Looking forward to the likes of Pitts vs Philly and Nucks vs Kings, they should be two very fun series to watch.
Vancouver St. Louis Chicago Nashville NYR Boston NJD Pittsburgh the best series will be Pittsburgh-Philadelphia and Nashville vs Detroit. Normally I just sort of laugh at the regular season mattering for seeding. But now when I see that Nashville has to match up with Detroit in the first round and ditto Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, I think, damn it would have been so much better to be 6th.
Vancouver San Jose Chicago Detroit New York Washington New Jersey Pittsburgh The Pittsburgh-Philadelphia series is going to be a great series!
Vancouver San Jose(St Louis....Elliot is injured) Chicago Detroit Ottawa Boston New Jersey Pittsburgh Ottawa upsets the Rangers, Torts provides yet even more amazing interview gems
Well, I grew up with the Detroit Red Wings following them since the very late 70's and surviving the dead wing years before they became the team they have been the past many years. I don't see them going deep this year. I will be attending game 2 of the series between the Coyotes and chicago. Go get them desert dogs!
I wonder if Burke's going to go with "The Pittsburgh Model". It's worked well so far for the Oilers... ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rangers over Senators in 5. They're going to get out of the first round. How you like that, Brooksie? Bruins over Capitals in 3 because Washington will treat game 1 of the series like the regular season and simply decide to not show up. Panthers over Devils in 7. An announced crowd of 10,500 will show up to support the Panthers in their biggest game since they went to the Cup Finals 15 years ago. Game 7 goes to triple overtime, and the Devils defense will have a momentary lapse and give up the game winner to Stephen Weiss. Over/under on plastic rats thrown on the ice in this series at 20. I'm taking the under. Over/under on real rats displaced by the new Miami Marlins stadium being thrown on the ice at 3. I'm taking the over. Flyers over Penguins in 7. Best series of all 8. Four of these games are going to overtime. The other three will be won by 3 goals or more, including Game 7. Crosby will get a concussion at some point in the series that will go undiagnosed until the Penguins' season ends. Crosby will be forced to retire, but will take a cushy job in the NHL offices as Gary Bettman's personal testicle washer. Kings over Canucks in 6. No, I'm not crazy. The Canucks look like they have choke written all over them, and Jonathan Quick is an absolute beast. Blues over Sharks in 5. Blues are for real. Sharks aren't. Sharks will win Game 3 at the Tank, but that's where it'll end. Blues fans have been salivating for this. Glad to see them get back in. Blackhawks over Coyotes in 6. Coyotes are not that good, and the Hawks just have more talent. Game 5 may be the last game ever played in the desert before the 'Yotes move to Hamilton/Seattle/Kansas City/Quebec City/Toronto 2/Honolulu/Paris/Rome/Reykjavik/Tehran/Casablanca/Johannesburg/American Samoa, at least until Bettman moves the Islanders to Yuma for some unknown reason. Red Wings over Predators in 7. Second best series of the 8. The Preds are for real, but I just can't see them getting past the Wings.
My picks: Ottawa in 7 Bruins in 5 Panthers in 7 Penguins in 6 Canucks in 6 Blues in 4 Coyotes in 7 Predators in 7
Not really sure why so many of you are picking the Panthers, who finished 8 points below the Devils. The Panthers play in by far the worst division in hockey and the Devils in the best. Yet despite the extra games the Panthers were -24 in goal differential. (Nobody in the southeast had a positive goal difference). New Jersey was +19. They come into the playoffs on a 2-10 run.
I'm claiming the general laziness defense. Honestly, I got lucky with my picks last year and I'm pretty sure most of these won't pan out, but half the fun is in the speculating.
Broadway Assfaces in 7 Boston in 6 Jersey in 5 Pittsburgh in 7 Canucks in 6 Blues in 7 Chicago in 5 Nashville in 5
I'm not sure what's stranger - you saying the Blowshirts will win, or me picking Ottawa. Either way I predict a Torotorella heart attack at some point this spring.
I'd much prefer an Ottawa win. Making Chris Kreider, Ryan McDonaugh, Ryan Callahan, Brandon Dubinsky and Derek Stepan available for the World Championships. Mostly I want Stepan, although I do wonder if he doesn't have a busted MCL.
I honestly think the Rangers are out of gas, only a Lundqvist master performance will get them anywhere. Plus I think Alfie has the magic touch this year.
This is the boldest prediction of all your predictions (and you have some bold predictions in there). It's a relief that it cannot happen...
I went with the Panthers because New Jersey can't seem to win without the shootout. I also have no faith in their defense, and Brodeur is only getting older. I'm not saying that the Panthers weren't/are terrible, but I think the playoffs are a different animal, and I think Jose Theodore can get hot enough to get them through. (stop laughing like that)
Since when have the Panthers been "terrible"? Has anybody actually watched them? Ultimately the shootouts and 4v4 overtime were their kryptonite, neither of which appear in the playoffs. They inarguably had the upper hand in the season series with New Jersey. PS: Florida leads NJ in attendance.
They have the worst goal difference, by a lot. Only two teams in the Eastern Conference (and none in the West) have negative goal differences. The other? Florida's division rival Washington, who has a -8. Florida are -24! They have the least regulation wins of any other team in the playoffs, 3 less than #8 Ottawa.
