at least 3? i think you're exaggerating. they hit the woodwark twice but so did we. but they only managed to play even with us at a great cost in energy and above all in officiating goodwill: they were lucky to finish the first half at 10, they could have been down to 10 long before the half hour and 9 or even 8 by halftime. the way their president was talking before the match it was no surprise, the butchery was premeditated. all week long language like "il faut les tuer", "ils ne sortiront pas vivants" was being thrown around. there was a big brouhaha in the tunnel at HT too. the whole thing was a f***ing disgrace. after his goal gomis got a yellow card for cupping his ears at the savages, but afterwards he explained it was because he had been getting monkey calls all night and was even hit with a banana. gazelec is in for one helluva convocation before the disciplinary committee... or should be, but when you see the kid gloves used with corsican clubs for even worse, my guess is they'll get like a 2,000€ fine and their next cup match behind closed doors at the most.
one bright spot though: for the first time in memory everyone (except the corsicans) is congratulating OL for a victory. unanimously. in the past even beating real madrid didn't win us this kind of props!
There seems to be a lot of animosity between Corse and France, and given the history I suppose its not a big surprise but its a shame. Anyone who has ever travelled to Corse knows that it is a beautiful place and the people are really quite nice.
Holy Handbags Batman! What an ugly game overall. I couldn't hear the calls in my feed, but I knew that Gomis was being abused because he was livid. I would like to say it wasn't expected from those lot. And Gomis is not the type of player to taunt anyone. They had some decent movement in the first half, but I would agree with Guignol and say they couldn't have easily been up 3 goals, because we had just as many quality chances in the half. After their legs gave out, it was a steamroll. Nice heads up play from Grenier to get that third. 23 buts in all comps for Gomis, he can't be ignored!!!
I was going to make a quip about the Corsicans being 'wannabe Italiens', and their disgusting behavior towards Gomis was par for the course, but I stopped myself. Well now I said it anyway, cuz that's how I feel
Haha true. But pertaining to Blanc, what will be his justification for leaving Gomis off? He can't spell his name on the team sheet? Second right now in the league scoring for frenchmen. Impeccable at leading the line with his workrate and finishing abilities. Strong, quick, can play the passing game. I would love to see him coming to matches at 60th and just bossing tired defenses in the Euros. I will be apoplectic if doesn't at least see the warmup matches before the tourney.
I'm convinced that Gomis will be at the Euros come June. Every coach has his holdouts until the day comes when holding out any longer would just be stupid.
Aulas at the half time, Lisandro is holding him back. hahaha [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkm6ZoNaLqM"]Licha retient Aulas prêt à en découdre à l'entrée du vestiaire à Ajaccio - YouTube[/ame] He's on the left.
40 hours have passed, and i've doing a lot to cheer myself up: some light reading (lautréamont), some gardening (in numbingly cold wind and rain), a rib tickling movie (bresson's la vie moderne), so now i'm recovered enough to post a comment... aaaaaaaaarrrrggghhhh%@#&*^&#%!!!!!!!!
Yea, I didn't post in the aftermatch of that 'match'. I just didn't know what to say. I still don't, and as I've waited long enough to let the rage subside, I can't even go on a rant for a paragraph or two. That was probably the worst cup final I've ever seen.
