Depends - most likely unless they are in talks with Willets Point - it all depends on where the exact location is.
And Buenos Aires won't ever be the greatest city in the world until it has 4 hockey/ basketball specific, 2 baseball specific, 1 football specific, 1 tennis specific, and 1 soccer specific stadia*. *(Not including innumerable minor league/college stadia) PS. Building stadia practically next door to each other is, quite literally, a colossal waste of resources and I would imagine that Americans are smarter and better than that (Philadelphia excluded, as always, but at least baseball stadia get used more than once a week.)
There are a number of cities in the US that have stadiums right next to each other. They're just almost never used for the same sport.
Yes, I guess it is dumb to have the largest, richest & most booked entertainment venue in the world right next to each other. Also they added this with in walking distance from all the STADIA, yes quite dumb indeed. http://xfinitylive.com
I think that if (hopefully when) the actual stadium hearing occurs, this is where we need to get our group together and show our support. Attend meetings/hearings. All fans that want this -together. BB or not.
Hey, it worked for Us Son's of Ben. Don't forget to write your proper politician as that goes a long way and get involved with the community groups. They have men's soccer league at the pier now, I would think that they should know some of the locals that are important.
We know them well. Thanks for the heads up, we always give you guys props for the great work you did.
Yep - we have been working the politicians but the issue is - we dont know the proper borough to really work on lol You guys set the stage - that is for sure. ********in guy had Silver in his back pocket.
Which is why Pier 40 won't happen. If Dolan can kill a stadium of 80K because it's assumed competition then just imagine another 20K venue on the island. That's an even more direct threat to his empire.
No, not really. The WSS was a direct threat to the Dolans' concert income. An 80,000 seat stadium, just two blocks away, would have drawn high-profile concerts away from MSG. A 20,000-seat venue a couple miles south is in no way the same threat to their concert business.
I don't think that's the case. 20,000 seat venues are not in competition with 80,000 seat venues. they get different acts and performances. The fact that a pier 40 stadium would be of similar size is much more of a threat to MSG concert business.
A sss at Pier 40, miles south and away from Midtown and all the transportation options, is still very different than a high-profile, nationally-known NFL stadium within eyesight of MSG. That's a much bigger threat than the Cosmos' home will ever be. An NFL stadium on the West Side could have become the premier venue for the biggest high-profile acts, preferable to and more prestigious even than the Garden. Our sss will never be either of those. U2 is never going to chose the smaller sss. Neither is Madonna, or (fill in big act here).
This just isn't right. MSG is not the biggest venue for the high profile act, Giants/Met life stadium is. A 22,000 seat stadium is for a certain kind of show, and an 80,000 seat stadium is for another kind of show. Again, MSG is in competition with other 22,000 seat indoor stadia, not 80,000 seat outdoor stadia. If the Rolling Stones want to do an indoor arena, they'll choose MSG. If the want to do an 80,000 big outdoor stadium show, they'' do MetLife. In the late 90s, some company, I forget who, was awarded the right to build a 19,000 seat stadium at Randall's Island. MSG and Clear Channel walked into every office of every political player in NYC and said on no uncertain terms that they would see to it that no act, no nothing, played at such a stadium. The award was rescinded, and instead we have a 3000 seat track and field stadium. Pier 40 is less than 2 miles from MSG, and is in a prime, extremely wealthy neighborhood. A similar sized stadium, esp. if it had indoor capability, would be a HUGE threat to MSG. Much more so that an 80,000 seater.
Side note...the Stones actually did this. They toured a few years ago and played 3 shows in each city - a club, an arena, and a stadium. For NYC it was Roseland (I believe), MSG and Giants Stadium. Fun fact of the night...please continue.
MSG cable probably would be the local tv outlet for NY2. MSG does need more summer products. They only have WNBA Liberty and RB.
