Some nasty stuff from Shea Weber at the finale of that game too, he took a couple cheap shots to Zetterberg's head and could hear from Shanahan for it. And in the late game, LA beats Vancouver 3-2 with a late Dustin Penner goal. I actually picked the Kings to win this series, and I feel even more confident knowing that Daniel Sedin might not come back, or certainly won't be 100% if he does. LA just looked fresher and won more battles tonight, and Vancouver only stayed in the game because of a great Luongo performance.
The first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs are always like the NCAA March Madness in there will always be potential for tons of surprises.
Except that the upsets here aren't as shocking as in the NCAA, where a #1 seed has never lost in the first round. But here in the NHL playoffs, I don't think most fans would be stunned to see a 1 or 2 seed go out in the first round.
No, but in this season's playoffs, I'm sure there would be a lot of surprised faces if the 3 seeds from both conferences actually get out of the first round.
Well honestly I think the Blackhawks will eliminate the Canucks in the first round again. No Daniel Sedin is no bueno.
Wow, you are the one. The Caps didn't show up for game 1. Braden Holtby did, but was not informed that the OT period started unfortunately.
I disagree. Credit must be given to the defending Stanley Cup champions, but the Capitals played a disciplined game and tied the Bruins in Boston in regulation. That is quite an achivement in and of itself. The Capitals have a chance of winning the series if they continue to play like this, obviously it is not going to be easy.
Good start to game 1 of the Rangers/Sens series. It was nice to jump out to a 4 goal lead but pissed that the team took their foot off the gas and let Ottawa get 2 back. May seem insignificant and a win is a win but we can't let that happen. I hope Torts had something to say after that sloppy third period. Ottawa is tough and and Karlsson is a pleasure to watch so the Rangers have to commit to 60 mins of hockey.
If the Pens can blow a 3 goal lead at home, including two in the second period, you would think that more teams would have it in them to not let their guard down in the third period. If the Rangers win 4-0, it doesn't give the Sens as much hope as getting two back.
When the game was still 1-0 there were long stretches where Ottawa was outplaying Rangers. So I think a 4-0 win would have been dangerous for New York as it may have made them overconfident going forward. It would have given the impression they dominated when they didn't at all. Even 4-2 is a bit flattering to NYR.
Penguins just don't know how to hold a lead. They are done. Classy to see Jagr not celebrate after scoring.
The Penguins blueline has been abysmal. Orpik, Martin, Letang, Michalak should all give back like a quarter of their salaries just based on the complete joke they have been so far in this series. I can't really blame Lovejoy and Engelland since they aren't really that good anyway.
We will see. If Jose Theodore keeps being the bad Jose, then yeah it will go fast. But you never know when good Jose comes back. I hope the Panthers win at least a couple games for their fans.
The first period was so bad that it was WITH good Jose. The Devils had 27 shots in the 1st period. In the 2nd and 3rd, the Devils did almost nothing. I think these periods were more reflective on what's to come (the 3rd especially), but then again, I'd like them to be. Panthers win on sunday is my prediction, but Devils in 6 is still what I'm thinking. I'd love Panthers in 7 though.
