Add to that Alvarez (USL MVP) and Olum also leaving, there are some big shoes to fill. Hopefully the new and returning signings can make up the quality.
Was this player any good? http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/04/10/american-exports-chavarri-finally-resurfaces-peru
Well, we had the O'connor sighting and was not dissapointed. He's calm on the ball almost to a fault and although I couldn't watch the Kickers game, he made midfielder of the week for the game. He'll be distributing from the back and breaking up counters.
Question: Now that we have a couple games under our belts, is this team better than last years? I for one haven't seen the ball movement that we had last year, and we miss Neil on the wing also. It's not flowing as well. I won't call out any players yet but... there's a couple chinks in the armor that weren't there last year.
Still a bit too early to say, but Saturdays (Richmond) match, was definitely one of the worst matches I've seen them play. Way too many wasted opportunities and we really didn't put any pressure on their keeper. I can't remember a single save we forced him into really
Did anyone else catch Neal starting for DC and having two excellent assists from out on the wings. He really looked good... Good for him.
Yeah he was great. Check out the highlights here: http://www.mlssoccer.com/video/2012/05/16/highlights-dc-vs-col
He almost had two assists. The first goal was excellent. His slot to DeRo from center to right was right on. The second, he took a pass out from DeRo, and hammered it in. It was headed right into the goalkeeper, and Salihi took the rebound in. It was his second start, and his first assist.
Article on City website says roster changes coming. Coach is not happy with some players and is bringing in fresh legs for remainder of season. Will be interesting who and what positions are brought in.
He was good for RSL, just didn't have enough polish for any one position. And he played defense, midfield and striker for RSL. I hope he flourishes in Orlando. Is he the first of the reinforcements that Heath promised?
UCF forward McKauly Tulloch has been signed to the U-23 team. In his first match, he got a hat trick as part of a 5-3 win over Mississippi Brilla.
This.is.awesome. This is what having a lower division team under is for. I have no idea why the Tampa Bay Rowdies have a PDL team in Maine and there is no connection. This shows a clear connection, very proud of City doing this.
Harrisburg has done this, sort of, with their relationship with Reading United. I don't think they have a formal agreement for promoting players, but the two clubs played a friendly last season and then the City Islanders signed Brian Ackley and David Rodriguez from Reading once the PDL season ended at the end of July. I really think they need to utilize USL-PRO as a feeder to MLS, and the PDL as one to USL-PRO. If I ruled the soccer world, I'd merge USL-PRO and NASL and link each team with an MLS club to serve as their reserve/prospect squads, then do the same where each MLS franchise gets two or three PDL clubs for youth development. I would also promote Orlando to MLS, run a single table for regular season champion, and do a better job of scheduling the Open Cup. I digress, but I will say it's great to see Orlando continue doing things the right way, including player development!
Jamie scored a goal and an assist for the Stars last night, help them clinch their NASL playoff spot.
