Yeah, frankly I thought Ozil's dive was much worse.

 

People are seriously claiming Ronaldo didn't dive there? SMH. Even if he got clipped, which he didn't. He ********ing took another 5 steps to finally react? lmao.

Funny how ozil and ronaldo both wait until they are INSIDE the box to fall over so they can get some more penalties for Ronaldo to boost his stats.

Pepe really is so much worse than Busquets. Who does his antics mainly against Madrid. Pepe does it against every team, and to make it worse he stomps on people, kicks players on the ground and just generally plays like he has no brain.

They are still 4 points ahead though, but are shitting themselves you can kinda see. Atletico wont trouble them but MAYBE sevilla or Bilbao can(depending how we go against them)

Well the shoe is definitely on the other foot this season insofar as the crap-o-meter is their's with their big lead dwindling. We still need help EVEN IF we can win all the rest of our games (which is unlikely), BUT that said IF we can win el clasico at home - especially if we do it convincingly, likely getting La Liga to within 1 point AND they are still in a close contest with Bayern (frankly Bayern in Munich is, on paper, much tougher for them than Chelsea in London is for us) I'd love to see them just crumble at home to Bayern... Almost as if to say 'no mas' Roberto Duran style - fold to Bayern rather than having their ass handed to them (again) in Munich by their biggest rival.

OK, that is just my little fantasy, we have a ton of work to do to keep Liga pressure on them, win el clasico at home, beat chelsea to make the final. Rest will take care of itself BUT rep me when it all plays out as above.

Btw, now that I've gotten over the thrill of LPB dropping more points... that game is arguably one of the best 0-0 I've ever seen. Of course, it helps that the result helps the Blaugrana, but I'm struggling to find in my memory bank a more entertaining, exciting and nerve-racking goalless draw. Great that it was on ESPN2 as well.

Yeah, zero zero is usually associated with a lack of chances. When the goalie you want to play great is playing fantastic and the ball is slamming off the frame, it's a thriller.

 

Newcastle quickly becoming a very fun team to watch. Cisse also scored a very Messi-like goal last weekend. And now they are tied with Spurs for 4th position in the table (still behind on goal difference though).

 

All that pessimism. I say we win la liga!

 

Chelsea in a dog fight with Fulham, were gifted a penalty before half but now Dempsey has equalized for the hosts. 3 minutes left. Chelsea are in 6th place, not going to Europa at current ranking (one spot goes to Carling Cup (Liverpool) and one to FA Cup - they are in the semis of the latter vs. Tottenham winner to play Pool v. Everton winner).

Game ended 1-1 and, in other Chelsea news, they are irate about the scheduling of the FA Cup Semifinal on Sunday - had wanted a Friday or Saturday game to give them time off before playing Barca on Wednesday.

It would be quite odd to not see Chelsea in the CL, odder still if they failed to make Europa as well. They seem to have 2 ways to the CL pass Tottenham and Newcastle into 4th place (they are only 2 points back of both with 5 to play) or win it all outright and they can imitate what Liverpool did in 2005 (not sure if that is officially the rule). For Europa they need to just catch one of Tottenham OR Newcastle for 5th place, or win the FA Cup.

 

Although the only way they'll fail to qualify for Europa is if Everton go further than Chelsea in the FA Cup (and of course Chelsea remain in 6th in the league), since Spurs and Liverpool will have already qualified through other competitions.

But they're not even thinking about that, they want Champions League football. So this result means the Arsenal game is pretty much must-win time for Chelsea. Good for Barca because that match falls right between the 2 Chelsea-Barca matches.

 

The English FA is doing no favors for Chelsea by having them play their semi on Sunday while Liverpool-Everton go at it on Saturday. I don't see why The FA doesn't switch the two around. Shorter preparation for Chelsea ahead of Barca's arrival to Stamford Bridge.
Not that I'm complaining, mind.

LPB in La Liga (2-6 away) followed by...
Chelsea second leg (Don Iniesta).

Upcoming:

The difference, though, is that the venues are switched around on each occasion (home-away-away in 2009... away-home-home later this month). Hopefully it won't mean the results are switched too.

 

This kid would fit in Barca. One of the most underrated youngsters. Great goal today vs Racing Santander to put them into 3rd place.

Very interesting point about the Arsenal-Chelsea match Bocafan. It's amazing how everyone was raving about the Premier League being a two-horse race and now look what happened, haha.

 

Isco is awesome, one of my fav La Liga players. Guy has potential to be real good.

Celito is right - Pepe definitely has a broader range. He is the Meryl Streep of his time. Busquets has calmed down on his acting this season, it seems to me. I'm not sure if Pep pulled him aside, but a similar thing seemed to happen to Alves who was pretty bad his first year here and has since calmed down.

Good interview with Juan Mata about his adjustment to the English game. The interview is old (pre-AVB sacking), but he has some interesting observations.
