Given the approach of the article, which focused a lot on stirring interest in Mexico via a rivalry, it didn't seem to be missing. RSL didn't play any Mexican clubs until the final, and though they made the final close, the expected result happened.

Fair enough. I was probably reacting to the editorial comment by EvilTree "TFC's run might help CCL catch on" more than anything.

I'm not sure that TFC's run is that big a factor. TFC has not beaten any Mexican teams in the knockouts either. In that regard they are the same as RSL last year or the Islander's "run" in 2009. PRI was actually in a better position than TFC since they won their first leg 2-0. Did that increase interest in Mexico?

Maybe. I just don't see how Toronto this year is much different.

I hope TFC wins tonight just for the fact that they are DEAD last in MLS and Santos is in First place in the Mexican league that would be so funny, then TFC can lose in the final.

they need to score to win, any win or a 2-2 draw .
Our teams fail in the last 20 min or i should say fade.
I think it was Houston leading by 2 goals, just to give up 3 in the last 5 min.

That must have been someone else. Houston never did that.

He doesn't quite have how it went down, but I'm pretty sure he's talking about '07.

    '07?

Houston took the lead on aggregate against Pachuca in the 53', gave up a goal on a penalty kick in the 58', took the lead again in the 79', and then allowed Pachuca to tie it up in the 86'. From a scoring standpoint that was pretty much back and forth. With no away goal rule back then Pachuca won the series in overtime.

I'll admit that Houston was pretty much sucking wind for the last part of the game and overtime but so was I in the stands. 8,000 ft of altitude will do that to you.

My apologies. I thought the comment was by EvilTree. I didn't realize that was the Sporting News' headline.

Just THINK about this statement for a moment. It brings a tear to guys like me that have been following pro soccer since the 1970's. To think that for YEARS soccer was almost non-existent on TV in this country......I'm a bit verklempt!
