    I'm confused about something here - doesn't AI=Iversen?

Sorry - I screwed up - had Jalen on the brain and said Jalen Rose when I meant Derrick vs. AI.

Colin thinks Derrick Rose is a nicer AI.

Ah alright yes Rose as a nicer AI, I can buy that.

Heat win yesterday again without Wade, LOL. Of course it was the Bobcats. But still, 11-1.

On a different subject, here is the past 10 games of the scrubbiest, most overrated "star" in the NBA. A guy who gets a bobblehead doll next to Kobe, Durant, LeBron etc. on the Happy Together ad and who doesn't even bother to show up for half the games he plays. Guess who this slouch is.

    Points Rebounds

    2 2
    2 5
    10 8
    19 12
    5 6
    15 9
    17 9
    10 5
    7 9
    5 4

Since you listed rebounds, it must be a front court player and not a guard. Someone who gets top billing? Must be Blake Griffin, right? Really, he had a 2 and 2 game? How does that happen?

Nah Blake is a diving sissy but he's a lot better than that. This guy isn't as famous as Blake but again he gets a bobblehead on the NBA ad like he's actually really good.

Nah Bosh is a pants rebounder but he pretty much always scores at least 15 or so. Anyway, it's annoying Noah. He went from being my favorite Bull when he was a rookie to the only Bull I could do without today.

Yannick Noah? I think you mean him. It's a stretch to call him a "star" though. His ceiling has always been to become a quality 3rd guy on a contender. And before this pisspoor season, that's what he appeared to be headed towards.

Even with the drop in production, he's still nearly (9.9 PPG, 9.6 RPG) averaging a double-double for the season.

I am not a Noah fan, but if I were a Bull fan, I'd sure want Noah over Boozer. It's depressing how much money the bulls have tied up in those two players though through the next 3+ seasons. The low numbers are part of the reason I like Noah as a player - works hard gets offensive rebounds, and doesn't need the ball like a star.

The reason I was surprised about the DRose AI comparisons is because I think of Rose as more of a pure point - but the their numbers aren't all that dissimilar I guess. As good as AI was, I think most would prefer Rose over his career on their team.

Rose's body seems more frail though. AI was really seemingly indestructible in his prime.

I don't really see Rose as an oldfashioned pure point guard, though I would consider him a better passer than AI. But he's closer to the Russ Westbrook mold than he is to the Chris Paul archetype.

And I think it's Boozer that will really kill the Bulls long-term. Each of the other contenders (OKC=Westbrook, Heat=Wade, Lakers=Bynum, Grizzlies=Gay, Celtics=Pierce) has a n°2 guy that I would trust a lot more in a play-off situation.

You do know Yannick is the father right?

So which guy would you pick if both were available in the draft? I'd probably take Rose.

Rose or Westbrook or Rose or AI?

I'd take Rose over Westbrook just because I suspect he would make a better long-term leader and team mate.

AI is a more tricky choice. Perhaps he wasn't much of a team player, but he did take the equivalent of an old rake and a broken bicycle all the way to the Finals. I'd say I'd probably still pick Rose over him, but it would be a lot closer.

And the Joakim/Yannick mix-up was a brainfart of mine. Doh.

Good game so far between Knicks and Heat. Heat up by 2 going into half time. Melo has been on fire yet again. He hit 22 points in the first half.

Unbelievable. Every time you call out Noah (deservedly so), he responds with a monster game. 20 & 17 tonight, including 13 offensive boards -- an NBA season-high -- admittedly against a weak Pistons team.

Clearly Noah is a BS lurker and JohnR is his personal life coach, there to light a fire under his ass when he starts to rest on his laurels. :D

Mofo was a monster beast tonight. Jo, can we do a bit of necking? Nor more than that but I'm willing to put out that far.

Rose was half crap today, 3 air balls and 7 TOs but he did get 24/9 and the 3 pointer with 6 seconds left when the Bulls were down 3.

Tossup, but I'll go with Iverson. Rose has been missing games and with Iverson we're talking about missing practice.

good win against Golden State ( 120-99) _ ..the Warriors started 3 rookies because of injury, so the game wasn't very competitive..

best part of the game was towards the end. if the warriors score 100 points their fans get a free meal. warriors scored 99..one point short. they tried so hard for one more though..Nate Robinson nearly made a last second shot to make the fans happy..

spurs have to play the Lakers tomorrow, then on Wednesday we play the Queens:D, I mean Kings.:) three games in a row..:D

    I have a hard time remembering a recent competitive Warriors/Spurs game.

Anyway, with Thunder losing AGAIN to the Clippers, the Spurs have arguably the best shot of grabbing the top seed in the west. The line on them has moved from 12 to 1 all the way down to 4 to 1 to win it all.

Finally, AI over Rose for me. This might just be another crazy theory but I wonder if the cities they played in could be a factor in the perceived "likeableness" of the two of them. Chicago absolutely falls in love with their star athletes, Philly... not so much.

oh eff that I want to avoid OKC as the third seed.

I actually think AI is the better player, but Rose seems to be the better person to a talented and well coached team to a ring.

Lakers vs Spurs tomorrow and then GSW on Wed... Yes Baby!

Edit - just watched sportscenter and Lebron had a killerr 4th quarter against the Nets.

See I'm surprised by everyone picking AI. AI was an incredible talent - but I think I'd much rather Rose on my team. Better team-mate, more humble, better point guard - Isiah proved you can be a score first point guard and win a title, but AI seemed too selfish with the ball - maddeningly so.

His durability has to factor into the equation though. Rose has more or less struggled with injuries from his sophomore season onward. Of course this could all just be a phase. Wade went through a couple of injury-stricken seasons but he's now played two back-to-back seasons without missing too many games.

AI was pretty much indestructible during his prime, which is amazing for such a little guy. I don't think AI is any more selfish than Kobe either, he just never had the advantage of playing alongside a franchise center. You don't believe AI and Shaq couldn't have won a couple of titles together?
