I can't remember a team that was as big a bunch of front runners as this City team since I've started watching football. If they score first they dominate; if they go behind it's total capitulation.
agree about city. still watch them because i think yaya toure may be the best player in the EPL, by far their MVP even if most media talk centers around tevez, balotelli, etc.
Livorno player Piermario Morosini has died after collapsing on the pitch. Sad news, once again. What's going on?
does anyone think there may be a new undetectable designer drug or something going around that's causing all this or is it just the "error of recency" that makes this look like some sort of wild new trend?
No, I think you see it across all athletics. Every year there is a story about a younger kid collapsing while playing soccer, football, or track. I don't know what the problem is. Overly fit athletes? Simple heart defects that don't show up in tests? I don't know. Apparently the Italian FA has suspended all games. I suppose we'll find out in about 15 minutes. Just reading through some Italian press, and my Italian is pretty shit, but I think they're saying the ambulance was blocked by a parked police car. Or something along those lines. Anyway, horrible news.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1049011/piermario-morosini-dies-on-pitch-in-serie-b-match?cc=5901 It's says the ambulance was "late to arrive" and it's path was blocked. This is stunning. Go to any high school football game in America and there is an ambulance parked at the end of the field if the need arises. How in the world are the common precautions not being taken at a professional match given recent events?
It's insane. I don't know about high school, but at any high level college game or above, they have an ambulance backed up onto the field with paramedics ready to go. You can normally see it from the stands...
Not sure if anyone mentioned it but Johan Cruijff is rumored to be Liverpool's Director of Football target after Comolli's departure. Can't see him going to the Scouse. No way.
Finally watched the Bayern-Dortmund game from Wednesday. If this is an indicative performance from Bayern, Real should be booking hotel rooms in Munich for a few weeks from now.
Just saw that Charlton won promotion from League One this afternoon - good news, that's too big a club to be in the lower reaches. Wouldn't mind them back in PL, either. Chris Powell has always seemed a good dude, so good on him.
The Livorno bench knew something was up right away but Prescara kept playing for about 30 seconds. Alot of things went wrong today and its a shame.
Chewed up grass doesn't make for good playing surface. Stoke let their fans graze on the field, ask Mertesacker how well that went.
Think Hank Gathers, March 4th 1990 or Pete Maravich, Jan 5, 1988. Generally its an undetected heart defect.
They were easily the most boring club in the Prem in the years before their relegation especially under Curbishley. Sure he kept them up but only by playing negative, super cautious football that seemed designed to get the club points by making their opponents fall asleep. Are they any more interesting to watch now?
