Thanks! Yea, Hoyos is a Barcelona/ trained DT. He worked wiht the youth team earlier in his career, and many credit him for being one of the ugys who brought messi as a kid there.

He takes his tactics, training, mentality/psycology all from Barcelona and their training he has learned. He has brought science in to help keep our players in their best shape constantly tesitng their endurance on a treadmill with their hear rates, and all that stuff you see at european clubs. He also tests their blood nad other things to help keep track of their health.

But yea, that is his attitude towards our players, to be humble, but never be affraid of the opponent. Come out attacking.... push and play fast, attacking futbol.

    On the other topic:

    I missed the Banana part.

I did see him get thrown with Tangerine skins and he fell to the floor..... Is that the fruit you may be talking about?

I didn't see anything with bananas.... while I agree its stupid and out of hand for fans to act like that....

Neymar too acted like they threw a rock or battery at him... when it was a friggin' tangerine skin!!

I hope we don't get fined....but understand if we do. Nothing should be thrown... but at the same time Neymar doesn't have to act like he was shot. Pick up the piece, show the ref, and have him do something!

His time weasting and flopping on the ground was terrible.... if Arce got a yellow for falling to the gruond after a weak bump from the defender.... Neymar too should have gottne something...

Yeah, he is, and I would love to have him back. Just don't take the penalty.

But to be fair, Neymar is a skinny little guy. A tangerine skin to him is probably like a battery to most of us. :D

It's not the same as having a rock thrown at you, but it's still unacceptable and crass behavior. And who knows what the fans did with that orange before? How do we know, say, that a fan didn't spit on it, for example? The physical damage from an orange may be minor (unless it were to hit an athlete straight at the nose, for example), but it's still degrading and rude.

Some Bolívar players joined the police in gesturing the fans to stop.

But it wasn't just Neymar. Abel Neto, a Rede Globo reporter, was interviewing Neymar immediately after the end of the match, when he was struck by a bottle. Objects were thrown at Santos as they left the pitch.

I appreciate the passion fans bring to the stadium, and Bolívar fans must have been particularly pumped, given this is the first time their team reached the knockout stages, all the more against the defending champions. But this isn’t the way to behave.

Ironic he missed a PK at such a pivotal time. He scored the first time he played for your NT and he scored the lone Argentine goal against Brasil at Rosario Central in September of 2009. He also scored on his first game for Internacional this year.

Wonder whether Nei will take PKs in Rio de Janeiro if there are any. I doubt Dorival Jr. will allow him to kick after this error.

I get where you are coming from, and yea... it's going to happen anywhere though when you welcome the champs. Fans will be rabid trying to get into the players heads. But throwing things like bottles... had that been what hit neymar... would be one thing....but it was tangerine peels. Some spit on those peels still won't add to the 'hit of it' like a spit ball.

Neymar milked it for all he could.

Not defending the fans... but at the same time don't ignore Neymar pulling a 'Rivaldo' there....

ANd this is NOT the first time we made it past the group stages mate.

Yes, it's a bolivian team... and yes we haven't done well in ages... but have more respect and do some research before you say such things!

1986 - we went to the Semi Finals

1988 - We were eliminated in the second round.

1989 - Eliminated in the second round.

1991 - We were eliminated in the second round despite being the group winners of Boca Juniors and River plate and Oriente Petrolero.

1993 - We were eliminated in the second round.

1994 - We were eliminated in the quarter finals.

1995 - Eliminated in the second round.

1997 - Eliminated in the quarterfinals.

1998 - Eliminated in the quarterfinals.

2000 - Eliminated in the quarterfinals.

2012 - Up to the second round so far....

Second rounds - 4... so far.

    Quarter Finals - 4 times.

    Semi-finals - made it once.

in 26 years... this is how we stand.

Do some research on my team before you talk man.... that can come off offensive...

So it's not your team's first time past the round of 16. Well, the webpage I read that off from needs better fact-checkers. I promptly admit I'm not familiar with Bolivian teams' history in the Libertadores tournaments of the past, although I'm glad Bolivar made it (it did play well in the opening round).

There was no offense intended - so don't see it if it's not there. :)

If you watch the replay of Datolos PK miss for INTER you will see first Tinga and Nei approach him...then you will see Inter goalie Muriel appraoch Datolo and almost seem to argue with him. What was happening is that Inter coach Dorival Jr. ordered Nei to take the PK, Muriel went there to tell him. Datolo though brushed him off and said he would take it. A few weeks ago Datolo had missed a PK in the Gauchão Championship while Nei had scored on a PK last year. Usually D'Alessandro is the taker but was inhured.

At times, Inter is profoundly irritating.

A little trivia for the round of 16…

When it faces Boca Jrs., União Espanhola will at least go into the pitch with the experience of facing teams with Italian origins. Just as Boca’s nickname “Xeneize” comes from the Italian word “Genovese,” which is a native of Genoa in Italy, teams like Palestino and Audax Italiano have Italian origins, and União’s games against these teams are nicknamed “Clássico das Colônias” in Chile. And, they have never played each other.

Liberdade, the tough and solid Paraguayan team facing Cruz Azul, has home field - but it may wish to take note that when Cruz Azul reached the final of the Libertadores in 2001, it eliminated a Paraguayan side (Cerro Porteño). And, they have never played each other.

Although Emelec is the fifth Ecuadorian team Corinthians faces in Libertadores play (O Nacional, Esportivo Conca, Espoli, and LDU Quito), it’s the first time the opponent is from the seashore city of Guayaquil. And, they have never played each other.

In the only previous occasion Vasco and Lanús faced each other in a continental tournament, Vasco advanced; it lost the first match 2-0 and won the second match 3-0. However, that time Vasco had home field, so if history repeats itself, Lanús will advance by virtue of home field advantage.

Internacional has won 20 of the 51 matches it has played against Fluminense, but in the past 21 games (including the first leg in Beira-Rio last week), Internacional has only won 5 times. This is an 11-year span. The last Internacional win in Rio de Janeiro was in the 2008 Brasileirão (1-2). In the 2009 Brasileirão, a 2-2 draw (which if repeated would benefit Internacional). But in 2010 and 2011, Fluminense won by 3-0 and 2-0 respectively.

Just want to correct that small part by stating that the club originates from Palestinian immigrants and are still heavily funded by Palestinians living in Chile. Until recently their shirt sponsor was also the Bank of Palestine.

Turns out that Atletico Nacional fired their head coach right before the game with Velez.

Yeah, I don't know why they sacked the manager a day before the game, hopefully they can get Osorio or Leonel Alvarez before the 2nd leg.

    Do a Chelsea.

Firing the manager right before the round of 16 ... not a winning formula.

Velez with a good result away. But Martinez missed a PK in the 2nd half - otherwise, they'd be going home with a 0-2 win and a probably secured quarterfinals spot. Atletico Nacional did have some chances and Pabon looked dangerous despite not scoring.

This should be interesting come the return game.

Granted, Velez is not exactly Barcelona. But it's a lot easier to "do a Chelsea" when you first win at home like Chelsea did.
