A new little, or not so little, star being born?

Her first ever match for the senior Frankfurt team (!), and she scored the 2-0 which decided Frankfurt's progression to the semifinals: 17-year-old Silvana Chojnowski.

Before she scored, she was awfully hit-or-miss. I like to be a little careful with 17 year-olds. Malmö called up a 17 year-old (Fredriksson) today since Rohlin, Swedish national team defender, is out for the rest of the season. I spent the entire match feeling sorry for her. She did some good stuff, but was just out of her depth entirely. A 17 year-old marking Bajramaj... I know they need experience... but still!

While we're there, there are a bunch of "promising" players who've had competition and national team experience over the years but who just haven't delivered. It may be unfair, but I think of the likes of Islacker.

To identify more Islackers? Or because it's a nice town? ;):p

    Pre-Islackers, while they're still hopeful. ;)
(Chojnowski was indeed in the squad last year, but I don't remember seeing her play.)

Any reliable live-feed for Rossiyanka-Potsdam?

On a different note: I saw Islacker play just during this season in Duisburg, but I quite like her. Was she promising and then suddenly worsened her quality? I don't know the story that's behind, but, as an observer from outside (not really knowing anything about Frauen Bundesliga before 2011), I was thinking that Islacker seemed quite good and I had wondered if she couldn't be considered NT material...

Edit: nevermind, i found this good feed, via Eurosport: http://www.sportlemon.tv/v-2/18/46/v-384778.html

I am watching it, Anonma went very close to score, twice, at about 10'... ^__^

She is a quite good player and possibly will play a (minor) role in the nt in the future, but currently she is injured. That stupid toe! :(

Well, they finally scored and should have scored some other goals, but their finishing is horrendous. Nagasato missing a sitter from 4 meters.

Now an equally horrendous goal keeping error and Potsdam leads 2:0 just before half-time. It's game over now.

And now we know: Nagasato can score... if the goalie drops the ball right in front of her.

Agree that both mistakes were horrendous: Nagasato's one in front of the goal at 41', and russian GK's one in the extra-time of first half, giving to Nagasato a chance that neither her could have missed :D (ball deposited on your feet: "Please, just pull it gently into goal").
It's only that Rossiyanka's player mistake influenced the result more...

I wasn't even paying attention, the action was apparently finished, so I nearly missed the goal. Even Nagasato was so surprised that she could have even missed this one, if it wasn't for her reflexes... :p

Although probably Potsdam deserves being ahead, I guess neither team really played very well in this first half: a lot of missed passes in the MF, very few decent actions... :p

Someone knows why some Rossiyanka's players wear silly numbers like #80, #90, #99? (asked also in another thread, but I am very curious).

During half-time they showed highlights of Frankfurt-Malmö that I had missed yesterday... Great! ^__^

The UEFA live ticker is quite funny. Göranson nearly scores a goal (hits the bar and the ball jumps straight down) and it says:
    Göransson (Potsdam) misses the target.

The next Nagasato goals because of a goal keeping error. :D
This time the goal keeper crashed into her own defender and lost the ball. Nagasato again couldn't possibly miss. ;)

Ok, now I guess Nagasato realised what's the secret!!!! :D

You just have to wait near the GK for her to give you the ball, and then you kick quiet and straight!

Yuki: "So it was so easy? Now I learnt how to score!!!"

    Oh oh oh...
Seriously Göranson, how could you miss these two chances???
    What the hell?

It's incredibly how Potsdam waste goal scoring opportunity after goal scoring opportunity.

I have seen it a few times on their in play report, when it hits the woodwork it is considered as off target for statistics purposes.

Here's some video highlights - here - I dont think the Nagasato 1st half miss miss was necessarily an automatic goal. Actually the GK was not to blame for her 2nd drop, and otherwise made some amazing saves. I didnt see the game myelf, but it looks look a lot of these waste in "goal scoring opportunity" was due to this acrobatic GK?

Quality semi final line up. The clash between Europe's top two will be a 50/50 coin toss, but I have a feeling that Arsenal over two legs may possess all the ingredients to make a inconsistent Frankfurt finally pay for their silly periods of poor/sloppy play.

Two injuries for the Gunners before Sunday's game

One of them could prove costly Jennifer Beattie, the other one is a blessing Faye White. What they don't say is are also missing Kelly Smith out for 2 months, Julie Fleeting who is pregnant and Lauren Bruton. So Arsenal has only 15 fit players for the semi-final and will maybe put kids on the bench. As the coach don't trust them anyway they might as well get 15 players on teamsheet including no substitute goalkeeper....the Arsenal way.

Frankfurt won't be complete either: Bartusiak is suspended after two yellows, Bajramaj and Angerer are out injured, Maroszan probably as well.

This week against Leverkusen Kahlert changed his defense yet again (Kumagai and Lewandowski as central defenders) and then complained that they weren't organised enough.

Well, I see that they won 4-1 anyway. Did Leverkusen's goal originate from some particular defensive misplay?

I haven't seen the match, but according to Womensoccer.de, Kahlert said so, and Ria Percival (probably on Alex Krieger's right defender position?) was indeed in the wrong place.

Mmmmh... If I am not wrong it's not the first time that Ria Percival shows her limits in a DF position (she's more of a right wing MF in my opinion). Frankfurt hasn't really found a decent replacement for Ali Krieger's position, after her injury...

Anyway, the center backs duo of Kumagai and Lewandowski was apparently quite working? I mean: no real mistake from them?

Edit: the question is relevant for this thread, I guess, because, given Bartusiak suspension, Kumagai-Lewandowski could be a very likely couple of CBs for next Champions' league match.

In fact, I'm almost sure he played them that way against Leverkusen to give them a bit of practice, because he knew that Bartusiak was going to be out. She wasn't injured, in any case - she came on as a midfielder when Bajramaj went off injured after 15 minutes (and Smisek moved further up).

No idea how well Kumagai/Lewandowski did otherwise. I guess we'll see it on Sunday...

(While we're there: Lyon-Potsdam live on Eurosport Germany at 6pm CEST on Sunday, around 60 minutes worth of Arsenal-Frankfurt highlights thereafter.)

If you should happen to be in Potsdam tomorrow, the club is organising a "public viewing" of the match in their fan lounge at the train station. :p
