    Yep.

Fluminense and Vasco are mathematically guaranteed in the round of 16.

Santos will seal the deal with its upcoming victory against The Strongest at Vila Belmiro on April 19.

Corinthians, who has been playing quiet, disciplined, and consistent soccer in 2012 (both in the Libertadores and in the Paulistão), needs only draw tonight.

Internacional will go through with a tie against João Aurich next week. Given that Santos winning next Thursday is effectively guaranteed, Internacional will qualify even if it only draws in Peru, if Santos does indeed win.

Flamengo? The Rubro-Negro must defeat Lanus, and there MUST be a tie between Olimpia and Emelec. This is unlikely because Olimpia and Emelec will compete for the second spot, so they're not going to sit back.

What the hell was Leo Moura doing passing it directly to their guy right in front of their goal?

Deivid with a great goal. I'm starting to believe, Emelec and Olympia is still tied. Almost the end of the 1st.

2-0 up against Lanus before halftime. Still 0-0 in the other game. Hopefully it stays that way.

We are 20 minutes away from the knockout stages. I'm trying not to get excited just yet, because of how this libertadores has gone so far for FLA, as a go-ahead goal by Emelec or Olympia in injury time would be the norm.

I'm never watching another soccer game again. I was literally fist pumping and screaming by myself. 2 seconds later I'm literally with a sick feeling in my stomach.

Watching these two games side by side might be the craziest thing I've witnessed in awhile , Flamengo really didn't catch a break this whole libertadores.

    why should they lol???

Worst defense in Brazil. David Braz, Gustavo, Welinton, Marco Gonzalez.. all have been playing as if they're blind with two left feet for like a solid year now, the latter being purchased in vein.

I don't think Juan can save this defense.

O trust me ive been on record about Flamengos defense being garbage but to say they didn't outplay teams would be a lie. When your up 3 nill on Olimpia in Rio with 60 minutes left you don't need much quality to hang onto that lead. I feel like Felipe could of done a lot more to help the back 4. I just feel like a lot of crazy stuff happened to Flamengo and most of the time they were controlling the games. Lots of scrappy goals given up to.

The saddest aspect of this elimination is that Flamengo has a much better roster than Emelec. Losing in Ecuador was even acceptable - but losing a 3-0 lead against a team which has now too been eliminated, at home, starting from the 75th minute, is absolutely not the mark of a championship-caliber team.

If Flamengo had been facing Barcelona, Real Madrid, or some team which suddenly started playing like the Brazil of 1958 or 1970, such a result would've been easier to accept. But Olimpia, while having a winning tradition, is hardly a powerhouse. Their comeback made me think they may perhaps be a darkhorse, but their subsequent humiliation by Lanús, a hardworking and solid team without any standouts (and without any winning tradition in the Libertadores; their only international title is the 1996 Copa Conmebol) and which Flamengo beat 3-0 without much trouble showed me they were not a title contender.

Flamengo had this round of 16 spot within grasp. The 2 points they lost against the Paraguayan team cost them dearly. And even if Olimpia and Emelec had indeed tied last night, I doubt Flamengo would've gone far in this Libertadores. R10 had a great game last night, and if he'd played like that every game from now on, Flamengo would've been an offensive threat, but they gave up 10 goals in 6 games - they would have been the only team (at least as of now) to have a double-digit goals allowed statistic. Not the mark of a champion.

In a way, I speculate Vanderlei Luxemburgo is smiling. I doubt this would have happened had he remained as the manager. He has no Libertadores titles to his credit, but he is a winning coach, and barring the 2000 Olympics, teams he manages don't choke in this embarrassing fashion.

You've been a fan long enough in this decade, you would be accustomed to things like this. In 2008, we were beating Goiás 3-0 and allowed them to tie the game at a time we were fighting to earn a Libertadores spot. There's been several times where we have choked leads or allowed last minute goals to drop points.

Catracho, we had a similar situation a couple years ago when we brought in Fabio Luciano. We had a bunch of bums in the back and he transformed our backline into one of the best defenses in the league. Juan can have that same impact.

What's the latest on Juan? Last thing I read had his agent basically saying he's happy in Europe and doesn't want to come back to Brazil.
