I don't hate Adams, and i don't think its a coincidence that Adams injury resulted in a poor league run. My point is that young players like Vidal are the type of players we should be looking for. Vidal has yearssssss ahead of him ,and his value will only increase. Adam, on the other hand, won't get any better. As an investment, it's not hard to see that Vidal is a better long term velue for money. These young players are the type of players we should be going after. Henderson is a clear example, but boy were we ripped off!...we have to be smarter in the transfer market if we want to get back to the CL places.
I know Charlie looks like he has a Nigerian passport but there is 18 months difference between him and Vidal. How does one player have years to improve while the other has peaked? Vidal probably is better than Adam, hence costing 50% more.
Vidal was there for the taking for two years before he left for Juve and he was absolutely fantastic. If they were just willing to look they'd find quality, its there.
Rumor has it Dempsey is a transfer target: http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/69/t...utive-chairman-werner-expects-active-transfer "Deuce" is my favorite player. I've seen him play a few times... with the Revs before he left, and twice at Craven Cottage last September. He is really good, it's true, but... I don't think he's the answer for LIverpool. Dempsey tends to dribble with his head down and doesn't distribute that well. He doesn't have a silky smooth game. Yes, he's the best player on a second-rate squad. But I don't think he'd adjust that well to Liverpool. Fulham is a really smallish club with a cozy stadium, Deuce gets to have the ball a lot. He's kind of like Carmelo Anthony in that way. So I can't recommend him for a top class side, though I guess there are plenty who disagree. Hopefully, Deuce will prove me wrong... I would really get Balotelli if he were available. That guy is instant offense. What an incredible athlete. Sock
Goal.com Article [x] Comparison of soccer player to popular NBA/NFL player [x] Mention of experience purchasing said player on FIFA 12 or Football Manager [ ] So very, very close! We almost had our first sighting of a perfect summer transfer post, better luck next time. Happy hunting!
So LFC's Media Watch (I cannot be the only one who hears some sort of 'Breaking News' music cue upon reading that) has us linked to Younes Belhanda from Montpellier (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/media-watch/metro-french-star-linked-with-reds). Any Ligue 1 watchers have an opinion of him?
I only had a go because every body knows a Carmello Anthony type player is exactly what our squad needs.
I see Fiorentina is losing Montolivo to Milan (for free) who happened to have lost Pirlo to Juventus (for free). What odds Liverpool loans Aquilani to Fiorentina for a further year with an option to buy , but then snap up a freebie and fail to take the option? Crickey, we're poor at business, we are.
The fact that he refers to himself as "Deuce" makes me never want to see him in a Liverpool kit. That and his skill.
It's not the signing of Montolivo that is hindering the sale of Aquilani but rather the form of on loan Sulley Muntari. Brought in to cover for the injured Alberto and has been a starter in a team who has won 29 out of a possible 36 points. It's also a worry that Cassanno has recovered match fitness quicker from major heart surgery than Aquilani did from an ankle injury. As it is if we cant find a buyer this summer we may as well keep him than once again pay half his wages for him to play for another club. Cole as well. These are most likely the replacements for Kuyt and Maxi rather than brand spanking new players we are all hoping for.oop:
Yeah, we might have to. Unfortunately Cole still has -- I think -- two seasons left on his contract, so we can't let him go for free yet. But wasn't there talk of a Ligue 1 club wanting to sign Cole?
I think talk was all it was. He seems happy there and has done OK but the only team who could afford his wages, PSG, will be after much better players.
Man, that Hicks and Gillette really screwed us over in that summer. We lost the core of the midfield and saddled us with "cheap" players (and an extension for Carra, who wasn't going anywhere). If you pay too much to buy a player who doesn't work out, you can write off the cost. But high wages screw up your future flexibility.
The only good part of the Cole deal was that we didn't actually pay a fee to get him. If we had paid Chelsea to get him on top of paying Cole £130,000/week wages it would have been so much worse.
The thing is, I don't think we would've paid him those wages had he not been free - I think we (supporters, media, etc) have to start looking at total player cost, and not look at fees and wages separately, and recognize that higher wages have costs beyond the weekly paycheck.
Not really. Milan had wanted Monty from last summer but Fiorintina refused to sell. They've both played together for Italy so they are not incompatible. Had Aquilani not got injured and Muntari not brought in or came back playing like he performed in October he would of easily picked up the required 25 appearances. He's been given chances since he returned from injury, he started in the cup draw against Juve and the league draw against Catania and looked unfit in both. Its not some conspiracy, as he would never of came off the bench in 2 games last month in the 85th minute when Milan were winning but down to the coaches preference of player. Allegri prefers a more robust midfielder like Muntari or Nocerino who are technically inferior to Aquilani but will run all day and be amongst the goals. Its one of the reasons why Pirlo wasn't utilized as much last season but has been great for Juve. There is still a chance they might sign him but the fact that he took as long to recuperate from an ankle injury as Cassano did from heart surgery might give Milan cause for concern.
I think the club does finally realize this as we backed out of the Sylvain Marveaux bosman who has, much to my suprise , been injured for most of the season.
