Thus I said for the sake of his career and for Korean football that he should move on even if I think he won't

 

well park love united's lifestyle so he'll do whatever he can to stay a little longer. and i'll think he'll retire as soon as united feel his service is no longer benefit of the team.

it's time to play that game again.

park start? park bench? park out?

i am beggin and preying for a start, but i think he'll be in the bench.

Regardless of how and when Park's Man Utd career ends, he's pretty much accomplished everything he could've dreamed of, except for beating Barcelona in the Champions League.

Won 4 League titles, a Champions League medal, scored numerous important goals, and even was made captain for a match.

I'll never forget that league-clinching match against Chelsea last year in which he single-handedly destroyed the opposing midfield. Quite possibly his most marvelous game as a Red.

I also for selfish reasons would like to see PJS retire in MLS.

He has accomplished pretty much all he can at United minus contributing in the CL Final on the pitch. If United's early CL exit this season is an indication, they may be farther from a CL Final return than they have ever been since PJS' first couple years at United.

It would be nice to see him land with another regular CL knock out rounds participant and take his chances there while getting more regular playing time.

 

He's NEVER going to play in the MLS. Let's stop with the ridiculous speculation...

 

If he gets an arranged marriage and pops out a bunch of kids post haste, perhaps in several years when he really has nothing left. But he will have his choice of money, trophies or playing time until then.

 

Park was in one of his best forms this year after being injured and retiring from NT. It's a real shame to see him riding bench like this and it's waste of his talent, sacrifice and legacy.

It would be sweet to see him in PSV kit again but I don't think Park is mentally prepared to leave United after sacrificing so much for club. Unless something drastic happens, he's going to be riding bench at United and then retire.

 

Jesus, it's one season! You guy's make it sound like he's had a carer threatening injury, or had an argument with the boss .

Last season saw PJS figure in major games at the end of one teams natural cycle, and this season has seen him figure less at the start of another teams cycle. The average age of last seasons MU compared to this season MU says it all, but SAF won't throw away PJS level of experience in less he replaces it first. He actually went to MU at a very similar point in time to now as a squad player, but you don't get to achieve all that PJS has, by running away at the first hint of a fight.

MU should win the league this season, and PJS finds himself with another EPL medal. Plastic flag Chelsea being where they are in this seasons UCL, say's everything about the random nature of cup football, and the lack of it's correlation to a teams/clubs quality. So PJS could leave MU, but there's little guarantee that he's leaving a sinking ship for bigger and better things. It's only if the situation remains the same for him and MU next season, that the talk of moving on then becomes more relevant.

 

I think most of us think that he should have moved on while ago to fully realize PJS the player and leader that most of us think he should be. He's obviously being content being the 11.5th man on the squad which is fine given that its one of the world's best clubs.

But if he were playing 90 minutes every week and leading a club up the table not only would the world get to see that he can do more than run around, but that he can also be both a skillful footballer and a leader.

And not only would he be impacting his own legacy, but he'd also provide a continuous spotlight on Korean football in general and more forcefully opening the door for more koreans to play European football.

 

I used to think the exact same thing and wanted him to leave for the longest time but I just don't think that's in his make up to leave for a smaller club, I get the impression he would actually prefer/content to ride the bench with limited appearences provided it's with a club that the stature of United. If he can stretch it out another year or two at the club I don't even see him retiring at another club in Korea/Japan, whathaveyou. I think he would rather be one of those guys that went out on top, per se.

Before Int'l retirement, as much as I wanted him to start every match whether at United or elsewhere I didn't think his knees could hold up but with retirement and only the odd appearence it's definitely helping to prolong his career, a career that might get cut short if he leaves and much more is expected of him. Just speculation on my part though...

 

You mean its not clear to you already that SAF is trying to go a different direction? It hasn't been clear to you that SAF has been trying to improve his winger situation for the last 3 seasons at least? SAF likes Park no doubt and says a nice thing about him every other month but he isn't Giggs or Scholes to him. He's been waiting for Young to show up and now that he has Park is playing second fiddle. If what you said was true, he would've gotten a run this last match just to keep sharp. It was a perfect opportunity. Clearly, SAF wants a winger who scores regularly or at least a threat to draw some attention.

Park should leave and take a gamble with a club who'll play him and has a chance to succeed. He probably won't though and that'll be lame. He gave up KNT status for a reason Im assuming. Staying at United for another season of this would be a bit weak imo.

 

As long as SAF is at United. Park is going to stay as long as he can

 

Never thought I'd agree with K:thecore in regards to PJS, but spot on.

 

F*ck Ashley Young, right now when fit SAF's 2 first chioce wide men would be Nani and Valencia; but remember when PJS went to MU, it's not like it was any different as he battled for a starting role versus Ronaldo and Giggs .

Both comments are perfectly valid regarding talk on PJS's future, but I feel if he were as soft skinned as some of here, he would never have lasted this long at MU for us to be even debating his short term options. Yes, SAF has used PJS in a infuriating head scratching fashion this season, but you could also say the same for quite a few of last seasons top performers too.

If this type of poor cup season/random squad use goes into next season, fine. Right now though I feel justified frustrations, have now begun to obscure objectivity. I mean come on, it's not like PJS's situation is as bad as Park Chu Young's, is it?

 

My desire is for PJS to become a hero at another club... saving a club from relegation, or taking one to European for first time, etc. Being someplace where the fans will appreciate all that he does, a manager gives him license to do some of what he does for the KNT, and again, provide a spotlight on korean footballers in general.

He may be used more/less next year but some of the constraints of his roles will persist.

 

But this is what happens at big clubs. Yes it's frustrating when you consider all his done over the years, but you only see the elite amongst the elites play all the time, at sports biggest clubs. PJS has proved he can play at the very top level of European/world football, and it's only when he leaves MU will we realise just how good it's been to see him remain at that level for so long.

PJS could drop down to a lower level of expectations, and be a big fish in a small pond again, but I honestly don't see him running away from a situation he's beaten once before, and is still capable of beating again. He's guaranteed other Asian talent's an opportunity to play at the worlds other elite clubs, but I don't think he's ready to step aside just yet.

I mean what level would be good enough for PJS to start all the time, but fight for the games top honors too?

 

I actually would not mind seeing our boy come to the MLS. He's not the falling star example here since we've been there, done that via Beckham, Henry, et al.

He'd still have more gas in the tank than either one of those dudes at 31-2. He'd dominate and in my time zone!

Would prefer this than seeing him ride the pine as he nears the denouement of his storied career.

 

Just stop wih the mls. Just stop. He is not washed up.

As for little pond, I'm not talking about going to even the Dutch leagues. To go play for a big German club for example or mid table epl wouldn't be a huge step down. And he's done everything he needs to do at united... And is still under appreciated after all that. So f* that and their ignorant fans

 

I'm not so much saying next season, but finish out the contract and simply reassess.
