who's hands are going up for the ball and not protecting their fall, to land on their neck/head.
Save of the week is up. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/05/08/vote-now-save-week-week-9 Spoiler, Homeboy and Matt Reis combine for 2 nominations total this week.
Um, I'm not sure what save of the week you are looking at but the one that I saw has Nick nominated for two saves. As of right now, Nick's first save is leading the pack, but I voted for his save off Brettschneider's header.
I am not going to disagree with you, but that first save isn't terrible. What I am annoyed with is that they have had nominations in the past that featured multiple saves for the same candidate (1 vote). These 2 saves my Nicky were roughly 30 seconds apart, why not just combine them and make it one candidate?
I think it's dumb in general to have 2+ in the same week. Combine them to show how good they were but splitting them just splits the vote. I agree the second one is better, but they're both good enough to be SOTW. At the rate Rimando is going he might just have a 50% chance for save of the year.
SO when KendaReal says that Reis and Rimando combine for two SOTW noms, and we respond that he's nuts 'cause Nicky has two - well, did anyone check to see how many Reis has been nominated for?
Haha thank you, that was what I was going for. After the NE game a lot of us thought SOTW nominees would be comprised of just Reis and Rimando.
I think Reis's face save should have been nominated over all the others save Nicky's 2 and the Busch save
SOTW Nick has 34.5% on his first, and 21.2% on his second. Very irritating they didn't combine them because the Busch save is impressive and might steal it
it's stupid because the nick saves are splitting his votes. he'd be running away with this thing easily if they had just combined them.
Meh. It isn't the same play, or even continuations of the same play. Close together doesn't matter. Divided into two is the way to go in my opinion.
I guess I'm the only one who doesn't want Nick to win this award. If a GK is having to make tons of spectacular saves like Nick has this year, it's because the defense is hanging him out to dry. Put another way, back in 2010 when the RSL defense was (arguably) the best in MLS history, how many times do you think Nick would have won the award? Probably zero. He probably wouldn't have even been nominated very often because the defense wasn't allowing many shots and the ones they did allow were from good places on the field (i.e. easier to make saves from). Here's hoping Nick never wins this award again...
I agree...but a save is still a save. I would be happier than sh*t if he isn't even nominated. Hopefully, out corner kick defense gets better...definately not up to par.
Good point IBIK Does Nicky or any other player get some sort of bonus for winning these weekly awards, though?
