Because they can still do that in the NSW Premier League. Now enough with your narrow-minded generalisations about race, and more posting on the actual concept of this new side. ;)

    Some laughable stuff from Cockers:

Put the paint can down, Michael. FFA aren't going to pay marquee wages (much less $2-3m transfer fees).

I hear Jacob Timpano's available too. What a goldmine!

Now here's something that actually makes sense. :) From memory he only signed a one year deal with Al Jazeera.

yes but exposure on tv wud be an opportunity they dont have now, narrow minded generalisations about race? lol hardly and look at what happens sometimes at the Australian open between the serbs and croats
I have nothing against either people and have had n the past friends from both countrys, but even you must admit there is still alot of ethnic rivarly between them and you cant just push that under the politically correct carpet as an overall generalisation, when it wasnr intended thus in the first place

Out of that list, the only ones that don't sound incredibly tacky, IMO, are Rangers, Wanderers, Athletic and Sporting WS.

The rest of the names are a joke. I mean, WS Wildcats? Maybe if the A-League was a high school grid iron competition. Names like Strikers, Power, Wolves and Cosmos should be struck off immediately as they are all current/former NSL/State League team names. Crew, Stars, Beats, Pulse, All Stars are all on the same level (well below par) with the Football Kingz. People's Football Club has a bit of a communist flavour to it. Real and Inter- way too try hard.

They need a name that is unique to the current Australia/NZ sporting landscape. Not the same old American style franchise names.

    This.

They're the ones I voted for. Even though I'm not going to change from FC, I still don't want a dumb name in the A-League.

I know its very similar to the old Croatian club, but how about Western Sydney United?

Yeah, United would be good as well. I tried to do the survey, but got bored about a quarter of the way through. Although I was going to vote for some of the more ridiculous ones. If we're going to have a cross-town rival, they may as well have a ridiculous name :D Imagine all the fun we could have if our rival was the WS Beats..

I actually like PFC, sounds military themed to me.

Wildcats?, Real?, Warriors? Its times like this I'm thankful when the A-League was being founded some wonderful person said "how about we just call it 'Sydney FC'?".

Did that Survey just to pick the few decent names out. Hope common sense prevails and the team doesn't get some tacky name. Personally I'd go with Wanderers, but hey, i'm supposed to start hating the existence of this club at some point aren't I?

It's weird, as an American, seeing Crew and Union on there, and I wouldn't like either. Unless either Philly or Columbus were to pull an Ajax and have a second team in Western Sydney (as Ajax has a team in Cape Town). Somehow, I don't see that happening, although it would be fascinating.

As an american who has never been to Australia, I don't know what these team names mean to Western Sydney (i.e. Seattle Sounders, because Seattle's on a sound). It would be neat to have a meaningful name. But regardless, I like Warriors, Rangers, Wolves, and Sporting.

As I live in the land of ZIP codes, I cannot vote.

I would call it Western Sydney Wanderers FC. It just rolls off the tongue well.

Also as an American (who does watch A-League by staying up at 12am and follow it) I can tell you that names like Wildcats etc are just 20th generation franchise names. This is a football (soccer) club, not some college team.

And don't forget about the St. Louis Cardinals. Which from 1960 to 1987 referred to an American football and a baseball team.
