Well why bother to compare Neymar to Robinho? Neymar is already better than Robinho at his peak ....

We want Neymar to simlulate the success of Ronaldinho, Rivaldo ... if not Romario or Ronaldo

WOW! How fvkking classless are these fans from Bolivia. They're f'n animals. And great job from the home team protecting the visiting players. They shouldn't be allowed to host another game.

Everytime Neymar went to play a throw-in or corner, the fans would start pelting him with stuff. They had 2 riot police with shields trying to cover him. In the 2nd half he got hit right in the face with something and went down. I couldn't pick-up what he got hit with though.

Neymar is the same as Robinho: A hyped-up prodigy. Again as I've said a some posts back, it doesn't matter how much talent he's got. How many stepovers and cheeky little moves to fool a defender. Robinho, Pato, Anderson...the list goes on and on and on of highly-touted youngsters that have gone on to not fulfill the hype.

Now granted, the aforementioned currently have great carriers playing with ManU and Milan that any footballer could only dream of achieving. But they're all nowhere near they were hyped up to be when they were in Brasil. The next big thing: The next Ronaldinho, Pele, etc. If any of you who are giving into this hype aren't youngsters, then I'm very disappointed in you. You should know better by now not to go gaga over the next big hype. If you are a youngster, then all I can tell you is that Neymar is all talent, and no goods until he goes overseas and plays with the best, and proves himself as the best among them. Until then he's just another prodigy.

Neymar is not hyped/overrated and he is not another robinho.
Tell me how many players today can score a goal like this? the only other player is Messi
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isb5odk0I_Q"]NEYMAR another amazing goal (Santos 3x1 Internacional) LIBERTADORES DA AMÉRICA 2012 [14 - 031] - YouTube[/ame]

But I do agree that Neymar needs to go Europe, he is too good for Brazil and we all know that he is the best player there.
Thats why i want Neymar to go Europe, because I want to see him play against the best defenders like Puyol, Pique, Ramos, Pepe, Vidic etc, and watch him play in Champions League.
I think it was good for him to stay in Brazil this year 2012, but if he still stays later than 2013 then he is just wasting time.
It will be good for him to play atleast 1 year in Europe before 2014 World Cup, so I reckon 2013 will be the best year for Neymar to go Europe.

I am starting to think Milan or even Juventus might be the best fit for him.

Some years down the road, when the "next big thing" in Brasil comes along. They'll also say "He's not another Neymar, this time it's real." Robinho, Pato, Anderson etc were all players that had this big hype and failed to be the world player of the year-type they were advertised to be. But like I said before, they still have great careers playing for the best teams in the world. I hope Neymar becomes a sensation when he gets to Europe. But until then, he just another hugely hyped prodigy.

On potentially world players of the year, I prefer Lucas from Sao Paulo.

Spain La Liga and Italy Serie A is best for Neymar
I want Neymar to join Barcelona if not then Real Madrid, but I think he will also do good at Inter.

Neymar is not overhyped. I was also skeptical before. But I saw him many times this year, and he is truly fantastic. Much much more so than what Robinho, Pato etc. ever were. It's good that he stayed in Brazil this year. He has progressed significantly. As long as he progresses, there is no harm in staying in Brazil.

Depends on the definition of "overhyped" IMO.

Some people talk about him as if he has already done things to earn him a position amongst the modern day greats like Ronaldo, Zidane, Messi, Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo etc. Some people talk about as if he is guaranteed to reach that level inevitably.

He is not there yet and he is not guaranteed to make it to that level.

That said: he is very good already and we have all the reasons to believe he will only get better. But needs to go to Europe - can't really judge a player when he hasn't competed regularly against the top competition (which he can't do in Brazil).

The Neymar to europe thing starts again this has pretty much been going on forever lets say every three weeks theres a new thread about it, Hes staying in Santos until the world cup and I know the people in this forum who ACTUALLY WATCH the brasilerao and Paulista know hes developing just fine. If his development was stalling out, i'd agree with you guys but the point is he continues to keep improving. Also when reading the forums here most people just judge him on his selecao play, i mean its fair but how can you draw a conclusion on the 5 or 6 games you seen him play? If you guys want some comedy head over to the bolivian teams in the copa libertadores thread what there saying about Neymar is a joke.

Heres an example whats impressed me most about his play is how far deep hes dropping back this year.

This. Sums it up nicely. I was one of those who thought he needed to leave, but he continues to impress the hell out of me everytime I see him play.

^ Maybe so. But eventually it comes to the question of whether he wants to keep impressing in Brazil or trying to impress against the top opposition. As a matter of fact, the more impressively he plays in Brazil, the more it suggests he should move. The better you are, the tougher challenges you should aim to beat. And it this point it seems to me at Neymar's level is so high that he won't find real challenges outside the top level (which happens to be played in Europe).

Anybody who remotely thinks Neymar is "not the real thing" or is a "hyped up prodigy" or what-ever, is either a dumb gringo who knows nothing about futebol, has his head way up his ass, or the jealousy burns that his country cannot produce one God Damn single solitary international player.

Yes I saw what Messi did against RM and against Chelsea, and seems as his days are declining.

As to those Bolivian mother f*ckers, all I hope is torcida Jovem treat the Bolivian players at the Vila Belmiro the same way Neymar was treated in Bolivia. We can start by meeting their bus at the airport.
And this time, instead of the orange and the the gandula putting the orange in his pocket, let us try the 5 inch 10 pound brick.

Bullshit. The level of play and challenge in England, Italy or Spain (with the exception of quarters and beyond in Champions League) is no greater than the level of play in the Brasileirao Serie A, or Libetadores.
EPL has 3-4 great clubs, Italy about 2-3 and Spain about 2-3. Every other team below these great clubs are substantially inferior to the Brasileirao serie A which includes about 6-8 great clubs.

Out of curiosity, what do you guys think Neymar will have to have achieved when he someday retires to not let the expectations of today down? Like, WPOTYx4, WCx1/2, 20+ goals for club for 10 seasons? Something else?

I agree, sort of. But that makes my point: I don't say that the average club in Europe is stronger than the average club in Brazil, but that the very top clubs in Europe are stronger than the very top clubs in Brazil. And it's those clubs that Neymar needs to meet regularly IMO.

Also: I think you're underestimating the mediocre Euro clubs if you state that "every other team below these great clubs are substantially inferior to the Brasileirao serie A". BundesLiga has quality, so do the clubs from the leagues you mentioned in the spots 4-6 or something and so on.

I think his abilities guarantee that he will reach that level if he stays healthy, at least Ronaldinho's level if not that of Ronaldo.

Mid table euro sides wouldn't come in the top 4 of the Brasilerao. Since you bring up the Bundesliga I think Dortmund would have a hard time winning a Brasilerao and they won 2 german titles in a row. The gaps closing between europe and Brazil hopefully South America is able to emulate Brazil in keeping players at home and bringing players back.

Heres another point that has to be made. When you play for Real Madrid, barca, Man U ect your surrounded by great players. A lot of the league games these big clubs play are against far inferior opposition. In most cases if your surrounded by great players your games going to go up mostly because its a team sport. So to say Neymar faces less challenge week to week then a player in Europe really doesn't make since to me since he has to do way more. Plus you completely discounted the Libertadores as a competition I think its harder to win a libertadores then a champions lg. Champions leagues the only real alluring thing in Europe to get Neymar to leave, I doubt hes dreaming of beating Racing Santander 5-1 with Real Madrid in La liga.
