Right - and maybe it is true that fans really dont matter (which i happen to agree with, but we could be helpful in lobbying for a stadium) however, perhaps your right, but who is the better? The guys who go out and passionately give their all to try and do something, or the one who site back and then criticizes after the fact?

See -- we started this not to be this involved - all we ever wanted and all we still want is a section behind the goal and a group to go on road trips with and watch games with. It was all started to be fun, we just found ourselves in other situations that made it a bit more.

Can we unify the support, not divide it? I think we all want Cosmos or NYFC. "Find our fisherman."

the support is split because this has been ongoing for so faking long - we have nothing else to do but start going at each other.

We were close TWICE on getting this done but Madoff happened and the PK fall out.

I also think there will be more negative fan reaction surrounding the academy in the coming weeks. I think the new owners want MLS but they might not want to be involved with BWG. Hearing they want out of all the PK business ventures and that news will cause more arguments and fights. (although i hear there will still be financial payments made of some level)

The only time this will be unified is when we are all under one roof, wheter at Pier 40 or queens or wherever supporting the team and that seems still a ways off.

Thank you for responding to CosmosV in a positive way. This is all exactly right. Even if we didn't matter at all, are we supposed to just say "ah, ******** it", or keep doing what we can. I approach life, not just soccer but everything else for that matter, as if what I do can make a difference.

And at any rate, which is more fun, the "ahh ******** it" way, or really getting involved? We've gotten to meet with the Mayor's economic development team and the Sports Commissioner at City Hall to discuss potential sites for a soccer stadium. We've met with the Wilpons at the executive offices at Shea Stadium to discuss architectural plans for the stadium on the parking lot. We've met with elected office holders to talk about the game we love. We had a lot of drinks on Paul Kemsley, and got to spend time with the old Cosmos paraphernalia, including the Cosmos championship trophies. We put in a bid to build a soccer stadium at Willets Point that at least made it out of the first round. We've gotten good press coverage for our supporters club and our game. We've had free drinks at Gracie Mansion.

I do think that we have helped lay groundwork for this project by helping put together the politicians and potential investors, and helped convince City Hall that soccer is good for the city. But at the end of the day, if we never get the team, we've had a lot of fun trying. It's been a lot of work, but I have enjoyed every moment of it.

I think it's hard for some people to understand that there is a world outside of their room and computer. And that with some effort, you can actually make an impact. Sadly, our CosmosV isn't one of those people. But I too invite him to join us in our efforts so he can see for himself and have some fun.

The Wilpons and the Cosmos group headed by Kemsley did indeed let us in on what was going on, down to minute details. Sorry that you find that so unbelievable, but it's true.

It has been a lot of fun - frustrating and even we have gone at it at times but ******** has it been fun and some laughs.

Im extremely proud of what we have done and what we have accomplished. Fack - people have seen what we have done and like us or not - should understand our passion and our cause.

However, for guys who are on Bigsoccer (which is not the world) they see us talking and 5 years later still no team, so its easy for them to hate and criticize. I can see both sides of the fence and nothing we can do about it.

However, wouldn't trade what we have done for the world. Its been a great experience and we will continue to do it until we are in a stadium.

I dont think we were close twice.....

We were close ONLY ONCE and that was with wilpon....The british Trash LIED TO YOU AND EVERY ONE ELSE and made you believe in his phoney circus...I WAS NEVER FOOLED and told you how that was going to end up........

WILPON was always open wilpon wants this for many reasons one of them is giving new life to the surrounding neighborhood at citi.....wilpon was the real deal and i wont even dignify the british slob with any thing more than his juiced up show and tell that was always on weak legs add to that the parasite pele and the french actor for hire and that disgraceful mess had a proper car wreck.....

Its best we just follow what the league says about pier 40 and any other site... pier 40 is quite the project if it does not happen it at least shows MLS is telling the truth in taking the NY expansion project serious and doing it all with their OWN hands.....

to bad garber is not open to seeing the BB like fred wilpon was with you guys....a little information can go a long way to getting people behind this again..... right now this would be so different had wilpon held his press confrence he was suppose to have that november 2 months b4 the madoff mess became public....

this is along long road right now.....the time frame is just a total unkown years at the very least....... its sad... but its out of our hands. not to mention the damage done by wilpons mess and pk lies really right now who even cares out side the core BB..

I just hope and i am glad we will never see a walking disgrace and human garbage paul kemsley ever again.........or pele for that matter notice that son of a bitch has not worn any cosmos gear or said any thing since his cosmos check stop coming thru the mail......

its back to square one...... but then again ever since wilpon this has always been at square 1... PK does not count he was nobody and no better than occupy wall street junkies hanging out in a corner ranting about nothing......

The real let down and reality is HOW LONG UNTIL THIS BECOMES A REALITY.... how many more years, right now sure looks like 10 years down the road........

We have admitted it - and ill do so again. We followed PK and he didnt deliver. Those who sat back, googled his name and took the safe road saying he would fail were right.

Id right die trying than sit idle.

You know what though - the best part is, we all still have our jobs, we all still have our families - this is all just a hobby/passion that we do on the side. So those who criticize us because they sat idle...well honestly...we laugh because while we share the same passion, we are at least doing something about it. Thats not a jab at you personally either, there are a lot of people who sit back on big soccer, criticize but never really give it a shot to try and help.

Flaco - your dead wrong my friend. We were close with Wilpon and we were close with PK. I know you don't want to believe it but many people told us that Greenpoint was closer than people realize. I didnt have to shake anyone down either :D

Granted, PK was the main issue as Garber didnt want to work with him, but they had a lot of land picked out for 25 Million in Greenpoint from what I understand. Right on the waterfront.

However, Garber wanted to work with Sela directly.

Jack Bell even said it on his twitter that it was almost a done deal Look at his twitter on November 18th if you don't believe me. (jack bell has been on top of the cosmos and clearly gets the calls before many many others)

    @JackBell
G Train close by - maybe L train depends on where in Gpoint. You can do boats from the city and the view would be best in MLS.

    Jack Bell replied
It was almost a done deal, until it wasn't

PK was a clown - he did things wrong - but him and fraga were close.

However, you are right, being that all fell through, it set the project back a wee bit.... and by wee i mean years.

Of course it is dude - we are not a social misfit club. :D

WE get defensive on these boards because of the history on these boards - we are a fun group on the outside.

Yea - not sure about the CL final - would make for a nice event - where are you located?

Though I don't agree with Flaco's sentiment Nick, I do think you are overstating how close it was.

Well i dont think it was close to shovels in the grounds being imminent but closer than anything we have had and that might include closer than we came with Wilpon.

I'm out on the island...western Suffolk, to be exact. Planning on coming to the city for the match, maybe meeting a group of friends. Did I read on here that the BB enjoyed hanging at Dempsey's? That's where I was planning but open to anywhere.

Except for Kennisaw Mountain Landis, and that was in reaction to the Black Sox scandal, MLB always promotes from within.

Now the NHL or NFL may be another story

Unless it's a platform over Hunterspoint Av station, LIC is a bust with regards to LI people. The entire island has some sort of mental block about driving past the Cross Island with few exceptions (Airports and Citifield) unless they travel by train. It's odd and inexplicable but undeniable.

Dude - your 100 percent right - LIC would be great for Queens folk but the LI market might be out.

This post sums how far people of LI are willing to go. Well said.

As far as the platform over the Sunnyside Yards - it would be so fakin expensive but it is the only option for LIC.

Anything on the waterfront would be too far from PT.

    Brooklyn Option:

In a couple of reports ive read that the Cosmos group was close to a deal in Greenpoint Brooklyn for a parcel of land big enough to hold the proposed soccer stadium. Even though the site was never specifically pointed out, I have looked at the possible sites and the most likely option was a large private parcel in the yet to be built Bushwick inlet park. As a matter of fact the city turns out doesn't have the funds to purchase this parcel. The best part about the area is that it is aproximately 3 blocks from the Bedford Avenue station on the L line. Close to a huge Polish community in Greenpoint and Rigewood Queens. Its also centrally located between the 3 boroughs of Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn.

If pier 40 doesnt work out this would be a nice option in my opinion.
The views would be epic. The scene surrunding the stadium: Midtown to the west, East river bridges to the south west along with the financial skyscrapers, Downtown brooklyn to the south. Ofcourse this is just pure conjecture on my part.

Below is the plan of the park as it was proposed. You can google bushwick inlet park on google maps to see what the current parcels look like today.

I believe the site was the Tri State Lumber yard - its on west street and like Noble - just a few short blocks away from the area you pointed out.

That map is of northside Williamsburg, not Greenpoint. It's a bitch to get to by car and the Bedford L stop is not particularly designed for high volume traffic. It has a hard enough time hauling hipsters back and forth as it is. And the only LIRR connection is at East New York/Broadway Junction. Suburban families will love that!

    Fail on all levels.

IM dying to hear the WHOLE story on what went on between Garber and PK - ive heard some of it - and I know that at one point - Donnie was like - yo PK - enough of you - i want to talk to Sela.

Terry Byrne told a couple of people (including reporters) at the Pele Birthday thing that they were going to work with the Wilpons - and then a year or two later they were working with Greenpoint.

Me thinks Freddie might have said ( I need more time) and PK might have said (Nah mate, I need to do this ASAP) and made rash decisions.

    All speculation

Fact is - we dont got a team - we dont got a stadium :D
