someone in the transfer thread said blake wise is transferring to san diego state. anyone know why he's leaving? also, anyone care to comment on our incoming class? what about the kid from cinci?
Was wondering that, too. He picked up a knee injury in early October that ended his season but, previous to that, was a somewhat regular substitute. Speculating here, but with IU's midfield maybe Blake was looking for a situation where he was confident he'd get more time on the pitch? Wish him well-
I think you hit the nail on the head. If you look at his Twitter account, he left the team on very good terms.
@iumenssoccer: Brown University's T.J. Popolizio will join the Hoosier squad this fall: http://tinyurl.com/85yxk2u also, i just saw the ids' post about the incoming recruits and transfers from a few weeks back: http://www.idsnews.com/blogs/hoosierhype/?p=18540
Hoosiers open the spring with a 3-2 win over Saint Louis http://www.iuhoosiers.com/sports/m-soccer/recaps/032412aaa.html
I was there. Same old stuff. We dominated possession, had more shots, et cetera. They just didn't go in. the defense looked better than last week, but butler didn't have bradley's extremely effective forward either. Sparks got in up top and looked good. I also like the way the new Greek kid plays. Tolen played some in midfield and was effective. Vollmer must have done something. Second game he has watched from the stands. Brf
Per Twitter @Nkotlov, Fractured foot. Good thing I am in the best shape of my life for nothing. Hope he isn't out too long, we really need him! We could use Nikita against the Mexican team.
If something like this was going to happen, much rather it happen in April as opposed to August. Just gives more guys a chance to step up during the spring. Nikita will be back in time for summer workouts at the latest, and should be chomping at the bit come August.
The concern is can he stay healthy for a full season? IIRC, he spent a lot of time last year on the bench with a nagging (hamstring?) injury. Just seems to be one of those guys who always has some injury bothering him... and he really carried the team's offensive load at the end of last season.
i think he was having back trouble in the beginning of the year. he was in a back brace or something for one of the early games if i'm remembering right.
2-0 victory over lindsey wilson, the 2011 NAIA champions last night. goals from tolen and corrado. http://www.iuhoosiers.com/sports/m-soccer/recaps/041312aaa.html
IU plays Akron on 9/7, but it's not clear where. Probably at a neutral site for a small 4 team tourney. Edit: --It's at ND-- BRF
Probably not. Notre Dame usually broadcasts its own matches in the tournament, but not the other ones.
that might be a big enough game for fsc to pick it up as its game of the week, no? don't they usually do a friday night college game? surely there won't be a bigger game than that that weekend. not that it matters to me. i'll try to get up there probably.
