I'm sorry, but this just makes me laugh. The lack of information and movement on our own stadium "groundbreaking" has caused this thread to devolve into discussion about a theoretical examination of the potential merits of a stadium for an as-of-yet non-existent team that, should the team ever come to fruition, we will all hate with every fiber of our being.

I suppose if we didn't talk about this, we'd have nothing on the stadium front to talk about. Please Revs, for the love of God, let there be some real, concrete news on our own stadium sometime soon.

We should take a field trip to NYC to settle the score.

Me and couple of guys are actually going to take the train from Penn to Newark and then to Harrison...We're not going down on the bus. Staying over one night in the shitty!

I've taken the Penn to Penn Newark on many occasions and in mid afternoon it's like 30-40 min...I just don't know the easiest way to get from Penn Newark to RB. I can see it from there...it's just a lot of swamp in between!! =)

If you know of a good way to go from Penn-NYC...let me know. Thanks

On the topic of Red Bull Arena commutes, here is an article published on 4/4/2012 by Big Apple Soccer

It describes one man's perspective that getting to the stadium is easy, but getting home is a pain.

So in about 2 months, sometime in June, what do people expect to see? (Somewhat related, the building permit for the Somerville Ikea expires in July.)

If there is an announcement, I think it's a 70% chance we see renderings of a stadium and a site plan showing the stadium and surrounding development. My guess is that the announcement is first reported by the globe or herald not directly from the revs or city. I believe the announcement will be a proposal with local political backing but not a done deal.

If there is an anouncement, What do others think the potential anouncement will be?

Will it simply be an anouncement that the revs and fill in the blank city are seriously in discussions about a stadium at fill in the blank site but no renderings or plans? Will the Revs and city hold a press conference? Will nimby's find out before an anouncement and begin a protest?

On one hand, after hearing at least a half dozen Bilello "hopefully/maybe sometime in June" talking points over the last four months, it's hard not to imagine some version of the scenario above.

On the other hand, it's also just as plausible to imagine ... "Well we came really close and tried really hard, but the process broke down and everything fell apart. But, we'll keep trying, with the same folks who failed the last four times, because we have the best fans in all of MLS."

There's nothing wrong with remediation of a Superfund site to remove the toxins and place the site to good use.

Yabutt, we don't want to build on a site like Chernobyl, where 25 years later the site is still not fit for human life. In your native country they are known for such fine craftmanship and as long as you can't see any toxins, it is good enough! :p

Ok. Since you agreed with my sentiment Boston people are just as parochial as NYCers in a prior post, will the same "core or bust" rule apply to Boston fans?

Just curious, in case the Revs build on the edge of the urban core, what your take would be (similar to NJ?)

I think comparisons to NYRB should wait until a specific site is proposed and then we can compare the public transportation availability by T. I do think a benefit of games in the urban core is that on gameday, thousands of people are wearing team merchandise and everyone knows there's a Bs, Cs, or Red Sox game that night. It adds to brand awareness. Stadiums outside the urban core dont have the same effect.

Except the Patriots - I see Pats jerseys and flags all over the place on fall Sundays. But you're right. I hope the Revs / rebranded Boston team leads to the same kind of pride and awareness.

And the promotion "Come dressed like an empty Blue Seat" continues to be amongst THE MOST popular/successful in all of MLS.

What do you mean by "the edge"? IMHO, as long as it has T access and reasonable highway access, then it will succeed.

That could be pretty awesome. An alien spaceship landing on top of South Station look.

Oh wait, they already did that.
