2011/12 Takashi Usami @ Bayern Munich (GER/CL) Thread [R]

For me, this is the must-watch game of the weekend Not only would it be the first start for him at Bayern, it may also be the last.

I hope kicker is basing their prediction on solid info though. It's pretty extreme to say Heynckes rests seven regulars, and fields a player who is in his last couple of months of his loan.

 

i hope it true. it a great time as ever. after their draw to Mainz saw them 8 pts behind BVB. many fans were pissed, but victory over RM overcompensate for that. next matchday could decide the title winners. if Dortmund win, they're uncatchable. BM might as well play usami n others who didnt play. even if they lose, they're still 2nd. with the much anticipated match w/ RM, they rather risk defeat against WB than injuries.

 

I hope Usami makes them regret the way they treated him. And then he goes to Nurnburg (or any other German team for that matter) and comes back to the Allianz and scores.


On the flip side. I hope Usami doesn't take this as proof that he's got a future at Bayern or something.

 

And why not ? I mean we're all very impatient, me included, but imagine, he scores tomorrow and sees his role in the team increasing. Not a starter from the get go but maybe the first or second sub in this strong team next year. Then at 21 or 22, be full starter.

I wonder what the Bayern Fans thinks of Usami? anything on the BM forums or anything?

 

I think some of them think he was a marketing buy. Others think Bayern are being morons not to purchase him for 3 million or whatever it was.

@saku: In the time from 19-22; Bayern may (and if it is needed; will) buy like 2-3 wingers in this time to continue putting Usami on the back foot in terms of pecking order. At another club he can play right now. And think by the time he's 22 he may have developed to the point where he's getting offers from clubs at the higher end of the Bundesliga anyway (and if not; still be playing bundesliga football).

 

Bayern's youth system is going to change a lot: Bayern II's coach Joncker quits and will be succeeded by Mehmet Scholl. The youth coordinator (who is Hummels' father btw) is leaving, also the U17 coach is moved to another position, replaced by former Freiburg coach Marcus Sorg (who has won several national titles with Freiburg's youth side).

I *think* that besides from their second team becoming a mediocre side in the fourth tier, losing four straight games against a youthful BVB consisting of players who have not gained international star-status before, has left some impression on Bayern's board. So Bayern *might* become a bit different in the future.

But all that doesn't matter for Usami as long as the coach of the first team stays Heynckes, and that Basel player is joining next season. I just hope that Usami gets a single moment to shine in the league, and makes Bayern-bosses think a bit if Heynckes and some of his devotees weren't wrong.

 

Ah yes, forgot about that Shaqiri will be there next year. I already have the feeling that Shaqiri (Who has equal level of talent with Usami) will get a lot more opportunities than Usami in his first season.

 

Of course he will, he's Swiss, not Japanese.

 

He will because they pay 12 mio., and by Heynckes' logic, because he is a "Europe-proven" player who speaks German and has some muscles.

With 5 to 6 Japanese out of 9 in Germany starting most of the season, being Japanese is not a reason not to field Usami, at least in the Bundesliga you might think.

 

You said it yourself Dax_: He does not play Usami, but he doesn't play Contento, Pranjic, Petersen as well.

To assume a Chong Tese-situation here, because a loan player, who will reportedly not be joining on a permanent deal, is not chosen over others is a bit too much, for me at least.

 

That's the only possible and reliable future Usami needs.
And don't forget that Brasil 2014 incoming, actually he has only 2 seasons (the last one in the same WC season) to be a regular starter in Europe and have a chance for the NT in one of the most favorable WC of the Japan history after 2002 (cuz of the huge number of japanese living in Brazil).

 

It makes me wonder why Bayern Munich wanted to bring Usami to their club with little to no intention of playing him. Also Usami for believing why he thought he could start on such a star studded team. He had a good thing going at Gamba. Now his carrer has been derailed for an entire season, unless you count BayernII as quality soccer.

I too hope Usami can transfer to a new team in the Bundasliga and show Bayern what they were missing.

 

I wasn't optimistic from the start but Usami is an ambitious guy and credit to him for trying to become a better player at one of the biggest clubs in wolrd football.

It's a shame we won't see him at the Olympics though.
