WHAT!? where did you score the tix!? I'm in need of a few... Thanks! That sounds like a good trip! And yes, agree with visiting Guate outside of the city. Tikal, Antigua or Pana are good stops. I lived there for nearly 12 years. My plan is to arrive in Guate and backpack to Panama.
ahhh!! you're freaking me out dude!!! United for me... Arriving June 10th. Pretty familiar with the area and have ton of friends down there. (They know I'll be cheering for my beloved NATS! and they are cool) so let me know what's up, maybe we can start a small group or something. I know more people will check in closer to game day.
Can't say no to the gallo....what I really need to find us a gallo t-shirt now that you sold me on the trip...
Just wondering if anybody's seen any info on tickets for this game? Kindda early but I look everyday just in case... I'll post as soon as I find something out!
I hope this is true, because it would certainly make my life easier than to find a way out to Coatepeque or whereever it was that the earlier poster thought it might be held.
Hey, I'm looking to travel to the match in Guatemala City. I contacted the USSOCCERSC people regarding tickets. This is what I was told. "The Guatemalan Federation controls all ticketing for that match. We will not be selling any tickets for it. If, like was done for the recent game in Canada, we can provide a link to buy tickets we certainly will. However, that is unlikely for this match". Does anyone know where I can secure tickets?
I went to the game four years ago in Guatemala (1-0 USA!) and the U.S. federation did indeed sell tickets for the game. In fact, you had to pick them up from USSF staff at the team hotel.
I also went to the match in 2008 and the one in 2005 (0-0). Both times I bought tickets from USSF and picked them up at the team hotel. I hope USSF will have tickets available again.
NICE!!! Roll call then... TimBoston (From Boston) thethinwhiteduke (I'm pretty sure I've met you before... C-bus 2005 and 2009) GOREVS3000 (I'm pretty sure I've met you before... C-bus 2005 and 2009) Real Corona +1 (From somewhere far north in NY correct?) Doogiemo +1 (From Chicago but flying out of Denver!) Anybody else on board? Please post game tix info if you find it
Is the Zona Viva a good place to stay? From what I see on google maps a few main drags run though there towards the stadium.
Zona Viva is a great area! right between the airport and the stadium. The area around Westin Camino Real and/or the Intercontinental (NATS hotel last cycle) is full of restaurants, nice bars and decent night life. It's pretty safe also because of the same reason. As in any place you're not familiar with, never wonder around by yourself. Antigua is a nice place to visit but I don't see the point of using a taxi everyday to go back to the hotel having Zona Viva in Guate City. Maybe 30 miles away but during a Guate rush hour, traffic WILL be a pain in the behind!
