instead of Muller maybe, Muller is useless in this formation against Real we need fit Schweini so we can play with Kroos as AM
The whole team spirit and hard fighting that Dortmund demonstrated wasn't there. Also, Schweinsteiger's role is still not utilizing his potential in my opinion. I think there are too many DMs at the same time.
For an experiment, why not try to play Ribery and Robben even closer to each other rather than having them on fringes of the field as mere wingers?
I don't need to because I don't see BVB as that strong. It is as simple as that. Also you are underestimating hugely how well Stuttgart or Wolfsburg for example played for that short time frame that gained them their last title. BVB manages to stay on that level unlike those two mentioned. Main Problem is that Bayern after several chances still has no f#cking clue on how to play against BVBs high pressing as it happened in half time one
Schweinsteiger's benching has been a real problem, but Bayern still does lack the other player(s) to employ the system I'd like us to play vs BVB exclusively
Bayern now may need to be more leading in the way they play rather than being reactive and passive with a boost of enthusiasm as well as stopping to do the obvious.
See I don't know if he would have made such a huge difference. The game was tight, it could have gone either way and if Schweinsteiger really isn't 100% fit then it might not have been enough to tip the balance. I think the problems go a bit deeper than that when you look at how we lose against Dortmund and sides similar to them but that has been discussed ad nauseam.
I don't agree at all that this should be put on Heynckes' shoulders. But it was ridiculous seeing we'd play at our pace and once BVB would steal the ball they would change the tempo within a matter of an instance. We were ********ing terrible today at controlling the tempo, and BVB just ********ing blitzed everytime they had the ball. I think it was pretty easy to notice, why was nothing done to stop it?
In 2010 we played vs Lyon, ManU (both good back then, ManU were having a great season, Lyon had just knocked out Real), Fiorentina, Juventus, a very tough Bordeaux side, arguably stronger teams than this year.
Schweinsteiger is about the only one that can control pace and switch gear in midfield and that is what was missing desperately. I don't agree at all that this game was tight, in fact it was totally one sided for BVB and if they capitalize on their great chances we could have sung "bye bye" title way earlier. The only thing that evened the playing field in halftime 2 was BVB taking one foot off the gas (whether voluntarily as a tactical measure, or due to fatigue remains to be seen) and playing deeper with a lot less pressing.
Agree. His aproach is conservative and he relies on individual talent to bail him out. He's also having an almost injury free squad all year long, which wasn't the case last year(LvG had to play with Tymo - Ottl - Pranjic half a year, due to injuries to our CM's)
and that is what we do have Schweinsteiger for and therefore I'm letting Heynckes not off the hook. Because even when starting Schweinsteiger may not have changed today's outcome it would at least have been vital 90 minutes (+ 90 more minutes on weekend) to get him closer to top form which Bayern will need (maybe even desperately) on Tuesday
Yup, people blamed that on LvG all the time and yet they do not at all with Heynckes which is very strange to be honest
That is true, he is the metronome of this team without a doubt. But a Schweinsteiger that isn't 100%, which it still looks to me is the case, would perhaps be a biggest detriment than help, especially against a team like Dortmund who can outrun a racehorse. To me this isn't just a Dortmund issue though because the same thing happens with every opponent that exerts that much energy and pressure and is as organized, whether it is Mainz, Gladbach, Hannover or even Augsburg and Freiburg. We're too easily fazed, our attackers are completely cut off and we never have variation in our play. Makes it much easier for them to sit back and hit us on the counter as we've seen over and over this season, and last. That said, I don't think we were horrible today, to expect to dominate Dortmund or outplay them is naive, and our improved performance in the second half meant that it could have gone either way to be honest.
Yeah, Jupp should be happy that Gomez and Ribery are injury free all season, with Olic and Pranjic we would have lost all of the hopes in all the competitions.
Guess, what? LvG also had them injured(Schweini for arguably shorter). Last year, we've had Olic, Van Bommel, Ribery, Robben, Schweini, Kroos, Van Buyten injured for long parts of the season. I'm done taking part in this discussion, it's pretty immature as I see it
watch the trickle effect now.... we lose against madrid get knocked out, and we lose the pokal final.... Imagine if that were to happen.. What a wasted season for nothing, all that promise and all the "new" editions and we still fail to get anything...
Bordeaux - we lost home and away Nuff said Man utd and Fiorentina - We werent convincing, went through via away goals. Fiorentina (remember Kloses winner) Juventus- Was absolutely horrible that season, Sacked multiple coaches and finished 7th in Serie A
maybe than our FO will get that we need more players who can replace the first 11 without losing on quality bayern cannot afford to be so cheap anymore
