Eh... I base my dislike for Yura on this:
    http://web.archive.org/web/20071010...918&content_id=117817&vkey=news_mls&fext=.jsp

    With emphasis on:
This from a guy that everyone thought we were crazy for picking at #4.

I can understand that a player wants to move on, and perhaps I'm unfairly basing my opinion off of a one-sided explanation, but it just rubbed me the wrong way.

And partially because I really liked Yura when he was here too and was sad when he was traded... only to find out that it was Yura himself demanding the trade.

First off, if I hear one single negative song or chant directed at Arnaud, I will flip shit.

BUT, if we're naming some kind of All Time Loathsome XI, ok I'm game:

Hard for me to hold a grudge against someone who asks to leave and then proves at his new club that he really was too good to be collecting splinters in his ass. Yura and Herc both fall in this category. So does Hesmer, now that I think of it.

    Will John...does not.

Auvray peut aller se faire foutre.

Ryan Smith: Depends on whether you buy the sick parent story. If true, I think we would all wish him well in his pursuits. Unfortunately, I've heard testimony to the contrary, so I will take no position.

Diego IAFC Walsh: I don't know the story behind the strong hatred of Walsh, but since it's so universal it's hard for me to dispute.

Lalas: Again, predates my fandom but he's universally reviled, so I think it's safe to say the hatred is justified.

Omar Bravo is another candidate. He certainly walked out in a huff.

Carlos Marinelli. Basically mailed it in for several years, refusing to get fit. I'll never forget Onalfo (or maybe it was Vermes) making him ride a stationary bicycle on the sideline.

Speaking of Onalfo, how about his BFF Kurt Morestink?

How about somebody like Louis Gil, whom we drafted and then he refused to play for us?

It was a lottery that we got Gil, not a draft.

Nope, gotta be the Davey Crockett melody. Everyone in Arrowhead could clearly understand and participate in that one, which is rare for chants in general in that era, and especially for player specific ones.

Preki's departure occurred during a lull in my fandom, unfortunately. What is the bad blood? As a fan I am not terribly interested in anything political, I just appreciated his play on the field. Maybe he was unorthodox and the competition then wasn't what it is now, but the man was magic on the field. Preki and Mo are all time greats with the organization, no matter what happens off the field. That KZ goal up thread? That's a Preki blueprint right there...

And the vast majority of fans now have never heard it or understand why it's done. Plus we're not at Arrowhead anymore and he didn't exactly do anything at LSP to make him 'king' there.

In actually game related stuff, Montreal has 2 games still before they play us, and have to do a lot of traveling for it. They play at Portland then at home in the canadian championship vs Toronto on Wednesday

Actually, I think they are home for both games, but that is still two more games than we play in the next week. Hopefully they will be a little tired when they get here.

You are correct, for some reason I thought the game was in Portland

    Probably wishful thinking. ;)

I am looking forward to what we can do offensively against Montreal. Since POR/MON is an early game tomorrow, I will likely watch it to see how they look defensively, with a sharp eye on defending set pieces.

An interesting coincidence I just noticed - if you look at my list of the least fondly remembered Wizards below, ALL of them, except I believe Will Hesmer, either played for or would have been eligible at some time to play for a foreign country's national team.

I see. By you reasoning (what do the LSP come latelys know about him) the Sporting Reject would be the appropriate salute.

You are welcome to be wrong, I just want you to be sure that I know you're wrong. :D

I am sure most people who are coming to games had at least the slightest casual interest in the team previously so they would at least be familiar with the Arnaud name.

To me, calling someone a reject is reserved for someone who didnt play well for us or caused some kind of issue (i.e. Marinelli or Will John). I wouldnt even put Sealy in that category because he did well when he was here. Hell, I wouldnt complain if we re-acquired him as an option off the bench.

Davy is the last player playing in MLS who has worn our jersey that should be given such a chant.

What was the Will John issue? He still returns to the community and works camps, so I harbor no grudge, but then again, he left about a bit before I started following the Wizards closely.

He left the team claiming that he was promised a starting position when he signed and then he never got any pt. Sure, Will, you're what - 5' 7 and a buck 40? That sounds totally plausible...

Watching the Montreal-Portland game...it was mentioned that Montreal has the most fouls and yellow cards. I can see maybe a red card and a goal or two from free kicks in the game against us. With us being rested and high octane pressure, it wouldn't surprise me to see one of their guys getting frustrated enough to lash out and get a red. So far, they don't seem very organized offensively. Oh and they also are near the top in offside calls. Good scouting info in this match...my mouth is watering with the possibilites for next weekend. Hope we are good and focused to get back on track.

Wouldn't be surprised if Nyassi is suspended for his boot in the face of Perkins. Perkins had to leave the game with a bloody face. Nyassi got a yellow, but it seems the type of play that the disciplinary committee has been jumping on. Mapp also left the game with an injury. Considering they have another game this week, who knows what kind of lineup we will see from them...

Wouldn't be surprised to see Nyassi suspended for the tackle with Perkins, second time this season he's done that to a keeper.

I can remember Arnaud getting a straight red in a similar circumstance V. Houston.

I'm shocked there wasn't a red given here.

did I miss the point of this thread?

these are people we are suppose to dislike?

When I think of a reject I picture someone who the team didn't want around anymore.

I seem to remember Yura's trade was forced because he wanted to move closer to home (LA at the time).
