To prevent Black Tide from seeing his username attached to another 5,000+ post thread started in jest, perhaps this one could be closed and another started.

I suggest "Pro/Rel 3: Dawn of the Dead."

Which, of course, would lead to Pro/Rel IV: And right back where they started!

    Pro/Rel V: this time, there'll be playoffs!
Pro/Rel VI: Administration and the Tales from Conference South
Pro/Rel VII: The Curious and Unsustainable Case of AFC Wimbledon
    Pro/Rel VIII: Yup, Leeds again
Pro/Rel IX: Fighting the Man; or How the A-League learned to stop warring and learned to love not to playing in the AFC Champions League

(I could go on almost endlessly, though I don't know the Roman Number for 10,000)

    Good one!

Well they can always move back to the OFC, I do not think they care about pro/rel over there.

It would either be a M with a bar on top or ((I)).

I now, and have always, and will always reject the "bar" convention. It feels far, far too much like a late medieval reimagining then something that was likely ever used (though that's just a hunch).

It's possible (hell, likely) that no numerals above 1,000 existed because, well, those numbers didn't exist (I heard Woody Paige once claim that "K" was 5,000; I doubt the source and he was making a stupid V-I-C-K joke anyway). Just like passed Dodectillion, modern man has no word for numbers, simply because numbers beyond 999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 don't exist.

For instance, the Big Bang happened about 43 Quadrillion seconds ago (future people, please adjust this time).

It's exceedingly likely (hell, I'm going to say it 100% is true) that the Billion, Trillion, Quadrillion...Dodectillion is simply an attempt to apply greek prefixes to the "illions", and as such, we have Dodectillion.

Probably true on all accounts. I prefer the (()) notation t othe bar notation myself, but neither one is probably accurate.

In a world where nothing is sacred...not even the "essence of football", itself. One man, had a dream. 10,000 professional soccer clubs in the US. An NFL team in Providence, 18 miles from Gillette Stadium. The University of Kentucky locking horns with the LA Clippers for the last promotional spot to the US Premier BasketLeague. Promotion! Relegation! {dramatic music}.

This summer...Matthew Broderick is DCU1996. Co-staring Kevin Smith as WhiteStarWarrior {cut to a dark basement, Smith typing at a keyboard...he nonchalantly takes a sip of Mountain Dew} and featuring Sylvester Stallone as Tinfoil Teddy {cut to Stallone being whisked out USSF headquarters, an armed guard on each arm; he mumbles} They killed my family!

{words flash across screen}Action! Suspense! Administration!

{title card is shown; subtitle traces across screen as it's read} DCU1996: When push comes to shove...bring up the A-League!

    Congratulations K-League!

They started pro/rel this season. Actually only rel this year.
2 clubs out of 16 will be relegated in 2012 season.
Starting 2013, 14 teams in D1 and actual pro/rel begins.
    Great work AFC and K-League!

Another victory for the tradition of pro/rel in the world of football.

    Meanwhile, over in England:

Relegation is the easy part. Surviving the financial peril associated with modern relegation is the issue.

Good for them, I guess. I'm a big supporter of different leagues around the world structuring themselves in whatever ways they consider best.

Not sure why what they do in Korea is relevant to the US, though.
