Um, is that yet another photoshop job from the Madrid press? I swear on the replays Ruiz was nowhere near a position to bring him down...

There may have been the slightest contact, but the fact that Crissy takes not one, not two, but FOUR more steps before deciding to collapse is utter theater.

Of course we are likely to drop points and are nowhere near granted to win el Clasico, but IF we win it and some ONE team gets points from them, then it's not a question whether we can stay perfect but a question whether we can drop less than them. And that I believe we are capable of doing.

Besides, in the direct aftermath of a great result like the one Valencia got, optimistic comments should be "ok" IMO.

    Re: Four

It's really up to Bilbao. Atletico never get anything out of Madrid and I don't expect them to do so again.

Now if Ronaldo would have gotten a yellow for that blatant dive, he would have been gone from the next game and then maybe Atletico would have a better chance.

I still find it improbable that we will win La Liga ... although a lot of their feeble fans in their forum are already saying it's lost. As much as I would like to believe the Classico will be 3 pts for us, I think it's going to be a really tough battle.

The only bad thing about this Madrid meltdown is that the La Liga Classico now becomes a psychological factor that may play a part into the CL final (assuming it's another Classico). We will really have to impose our game and win it to keep the psychological edge on our side.

A few weeks ago we were just asking for a chance and now we've got it. Like others have said they still have to play at Atletico, Barca, and Bilbao. Ronaldo could still pick up a yellow and be suspended for the Clascio.

So much for saying Barca dives when things don't go their way.

Ozil was looking for PK there with that dive, very uncharacteristic by him too.

Seriously this has to be one of the best GK performances I have seen.

    Absolutely brilliant.

Yeah Guaita is boss. I wouldn't mind seeing him get a chance with Spain (doubt that will happen though).

I agree. I meant to say at least we would have our destiny back in our hands which we haven't had in a while. And yes, all the Pasillo talk turned into complete meltdown panic in 3 weeks time.

Given our form lately, the Classico is really far from a sure thing...if there ever was a sure thing in Classicos.

No chance. Mou will make sure he gets booked against Atletico so that he'll sit out next weekend at home against Sporting Gijon.

Atleti already half-shot themselves in the foot with the players they'll be missing. All I can expect from them is a nasty, painful match. Even if they lose 5-0, I want Atleti cleat marks all over LPB shins after 90 minutes.

The ref actually had pity for the pathetic way Crissy crumpled when he had the GK at his mercy. Lame.

I'd say the odds from when it was 10 points 3 weeks back to now, is from 2% to 25%. Meaning, our chances of winning La Liga have gone up exponentially, but the odds are still against us. Thing is, in La Liga psychology and emotion tends to rule over logic.

They way LPB have been playing, I think Bayern will eliminate them. Team form does have a way of swinging though, and the semis are still a couple weeks away.

After seeing so many GKs have blinders against us, it's nice to see one vs. them for once.

Yep. Only question is, What do you think the yellow will be for? Time-wasting? Diving without a permit?

No doubt, time wasting. My pick is he'll not go back far enough when Atletico gain a free kick.

It's just interesting to see the directions the two teams have gone in recently in relation to what their respective managers have done and said publicly:

Mourinho: shut off press conferences, made more insinuations about referees, creating an air of victimhood, and generally increased the pressure on his players. As a result, they have let 3 teams in pretty bad form all get draws.

Pep: publicly said we won't win La Liga, probably told the squad to play their game, not worry about the chase, effectively removing pressure from his own team, and they have been getting consistent results.

I say this because I see the Madrid board going crazy, calling on Jose to ramp up the pressure on his players, or accusing their players of not having the steel to deal with pressure... when the reality is, they'd probably play better if they'd just relax. But that's just not in Mou's, well, M.O.

It wasn't photoshop. I saw the same frame live too, It was just a picture taken from a misleading angle, since from the ground point of view there's no depth.

Ruiz was closer to the cam and Ronaldo was further. If you look the play from above or behind.

It's also from the side. I would be interesting to see the same point in time from behind the players, the foot could be just next to Ronaldo's foot and not actually touching it. Anyway, during real time and the replays it looked like he just stumbled.

Actually ... after reviewing the video in slow motion, there was definite contact. It seems to have twisted Ronaldo's foot. Probably did affect his stride although he probably could have stayed up.

I have to agree, it looks like his heel was brushed with the defenders cleat early on. However, it didn't seem like it affected Ronaldos stride until he got into the box.

He takes one more step with that foot ... but it may have been an unbalanced step. But you have to slow motion the video to really see it. No surprise the ref didn't see it. Can't blame him.

Anyways ... I hear Pepe had a clear PK not given earlier in the game.

Not sure about earlier but I saw Pepe had Soldado in a bear hug in the box on a Valencia corner.

dunno man there may have been a slight contact at the beggining, But I don't think his composure changed because of that, I think it did after he jumped and landed awkardly on his right foot (0:15) , very small details to analize. It was definately not the Marca story that claims Ronaldo got stepped on his calf that made him fall down.

But w/e lets change subjects. Here's soemthing we can both agree on :D
