Meara has been doing a good job, but is to early to say what he is capable to do or not to do, and about what Henry say for execute I thing he is referring to the fact that they can't score goals, why all the good starting plays finished in nothing, and of course developing a better system of defense, special in dead balls, that is killing us....is looking like if our players get so fascinated with the way the opposite team take those free kick, that they freeze, permitting them to move or to do what ever they please at that moment in time....

Meara "executed" just fine against Dallas. The rest of the team? Not so much.

I'm not going to worry about our goalkeeping situation until it's given me somthing to worry about.

I think we should be looking at a plan B for Left Back, get Conde in here, and then we'll see how the goaltending goes.

He should continue playing. Sure he could've done better against the Espindola goal but it's not his fault he was going agaisnt him 1 on 1. It's not easy to stop breakaways. He still made some good saves. Not his fault the people in front of him are terrible.

I can tell Meara has all the tools to be a fine GK. I just think he needs better decision making some times and he seems a bit anxious but other than that he's been playing good not to mention he's only a rookie.

Meara is far from our concerns atm. We need a whole new backline, a new CM pairing, etc.. We are in shambles right now

Uh, seriously? He's far from the cause of our troubles and if it wasn't for some great saves yesterday the scoreline would have been much uglier. What can you even fault him for other than maybe that he should have done better 1v1 against one of the best strikers in the league with his entire defense leaving him to dry.

Are you kidding on Bouna and Sutton? They both sucked. Bouna has no soccer brain. Other than his good reflexes which ends up with a highlight save, he made so many fundamental mistakes that you don't see Meara making at least so far. Bouna could hardly hold onto a cross, never knew when to stay on his line or leave his line, bad at how he deflected the rebounds, etc.. These are the basics. Sutton was only OK at the basics and not so great at the rest.

It it is still way early on Meara, but he already looks far better than both. regarding the DP signing for a half a season not a waste given we probably didn't have that creative midfielder that we also need and given it was just for a half a season. Rost was a key reason we at least got into the playoffs given his vast improvement over both Coundoul or Sutton (not a high bar).

This is your best post that I have seen, but I don't think we have a choice right now with Meara. We don't have the salary cap room right now and Meara looks good so far and enough to run with it. Having Meara in goal if he does keep his form with the points you made, will give us the flexibility to make that big signing which we sorely need.

Regarding experimenting, on this point I really don't think Backe had a choice. Luke Rodgers having been stuck in England and Agudelo not only having looked mediocre we were going to lose him for so many games. In midfield, that is actually quite like last year with Marquez back next week where I so hope he plays like his 1st year and our back line we did lose Ream to transfer.

I agree with your comments on establishing consistency as well as on our history on this point, but we may also need to change Miller with Lade.

I hope next week looks much better.

Although he will struggle a bit, I think he will surprise people like De Gea did in England. He has the talent to become a great GK, and he will be much better as he gains more experience.

I don't think De Gea is a good comparison. De Gea has failed to live expectations after a huge transfer fee playing behind a pretty good back four. Meara is a second round rookie playing behind a shaky backline.

Meara is a going to be good. He has the good skills and he's holding his own despite being bombarded with shots. Once we get the backline settled I think he'll become really good.

Meara is 2nd in the league in getting bombarded with shots on goal, behind Donovan Ricketts, who is on an expansion team. That is a pretty alarming stat if you ask me.

Do you guys think Meara will end this year as the starting goalie? Is it too early to tell?

My opinion is that he has bounced back well from that tough game he had against MTL. He had a good game against Columbus and made some great saves in that poor second half we had against them. Decent game against SJ. Couldn't do anything on the goals. Made some nice saves and took control of the box on some crosses. He's improving and the guys in front of him are not really helping him out right now. Right now there is no reason to replace him. As long as he keeps working hard and improving.

And as long as we keep winning games. Losing games (no matter how we lose) reflects back mostly in the goalkeeper and the coach. I think right now he is saved, but still needs to prove himself. Let's see where we'll be by the All Start Game.

Nothing he could really do to change the outcome. The guys in front of him are not heloing him out at all.

I was at the last game the 1-0 win.

Ryan distributes with kicks and long punts way too much he hardly ever throws the ball at least in the game that I saw. Howard also used to do that as well. But, when he went to Manchester United they put an end to that and moved more to a short more acurate distributions.

Nothing wrong with the kid wanting to get some international play under his belt, especially since I believe he wouldn't have missed any RB games by going, although would a Euro qualifier cap-tie him for Ireland?

That said, anybody who thought Hans would simply let one of his players leave on international duty without putting up a fight doesn't know Hans.
