benzema is considered the number 1 striker in real madrid, but:

higuain scored 4 goals during the 2010 world cup with argentina, and scored 1 in copa america
benzema never scored in official competitions for france, despite being the same age than higuain

this season, so far, higuain is the 3rd top scorer of la liga, with 20 goals in 1378 minutes (he was a starter for 14 matches)
benzema has 17 goals in 1700 minutes (he was a starter for 20 matches)

in champions league benzema scores more, but higuain only started 4 matches and benzema 8
and benzema had incredible misses in champions league

some of these misses can be seen in this compilation:
    http://youtu.be/1nP5GJTi-n0

so since every thing shows higuain is better, why does benzema play as a titular, while higuain thinks about leaving the club?

    http://www.aniveldecancha.com.mx/nota/1303/higuain-esta-harto/

    summary of the article:
higuain is tired of being poorly considered in real madrid, despite scoring a lot more than benzema. he asked the club to think about selling him, so he should leave the club at the end of the season.
the article mentions that even the players prefer higuain to benzema, as benzema only talks to the other french lassana diarra.
they also say that benzema is paid more than higuain.

    why benzema plays as titular:

translation: "higuain is affraid that mourinho might have chosen to play with benzema as a titular because of florention perez's lobbying. the club owner, who advertised benzema as a "galactic" (very famous players bought by real madrid to gain popularity), asked the coach to make the most of benzema. he wants benzema to be titular, and, when in similar contition, benzema will always be ahead of higuain. it's very important for florentino perez that nobody can tell him that he paid too much for a striker who improved, but remains less crucial than higuain when he is at his best".

    http://www.elconfidencial.com/depor...rentino-perez-cuando-nadie-creia-en-el-95167/

    translation:
"mourinho didn't want benzema in his team, but florentino perez, one of the few who was able to talk to benzema because he was fluent in french, insisted on benzema playing for real madrid, and ruined the coach's efforts
but mourinho asked for benzema to be replaced until higuain's injury in november of 2010"

and i won't even talk about pellegrini, who was benzema's first coach in real madrid (he would have never accepted to play with benzema as number one striker)

but why does florentino perez love benzema so much? because he is arab, so he is very popular in the arabic-muslim countries, so he helps real madrid to conquer the arab market, like zidane before him. see for example benzema's presentation to the fans when he was bought:

    http://youtu.be/HB1Em22z1UE

with caricatural arabic music (while benzema, like most french arabs, prefers french rap)

we saw recently that arabic countries are really important for florentino perez (see the resort island they created in dubai)

I'd take Higuain over Benzema easily. The former is a far better finisher and one of the best in the world at breaking through defenses.

But Benzema is far more of a "Mourinho striker". More physical, more well rounded. Part of it could be marketing as Zidane's successor or whatever, but a lot of it is that Mourinho likes big strikers.

Higuain deserves better, hopefully he leaves.

In my opinion he is not overrated. He is a young and very talented player. Distinguishing him from Higuain is difficult because they have such different playing styles. In my opinion Benzema's quick and aggressive style compliments Ozil and Ronaldo much more than Higuain's smart and patient style. I like Kaka and Higuain on the pitch together, but the combination of Ronaldo, Ozil, and Benzema is deadly in my opinion.

Overrated when he came to bernabeu. I blame the media for over hyping him that season. I remember reading things like he's the next Ronaldo or Thierry Henry. Lets just say people had VERY high expectations from him. He's now worth it.

I like Benzema more than Higuian. Benzema is a very well rounded player. Higuian has better CF qualities than Benzema. Benzema and Ronaldo have better chemistry.

you got everything right, except that mourinho never liked benzema, he used to call him "the president's frenchman" because he was here because of florentino perez (because florentino perez wanted to raise interest in the middle east)

French players in general seem to get overrated. I don't know why, but think about it: Benz, Nasri, Abidal, Clichy, Lass, Anelka, Gallas... the list goes on and on...

How much longer are we going to give Benzema the benefit of the doubt by saying he's "young"?

I would of played Higuain in some games, or even played them together. When they played together against Dinamo Zagreb, it was hell for Zagreb. Higuain usually plays that CF position and Benz floats to the right.. To answer your question: No. I think he's shown that he wants to work harder and become a better player. Despite getting no PT when he first came to RM, he worked hard, and I think that's the best aspect of his game.

    against malaga

higuain is injuried, and all the real madrid fans must be hoping that he'll come back soon, because benzema is CLEARLY NOT good enough

    benzema's latest horrible miss
he couldn't have any impact against manchester united in champions league, while higuain created ronaldo's goal thus allowing real madrid to qualify against the european giants

this has to be his last season in real madrid

hopefully this clown will be sent to a russian wasteland and we will never hear about him again

by the way benzema is breaking every record in the french national team, currently he has spent 10 matches as a starter without scoring in a row, around 50 shots without scoring, 840 minutes

in the french national team, no striker ever did anything nearly as bad as this

and against spain in a very important match, giroud replaced benzema with 5 minutes left to play, and he immediatly scored this very important goal for france:

If you go by all the hype he received than yes he is overrated, I never rated him that high though, he is an inconsistent striker, but than again most are, except for messi. I still prefer him to Higuain.

i think that higuain should get the chance to start in the most important matches during a whole season
with argentina he scores a lot, he's the top scorer in the south american section of world cup qualifying, ahead of suarez or messi (with argentina messi plays differently than he does with barcelona though)
meanwhile benzema never scores with france (1000 minutes without a goal, still counting)

Last season they were both great, this season they were both very bad. Shit happens. Lets see what happens this summer, but I dont think 1 of them is better then the other.

Both players are ridiculously overrated, tbf

    Neither are big match players.
