That CL final. It's not like Barca - RM have a fierce rivalry going for at least 60 years, playing eachother twice a year or more.
When they put on the camiseta de la seleccion, they have a different mindset. They don't carry these on-field rifts over into international play. The only problem could be fatigue. I don't see this hindering Spain in the Euro Cup. I see Germany's team chemistry as the main problem for Spain.
obviously you guys have a short memory span. before the last euro and world cup spain had never won a world cup and the last euro cup win was in the 40's or something. this is why they have always been bad internationally, because their players always fight in the season and have a huge problem...and its no different this time around . they will go back to losing like they always have, its just the way spain is. they are racist to each other and the madrid and barcelona players always fight. Spain NT is still among the top teams to win this coming Euro... However with the decline in striking force (villa and Torres) they will have much less chance than say ... Germany, Netherland . Italy and France could also put up stronger in this summer with their new young talents
As Germany fan, I only see Germany doing better than Spain if they are in different brackets and Spain gets somehow knocked out. I don't think Germany can beat Spain in a head-to-head match. In the end, Spain is the favorite for me. I also expect Italy to bounce back from the WC fiasko.
It's all irrelevant. Bayern Munich will get past Real Madrid. They have the final of this glorious tournament waiting for them on their home turf. Madrid will choke under pressure as always, unless Mourinho pulls something out of his ass. Who's got the home game first? Perhaps real madrid can cause a massive rout of Bayern at the bernabeu.
This generation of the Spanish NT "will have a chance" in every tournament they enter because they will control possession in every game they play. They "might not win", because they fail to convert enough chances in a given game or because they get hit on the break, but that is very different from "not having a chance." The club rivalry issue is moot, IMO. It would only matter if they were already playing badly and started blaming each other; it would not by itself cause them to play badly. Xavi doesn't have to like Sergio Ramos in order to know when to play a ball out to him on the wing.

As long as they're able to hold possession as they always do and as long as Llorente, Soldado or even Cesc & Silva can get themselves in goal scoring situations, i think they have nothing to worry about. And if Barca & Madrid play the CL final, best believe that you won't be seeing any ridiculous tackles or situations from the spanish players in both teams. I believe Del Bosque would have released the names of players who'll take part in the euros by then and he'll definitly be giving some of the players a call before the game to make sure their mind is in the right place imo. Anyway i noticed that whenever the Spanish NT is playing, you can't even tell that those players fight each other during classicos.
These guys are professionals. They'll give it their all in the CL final but go out to dinner with club rivals once the NT are together and training for the Euros. If this was such a big issue it would have surfaced already. It's not like Barca and Real Madrid were friends back in 2010. If anything its the competing in multiple competitions right to the end of the club season that will take a bigger toll. But its also possible that both La Liga and Champions League will be over for both teams a week from now, so we'll see...

I'm sure Del Bosque was the happiest person in Spain after the CL semifinals! On the other hand, once Barcelona went out of Europe Del Bosque requested to the RFEF (Spanish Federation) that the Copa del Rey final be moved from the scheduled Friday 25 May to Wednesday the 16th so that he would have players from both finalists, Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona, available for the friendly against Serbia on Saturday the 26th. The RFEF refused the request. Del Bosque must submit his final 23-man squad to UEFA by Tuesday May 29th.
I don't get the premise of the thread. Does the OP think that Spanish players from Barca and Real are more likely to play well together if they don't have to face each other in the CL final? It seems like nonsense, but if it were to be true true then I suppose the failure of both Barca and Real should also bode well for Argentina in the next qualifiers.
The final will be Germany v Spain, and anything could happen but I'd expect Germany to edge it with David Villa injured

I agree that these two are deserved favourites, but I think a "boring" 4-4-2 side (like Greece 2004) could surprise/annoy the world of football again. 4-2-3-1 is starting to get found out as teams sit deeper and deeper. The only way 4-2-3-1 wins is if the weaker side plays a similar formation. A disciplined 4-4-2 can close off space for the passing triangles, and a team with good, pacey wingers can effectively pick these passing sides off, especially with 2 forwards in the side. While your comment is true for 4 4 2 , the system is dying out since 2006 for 2 reasons: - the classic striker (#9 scorer like Veiri, Trezeguet, Nistelruud ...) is dying out - the true winger (#7 like Figo, Beckham, Nedved, Overmars ...) is also dying out Instead, many "forwards" were born with some what skillful but they are not true winger nor real deadly scorer inside the box ... Hence the 4 2 3 1 was employed successfully as the team could use up to 4 forwards or 2 ... (in middle) + 2 attacking midfield on either side (again not true winger) Robben, Ribery, Messi, CR7, van Persie, Pedro, Robinho, Neymar ... could play "wide" but as wide forward in 4 2 3 1 or 4 3 3 , they could not play as real winger in 4 4 2 system ! On other hand, Benzama, Torres, Ibra, Kun, Higuain , Drogba , VPersie ... are very very good FW, but they aint no real scorer inside the box ... with man mark a side. They got good coach, good squad in skills and experiences. A few points James: 1. Beckham and Nedved were not true wingers. They were wide midfielders. One was more attacking than the other. 2. What is your definition of a winger? 3. If someone is a very very good FW why isn't he a real scorer in the box? Where are they scoring their goals from? 4. Spain have been playing with the same style for two major tournaments now. They've won both of them. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't win this one because of their style. One can argue that if you defend with many players behind the ball, you can defeat any team playing any style. And I don't know why would you say Spain's tiki-taka style would tire their players. If anything, it would tire their opponents, which is one of the reasons why they keep passing teams to death. How much would the Spanish players have to run if they play two games vs "park the bus" defenses? Wouldn't the games be played almost entirely in front of the opponents' goal? FYI, players tire more when there are many transitional moments in a match, action going end to end or penalty box to penalty box. That is not what tiki-taka vs park the bus match looks like.
