They said no though....such a punishment for something that didn't happen is ludicrous fine the club fine the players but doing all that banning a player for a year taking away points and no europe is a little over bored I mean they let Atalanta and Siena into the Serie A ! and only Atalanta got points deducted.
There is good chance Napoli will not risk point/s deduction as no one agreed to fix the game aka any team benefited. FIGC and CONI will apply points deduction to 2011/2012 season. I see do you know if a banned player gets his contract terminated ? or will they be still on our books for the year ?
I assume if a player contract is longer then 1 year, then the player is allowed back after 1 year ... .

This is starting to be to much right now im starting to think that they are just trying to run Napoli's name through the mud...
Yes you could be right... FIGC and CONI will apply points deduction to 2011/2012 season and FIGC have asked the Prosecutor offices in Bari, Cremona and Naples to send in the new referrals by end of April or Early May of 2012. So we shall know soon.......what was reported was true and what wasn't ... .
yeah thats dumb. I don't think I would report it if a team mate who I have known for years and am friends with asked to fix it. I would say no but I wouldn't report him I would just tell him he's a ********ing idiot for thinking about it..
i don't think i would either, but they should be reporting it, and it's good to see this kind of zero tolerance approach, otherwise this shit will never end
The results are here if you want to go through them. http://uk.soccerway.com/national/italy/serie-a/2010-2011/regular-season/matches/
as i thought that Inter Napoli match fix doesnt seem right to me because Inter already had 2nd place and Napoli wasn't going to lose out to Udinese... but stranger things have happened....
You wouldn't but they should? If I reported every buddy of mine who ever made an illegal proposition to me, I may as well have my own badge and Crown Victoria.
i haven't read the applicable law, but it may be one of those that imposes a duty to report. kind of like it's a crime to not report abuse if a school worker witnesses it or has a reason to suspect it. i see nothing wrong with banning these clowns if that's the law. by not speaking up, they're enabling it. the more i think about it, the worse it seems on the part of the guys who didn't report it. really, how do you not say something? your teammate asks you to help throw a game. even if you say no, your teammate is still throwing the game. how do you not say something to your coaches, principals, or the cops? you just keep playing and act like everything's ok knowing that your teammate is trying to lose the match?
Well it was Gianelli, right? Was he even playing? I really doubt it. Even if there was a law saying I had to snitch him out, I wouldn't. I'd be much more likely to just kick his ass, to be honest. If a teammate came up to any of you in the locker room and said something like "would you ever throw a match if someone paid you x amount of money?" What would your response be? Mine certainly would not include a phone call to the police.
kqql's post said the napoli/inter match has 9-11 players inplicated. that's more than the back up keeper. how would i handle it? i'd get my lawyer to make an anonymous report on my behalf or do whatever i can to make sure i keep from losing my livelihood. if knowingly failing to report is a crime, you have to do it.
That is alot of people i just dont see how this wasnt seen from the start if this really did happen. Also when Napoli and Genoa made a packed to tie their game so that they both would come back to Serie A why was there no big stink about that I mean in a way they did fix the match...
no i understand what you mean, i just mean like, in the context of the sport, especially one which has been fraught with betting scandals like this--which i think, beyond the betting itself, ruins it's legitimacy as well as makes people suspicious of results that might have had nothing to do with this kind of thing--it is necessary that they should be reporting these kinds of things, even if everyone, including myself, shares the natural inclination not to snitch on their colleagues. if we can agree that it's 'wrong' to throw games for money, being aware that a team mate might be throwing a game gives you some kind of obligation. i would also like to stress that there is a difference between illegal propositions IRL and illegal propositions within sport, following the rules of a sport seems necessary, otherwise it's no longer sport.
i think this hits it on the head. there are a lot of things in life that people cheat at, and where it's almost expected: relationships, speed limits, taxes, etc. but when you're playing a game, you follow the rules. although here we're talking about big business, so really what makes football as an enterprise any different than the banks and investment firms? other than the fact that i'm not getting up early on saturday wearing my bank of america jersey to watch them play citibank.
