That was hilarious! I'd like to see "The Toilet" celebrated by an away team right under the home-team goalmouth. It should make SportsCenter.
In high school against our rivals since 1919 [which is amazing out West], we had our GK go to the forward spot for the second half, score, run to the corner flag and pull it out, use it like a tommy gun on our entire team running to him and fall down dead. Best goal celebration I've seen live.

Seattle-Tacoma Los Angeles Houston Las Vegas Norfolk VA Columbus OH Dallas-Ft. Worth Miami-Ft. Lauderdale St. Louis Washington DC From the above link............If indeed these are the top ten national tv game markets, then it's dumb to have NYRB on national tv half the time, at the expense of other good teams like KC and RSL, and often, the Texas teams. Yes, the networks dont have the luxury of picking the best game each week like the NFL, but they league could sure help by having fixed schedules and always at least two options for the network game. And I too believe that a network game should be on at least one weeknight. Monday or friday night association football ( two games for the network) to choose from. I also like the idea of the national saturday game being early. But not too early. 2 pm ET should be good. Chance for some soccer dads to get back home from rec league and the hardcore fans who are going to the night games still have not left.
Those were the top 10 local ratings leaders that watched MLS nationally broadcasted games in 2010. Las Vegas, Norfolk, Miami, and St. Louis has greater local ratings than the majority of MLS teams on nationally broadcasted matches.

Interesting story from Mexico... Mexican clubs break away from FMF and form independent league Representatives of all 18 first-division teams in Mexico decided unanimously to break away from the FMF and persue an independent league styled after the English Premier League. FMF general secretary Decio de Maria has been named the league's commissioner. The new independent league - dubbed "Liga Premier" by the local media - has proposed many changes from the older format. Similar to England's Barclays Premier League, the Mexican league is looking to have a designated sponsor. Expanding the league from 18 to 20 will also be strongly considered.
I think one of the more interesting ideas from the article is the part on ties. If two teams tie 0-0 no points are awarded, 1-1 both teams receive 1 point, 2-2 both teams receive 2 points. I like the idea for 0-0 games, not sure about the 2 points for 2-2 though.
Interesting, a couple of months ago there was an interview with Don Garber where the New York Red Bulls having better local TV ratings than the Galaxy was accepted and discussed as unchallenged fact? Could it be a percentage vs. volume issue? Edit: Sorry didn't see the nationally broadcast games distinction. I guess we like our Red Bulls more than we do MLS in general.
