you have to pay to have the game televised. couple that with the fact the game is going to be a neutral site game (at nd) and I don't see that happening.
Ya its to bad thats the policy because they miss out on showcasing some very good games (and end up showing some very poor games).
bushue scored in overtime to beat notre dame 5-4 last night. i wish i could have found someone to ride up to ft. wayne with me. that would have been a fun game to see with all those goals. much better than driving up to south bend for 120 minutes and 0 goals.
has anyone seen the roster of who the mexicans are bringing up for sunday? i remember seeing that a lot of their U17 world cup players were coming, but i don't remember where that was.
If you’re in South Bend, IN you can enjoy some international soccer later tonight when the Mexican Under-20 national team faces the University of Notre Dame in an exhibition at Alumni Stadium. http://www.ndsmcobserver.com/sports...y-against-mexico-haiti-1.2862654#.T5psKI6SVN0
sorry man, just trying to get the word out on what looks like a really great event! Hope that you can make it there.
Went to the game today. Beautiful weather for soccer, great crowd........for the Mexican team, that is. They showed up in force and in voice. The U-20 Mexican team beat the Hoosiers 2-1 on 2 second half goals. IU played good defense in the first half, but Bushue went down with an injury late in the first half, and the defense wasn't the same in the second half; the Mexican team LIVED in the IU third most of that half.( I hate to say it, but # 30 for us was awful!). IU scored on a goal by Joe Tolan with an assist from Zavaleta.....the Mexican goalie was EXTREMELY OVERAGGRESSIVE in getting to balls in and out of the box......IU had 2 or 3 very good chances in the second half because their goalie was way out of position, but we could not convert. I expected the Mexican team to dominate possession, but we played kickball to them in the second half trying to get the ball out of our third.....does not bode well for next fall unless this changes.....we are definitely a different team without Bushue ( and Kotlov, for that matter...).
i was there also. i was disappointed with our play, but we could have scored a couple more goals if we had taken our chances better. it was a fun game to watch, and the weather was great. the mexican fans sure make for an interesting environment.
Spoke with the Mexican coach after the game, asked him what kind of halftime talk he had....he responds "It was just getting different players in"....he knows the quality that Gomez, Gonzales, Madrigal, and Luna brought to the game. Also said he was very impressed with Zavaleta, thought he had a very bright future......Mind you Almaguer (mexico coach) was a striker for Mexico in the 90's...got 17 caps. Yeagley after the game didn't seem to concerned about the result, he said he hoped it taught the boys some more of the nuances of the game going up against professional players.
Time for a 2012 thread for you guys? I guess the Aztecs are coming up to see you guys and ND, but at Indy. Is that at Butler or IUPUI? I'm going to Indy this summer. Bummed it's not later on. Would be fun to see this.
All those games are in Bloomington. It's the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic (IU, ND, SDSU, Clemson). I am guessing the SDSU SID doesn't know that IU is in Bloomington : )
Lol. Wouldn't be surprising. I thought both Bloomington and Muncie were in Marion Co. until recently. Thanks.
