Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era For the record I never said Omar Bravo was not a legend at the club, I merely said I do not want him back as a player because he is past his prime but as a strikers coach definitely.
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era El Choul"ELL, when I make statements you disagree with, does it lower your opinion of me? What can I do to instead make you reconsider your beliefs?" No not at all. i was just saying that "how can anyone say that the reason were in the semis was bravo?" Liborio? the defense? the dudes passing the ball to bravo? The reason we made it to the semis was because that team, as a whole, played well enough to get to the semis-- from the first game to the last game.
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era Dont get sucked into their whirlpool. You write an objective comment about bravo and when they read it all that seems to make it into their brains is "bravo sucks. that is all." DOnt worry too much. THey dont know how to compartmentalize and analyze a comment the way it is written.
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era Alright, perhaps I should have said "one of the reasons", rather than "the reason". But my reaction to sleepy's "didn't do jack squat" still stands. In a game where so much is in the view of the beholder, goal scoring is one of the few undeniable facts. Could someone else have scored if starting for Bravo? Sure, why not. But there wasn't a someone else starting for him. We only have what happened. And without Bravo's goals, we don't pass over Velez or Libertad. He clearly "did jack squat". Anyway, that is the last I am going to say about this (for now ). Sleepy-I get you not wanting him to come back to play. Neither do I. As for the offseason, the latest I heard was that the team returns around May 25, when JvS joins.
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era No nomas eran los goles de Bravo, sino el liderazgo en la cancha y colmillo y experiencia para manejar los partidos. El equipo estuviera perdido sin él.
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era I love Omar Bravo as much as the next Chivas fan and I have the utmost respect for him but I strongly feel the reason we got so far in the tournament is because of the team and coaches clicking on all cylinders. Bravo did "jack squat" but he could not have done "jack squat" without his teammates and coaches there to help him. Chivas win as a team and lose as a team.
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era What? Is that all you can say? I'm making too much sense that you cannot post a counter argument? Deja de mamar tanto a Bravo guey....
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era Hey, choul.... as a super mod, is there any strings you can pull to create a Chivas sub-forum? Should be by invite only... for the rational and knowledgeable. Make it happen, yo!
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era Lol, ok I will leave you alone....do not want to make you cry.
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era compartments? Futbol is not rigid like the NFL where you have your defensive specialists, your offensive specialists and special teams. And even within those you have further breakdowns, QB, RB, TE, Kicker etc. Futbol is very fluid so you need the ability to see and make more nuanced judgements.
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era take benitez from america and they become mediocre again. its not that hard to see how in football, the calibre of a player is important.

Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era This. It pains me to say it but Chivas run to the Copa Librrtadores final is similar to the Nads playing in the Confederations Cup final. They didnt exactly get there by playing great, a few lucky bounces and scoring in the few chances they had proved to be enough. Now, I too would prefer De Nigris but with all the money Vergara had spent on team Cryuff I just dont expect any quality transfers. In that sense, I would go after players that can benefit the club in other aspects than just the obvious quick fix. That said, its time to get rid of Arellano and Medina. I called for their transfers two seasons ago. I don't think they have much else to offer the club than what they have already shown. That and there are many similar players in the cantera.
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era Venado should definitely leave the club, I'm not so sure about letting Arellano go. If we can get a quality player in return for him than I'd be ok with it.
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era Two seasons ago you could have actually traded them for decent players. This poses an interesting question. I doubt Van't Schip will watch that many films over a year old. So while he'll hopefully get input from Real and others, who do you think he is willing to ship off based on the past year's performance? Or if that is too depressing, who do you think he would label as "non transfers"?
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era Should have been named something along the lines of "The search for the perfect value meal: 2012 off season thread" or "I can haz a whopper:2012 off season thread?"
Re: 2012 Off Season Thread: The Cryuff Era Whomever started the thread misspelled Cruyff, although they probably did it on purpose.
