Is it an exaggeration to call Wisconsin a sleeping giant?

It may be, but there aren't a whole lot of schools that have a bigger athletic budget and field a men's soccer team. And you'd be hard-pressed to find a major college that's gone longer without even a single NCAA bid. I think their last one was their miracle title run in 1995.

Last fall was John Trask's first real recruiting class there, and he landed some good players. On paper, Drew Conner is another big addition for this fall. If this program gets started on a steady upward course, it could go a long way.

I'm not going to defend the man but I laugh every time I see UConn on the Shit list. I think it's clear that he NEVER EVER will announce his recruits- some valid reason's I'm sure and some not valid at all. IMO- the UConn program isn't trying to promote it's program too heavily with American kids (if you look at who they recruit) who would pay attention to this type of thing.

Fair enough- wasn't trying to argue the point or defend the program/Ray Reid, however there is some logic behind it. That's my only point.

Or like somebody said in the warning thread, Mr. Reid might be refusing to announce his recruits just to piss Sandon off!

    Hey, you never know.

Any news out there about Christiano Francois from New Jersey? Reports from January had him slated to go to Maryland, there had been nothing else that contradicted that, and he isn't on their signee list.

Don't know, maybe he's one of the "others" mentioned in the release that will be announced later.

OMAHA, Neb. -- Twelve men, including four transfers, are part of the Creighton men's soccer recruiting class for 2012. The group will help offset the loss of seven starters, including four MLS draft picks, from last year's team that finished 21-2-1 and reached the College Cup.

Although headliner Mario Rodriguez is apparently not part of it.

Not that he would've been the answer to their goalscoring needs, but without him, this fall's UCLA team looks pretty weak at forward.

Perceptive post Hararea. I am of the same opinion and to be blunt disappointed in this class in that it doesn't address the huge gaps created by the loss of Rowe and Hoffman. The loss of Foxhoven to Louisville only exacerbates the gap at forward. The lack of a solid playmaker in the midfield is also glaring.

So with the loss of Pelosi to Liverpool and Rodrigues to presumably the pros, it appears at least in looking at this class, UCLA had no alternative strategy or plan for this eventuality. You would think a couple of JUCO transfers would of been in the mix similar to the strategy UCSB is using. I don't endorse the Gaucho strategy entirely but I do think it useful to fill recruiting gaps when kids A, leave the program early, or B, when planned recruits decide to pursue a professional career instead of college. It also seems to me directionally that there is a bit of an imbalance of recruits coming via the LA Galaxy Academy program. It would seem a program of UCLA's stature should be pulling from a nationwide pool rather than just down the street. Where are the players from Texas or Chicago or Florida? It will be interesting to see if more of an imbalance will occur with the departure of K. Arena as I would be willing to bet it was his impetus and effort that pulled in those out of staters in this class. Lastly, I would like to see more effort in identifying and signing those guys that are flying under the radar (i.e. Hoffman) as opposed to the A List or those with a high risk of turning pro early. Perhaps even a player or two from out of country (Ghana, Jamaica etc) to add just a bit more diversity if you will. Just my two cents for what it's worth.
